When Dave quit using Aki because his fingers hurt and he couldn't keep up with the combos, he said that applied to the rush-down characters as well. This is retconning at its finest.

Phil has the gall to say SF6 is his way to vent when he wastes 2 hours a day venting on a so-called pahdcast.
Phil actually addressing his own toxicity is something I give him credit for. However, I fear that it's not coming from a genuine place. I feel like he's attempting to flip the narrative into how he was bad in the past, but changed, and therefore he can only be blamed for things from 10 years ago. I think the upcoming documentary is part of the reason for this.
By putting all the fault onto his past self, he doesn't have to address the stuff that actually matters and happens now, like the lying, gaslighting, manipulation and his controlling issues.
I would give him credit if he didn't already say this when his wife got on him about getting upset over sf6 but almost immediately went back on it.

This segment is the perfect example about why I personally don't feel bad for Phil about how he's treated online. He brings it all on himself. You made an excellent point when you said that people should be growing and learning, and just because something was acceptable in 2011 doesn't mean they sould be acceptable now. But people like Phil can't deal with that. They still think they should be able to say the same exact nonesense they said when they were 13.
It goes back to when he made the joke about that little black girl. Bro was 40 years old. There's no way he didn't know better. He hasn't changed at all, he just tries and fails to bottle up all of his bigotry and toxicity.

You know why? Because he is a compulsive excuse maker. The camera is off slightly, of course it is something wrong with it. I dont even think he realises or thinks about it when he does it. He says he’s authentic and not a muppet, but then says he’s putting on a character. He says people love his toxic behavior, but it’s one of the most common criticisms about him. He says he doesn’t care about his reputation, but constantly whines about his negative reputation.
He’s willing to say anything to try and deflect the criticism he’s receiving at that moment, even when it goes against everything he’s previously said. He’s just incapable of accepting accountability for his behavior and the effect it’s had on his channel.
"We should turn over a new leaf." = You should not hold me to account. Dsp telling us "dont hold me accountable" is mindblowing. "Accept my toxcity." Dsp..a true narcisist. Phil's biggest problem is his extreme narcissism. He thinks he is the best at anything he does. Valedictorian of his class. Best Street Fighter player in the country. The most prolific RUclipsr. The innovator of the video playthrough. The list goes on and on. The point is that he truly believes everything he does is the best and only way of doing it, and anyone else is a moron.
And he gaslights like nothing else. Case in point. Last night on Doodys video where Phil is talking about the documentary, Phil straight up says that all anyone does is tell him what he's doing wrong, but NOBODY TELLS HIM HOW TO FIX IT. This is a blatant lie, as I personally, AS HAS BEEN DEMONSTRATED, gave him 5 things that would actually help him. But he can't say that because it breaks his narcissistic narrative.
Phil just needs to accept the truth: he's a 40+ year old man clinging desperately to his glory days when he actually enjoyed playing video games. But he won't. If this documentary is ANYTHING but a total fluff piece, watch how much crap Phil talks about it, Mike, and banning anyone mentioning it.
One other thing: Phil constantly talks out of both sides of his mouth on this. He keeps saying he's not playing SF6 competitively, yet gets mad that he keeps losing.
Phil, if you're playing this game for FUN, ranking, winning, losing...none of that should MATTER. The only reason it matters is if you WANT be competitive but you CAN'T. And this goes back to my point above. He wants to live in his glory days, where he placed 4th in a worldwide tournament, when he was asked to panel at conventions, where he really WAS on top of the world. He just can't accept those days are gone, and it's so pathetic.
I havent covered it yet but him saying nobody tell him how to fix it got be lit when i heard it live. I try my best to provide ways dsp could improve while i hate his every move. I feel personally attacked lol

Phil, your streams ARE a public space. It's on the public platform of youtube, anyone can go in and check it out. The people reacting to your stupidity are not bugging your house and tapping your calls. They are accessing your videos which are available to the public.
Anytime Phil says anything about Rollback netcode it is painful because he doesn't know what it means. He think's it's literal, that the game rolls backwards and "takes away" your inputs. To put it simply the game will speed up a characters animation very slightly (If it's running smoothly) to a point most won't even notice. It's so you can catch up to other player when something lags. Instead of the game turning into a PowerPoint presentation.
In terms of "guessing what you'll do" it really means that if you're going for a motion input. Let's just say a quarter circle forward. If the game is lagging and it missed you going from ⬇to ↘ but it did catch ➡. The game will assume you did a ↘ to fill in gap of your input. It's to help you, not assume you're mashing one button, or whatever bullshit Phil is spewing.
That's not all it does and the full technical explanation, I'm not smart enough to fully understand it. Put simply Phil knows jackshit about it and his smug attitude when explaining why it's bad is insufferable.

Could not possibly, have hit the nail, more square on the exact center than you have right at this moment. He 100% uses the "low tier" excuse to give his criticisms and just plain mediocre skills some sense of validation not just to his audience but especially himself. He used Urien for a time in SF5 when he was released and Urien for the vast majority of the game's lifecycle, was a top 5 character. Even top 1 for a time. And Phil's main complaint was he has no anti air, despite having a decent crouching fierce and an invincible reversal, albeit with meter usage but that's how most characters where. He just wants to cover for his dulling reflexes and slowing motorics and even in some cases just blatant misunderstanding of mechanics and behaviors. But he got 4th place once dood! He is the best american street fighter player of that year dood! It can't be him, of course not.

I also wanted to add that I really enjoy your videos on the guy. You're discussion videos are exactly how I'd be. You don't give him unfair or unwarranted shit, but you definitely don't let anything slide that shouldn't and even give credit where it's due.

Truly, I have sat here, every single time DSP has gone on this stupid rant about "They're using Ken's easy mode scrub pattern dood." My two responses are
1. If it's a pattern, learn it and stop it. If it's a pattern, that means they *have* to do the same thing *every single time*, therefore if you learn it, you should be able to bait it out and punish it, that's how a fucking fighting game works.
and 2. If the pattern is so "brain dead easy" as he likes to say, I want him to try it, just once. He doesn't need to do an entire stream of playing Ken, just do like a best of 3 and prove it. Put your snort where your nose is and prove that it's honestly that easy to play as Ken instead of just insisting that you're right. Or at the very least, explain what the pattern is. What moves into what other moves make this supposed pattern? Then people can fact check him. [And prove him wrong.]

What annoys me most about DSP's SF6 content is him blaming ''lag'' i live in the EU and have decent internet for the area 200 down/50 up and SF6 is the only game in which i can play against my friends in America with no noticable lagspikes or rollback frames.
So him complaining every other match that it's laggy or ''the game ate my input and me x'' is just utter bullshit how hard is it to admit you messed up the input?
I think hid 4th place at EVO almost 20 years ago really got to his head and he actually thinks he's still THAT good (even though he only won because of the bad console port and no real american competition showing up)
Him being salty is one thing but when i know he's legit talking out of his ass the fun stops for me.

He def still insulted players but tried to do it in a subtle way so it doesnt seem like it lol. But his sf6 streams are like the only gameplay i can watch. Everything else is unbearably boring.
I don't believe this 'resolution' or future sudden plans to be a better person to be genuine, he going to be on his best behavior from now on until the documentary comes out so he can use it as more 'proof' that he is a good person and has actually changed when we all know he hasn't one bit.
Today, I tried installing a really old game again (came out in 1999). That one was really a 50:50 if it would start or not. And if you were unlucky, it would start but then stop working and you wouldn't even be able to access Task Manager to kill the process and you had to restart. I mean, the best thing was that you would start the installer from the CD, you hear how it's moving, but it would only really start if you throw out the CD again (because only then you'd get the prompt to start the installation and THEN you need to insert the CD again so that it can actually copy the data). For SOME reason I still don't understand. To make this short, at the end, I was installing three different patches that were made by the community for the game so that it would run properly. But now it does.
Remember the only time he got 4th place at EVO was cause of a broken Super Turbo port where he played a broken character. AND HE STILL GOT BODIED BY JAPANESE PLAYERS.
He can say he's never played top tiers, but that's nothing to be proud of. Anyone who wants to win will pick and learn a top tier even if it's a backpocket character.
Also why does Phil continue to lie about rollback netcode? We have evidence this isn't how Rollback netcode works. IF RBNC was bad to the point of dropping stuff like Phil says, the game would be teleporting people back to where it can reasonable find a good place to continue. RBNC does not drop inputs and favor someone spamming a single move. It's rolling back inputs to keep it smooth and consistent.
