Hello James, Love the tutorials. How do I factory rest my Solo2 DL? Race Studio 3 start page intermittently flashes back to start page when device is connected and the unit itself refuses to show the actual time; i.e. all zeros, despite the set up menus looking correct. This happens on different PCs and I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling the software/restarting etc.
Many thanks if you are able help as I have 2 motorcycle track days coming up on May 12th & 13th.
Hi! I actually don't know how to factory reset. I've had to let the battery completely die and then go from there on my devices. It does sound like you've got something that AiM should know about. My recommendation is to give them a call and discuss. So sorry, wish I could help more.
@@JamesColborn Hello James, Thanks very much for getting back to me. I will try as you suggest. I reached out to AiM who responded via email and this is the solution that unfortunately didn't work, so I suspect the DL has to be returned to them. Putting this up in case it helps someone else out who needs a factory reset:
Please, try to format complete SOLO 2DL and try to reload latest fw.
1 - update your software Race Studio 3 at latest version
2 - Connect in booter mode SOLO 2DL to RS3 (hold pressed the two right buttons and press the left button - a red LED will blink)
3 - Go to the Download panel
4 - Press Ctrl+Shift on PC keyboard and contemporary click on the cogged wheel on the right of the window
A menu will be prompted, select “Format and Erase all devices memory”
SOLO 2DL will restart with small fonts, all data and settings inside shall be cleared.
5 - Switch off device
6 - Turn on in booter mode, holding pressed the two right buttons while pressing the ON button. The red LED will blink and the display will stay blank.
7 - Connect via WiFi at RS3
8 - Execute the firmware update to latest version
Hi James...great videos as always. I'm not being able to transmit the ECU configuration to the device. The "transmit" button is grayed out and I can't seem to get it to work even though I have saved the ECU configuration several times. What could I be doing wrong?

Bingo! I was trying to Transmit using config. for a Solo 2 DL but what I have is a Solo 2 DL V2. That (V2) made the difference and it's all working now!

Hi! You might find this video interesting about setting up your Solo 2 DL. This will walk you through many aspects of setup. In short, your date/time should be set via GPS but you can edit it in this config. ruclips.net/video/15UBKZrQIHA/видео.html

No matter what I do, I just keep getting a "Can't communicate with device, trying reconnection".
Hi Eric. Sorry to hear this. Only a few thoughts here; if it's doing the same on other devices (not sure if you are able to try a different computer) then it might be a fault with the unit. I'd get in touch with AiM directly as I know the customer service team are exceptional. Hope you get it sorted. James

Try the LapSnap App. It’s free and will help see if you can connect to the device itself. Also, I find first 30s to 1min for mine to connect after starting otherwise I don’t get a good connection.

Is it normal for the display to switch automatically? Is there a setting to keep the unit on one display? I could not find any information in the user guide. Thanks in advance!
I have found that when you create your displays, you may need to toggle to the preferred one for the race. Mine always loads on the StaticT page when I turn it on so I have to toggle to my preferred page. Hope that helps.
@@JamesColborn Does your unit toggle through different displays on its own? Mine toggles through different displays automatically even after I have chosen the preferred page.
That is odd. Mine won't toggle pages until I'm asking it to. Sounds like you might need to give AiM a quick call. They are super helpful. Hope you get it sorted.
@@JamesColborn thanks for your reply James. I did contact AiM, and they were extremely helpful. They sent me an updated ECU version file to install. I am the first person inquiring about OBDII connection on a 99 Porsche 996. Hopefully the new update will correct the communication issues. I will keep you posted as well.
