I'm a Chinese, to be honest, you would not think there is a foreigner singing if you don't look at the picture, her singing not just has very accurate pronunciation but also with very emotional expressions. Her performance is better than many native singers. She is a talent.
Filipino toungue itself is not really good at mimicking other languages, it just that we have a lot of spanish and english influences. But I am studying french. I tell you their phoenetics is very hard for filipino tongue.
MIKADZKI honestly, i agree with them on this one... A lot of filipinos can joke around with emulating other languages without thinking much about it... Of course, not really speaking it, but the essence is there... Whereas if you watch other accent oriented people, you ALWAYS hear their mother tongue beneath... Sure, learning is gonna be hell, but imitating and emulating is definitely easy

Half Chinese here! I still kept coming back to this video even after 2 years. The pronunciation and emotion were just PERFECTLY ON POINT! I swear she's even better than other chinese singers there.
My teacher in mandarin always said she wants to see KZ in personal, she always ask where in the Philippines can KZ found because she love's KZ so much, and every time in our class she always use KZ as an example.
Probably one of the most difficult languages to speak - much more sing - because it is tonal, the Chinese language, must be pronounced properly, at the right tone. To then sing in it is taking a major risk, especially if it is not at all your language - because even a slight change in tone can change the meaning of the word(s), and ruin the song completely. For Filipina KZ Tandingan to take that risk and sing in Mandarin Chinese, learned and memorized, at best, is quite a major feat. To bring the audience to tears of sadness is pure Victory and Success in knowing you've sung it quite well. Great Talent and Great Going, KZ!

If it wasn't for Jessie J, I never would've heard of this show. They're all great singers but KZ is now my favorite. Her versatility is truly admirable. KZ Tandingan still tops the list of my most intelligent singers in The Philippines. Due to a polyp that damaged her vocal chords in her teens, she is a far cry from the common mould of singers that has made The Philippines the belting capital of the world (HA HA HA). But that doesn't stop her from using her unique vocal tone and quality, and her trademark performance in reaching out to belters, non-belters, and even the non-singers. She came in and joined in later during the competition, and to debut her entry on CHINA'S SINGER 2018, she sang her own rendition of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" that got everybody to their feet, dancing like nobody's watching, and ended up reeling in the 500 audience to dance with her. As a result, she ranked number 1 and beat the world-renowned Jessie J. She's got everybody talking about her. For her next performance on Episode 6 of the competition, KZ opted to sing a very sentimental/emotional and a very popular/classic CHINESE song albeit her zero skill in the Chinese language. This song was requested by my classmates to our prof when were having mandarin class and our prof searched it on yt and made the whole class listen to it. And on that very moment this song was playing, I became very hooked because of how KZ sang the song soulfully. And from then on, it became my go-to song when I am sad. I've also watched this video many times because I love how KZ stirred the emotions of the Chinese people and brought most of them to tears knowing that they understand the lyrics better and KZ did conveyed it effectively by singing the song with so much emotions. I didn't understood any of the lyrics however with the way she sang this song it made my world stop. You can really feel the emotions of this sad song. Probably one of the most difficult languages to speak - much more sing - because it is tonal, the Chinese language, must be pronounced properly, at the right tone. To then sing in it is taking a major risk, especially if it is not at all your language - because even a slight change in tone can change the meaning of the word(s), and ruin the song completely. For Filipina KZ Tandingan to take that risk and sing in Mandarin Chinese, learned and memorized, at best, is quite a major feat. To bring the audience to tears of sadness is pure Victory and Success in knowing you've sung it quite well. Great Talent and Great Going, KZ!

when most foreigners sing in Chinese by learning the sounds phonetically, they lack a layer of feeling because they don’t actually know exactly what they’re saying, but KZ put so much emotions into it and it sounds like she knows the weight of every word.... it’s amazing! Her pronunciation is absolutely spot on as well. Great performance!

KZ Tandingan still tops the list of my most intelligent singers in The Philippines. Due to a polyp that damaged her vocal chords in her teens, she is a far cry from the common mould of singers that has made The Philippines the belting capital of the world (HA HA HA). But that doesn't stop her from using her unique vocal tone and quality, and her trademark performance in reaching out to belters, non-belters, and even the non-singers. She came in and joined in later during the competition, and to debut her entry on CHINA'S SINGER 2018, she sang her own rendition of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" that got everybody to their feet, dancing like nobody's watching, and ended up reeling in the 500 audience to dance with her. As a result, she ranked number 1 and beat the world-renowned Jessie J. She's got everybody talking about her. For her next performance on Episode 6 of the competition, KZ opted to sing a very sentimental/emotional and a very popular/classic CHINESE song albeit her zero skill in the Chinese language. She risked, because she fell in love with the song, and knowing that could be the perfect means in an attempt to communicate with the Chinese audience. The judges are the 500 audience in the studio. Although she ranked second to the last on this episode (6th place), it is very clear that her soulful performance of the song infiltrated the Chinese populace beyond the borders of the studio, emotion over technicality. Many Filipinos bash her for singing in a foreign language she was totally a stranger of, and although some Chinese say her emotion whilst singing the song is a bit of an overkill because Chinese singers perform emotional songs in subtlety, then let this KZ's soulful performance be a debut to the Chinese market that this is how THE Filipinos render emotional songs, or more specifically, this is how KZ does it. This song was requested by my classmates to our prof when were having mandarin class and our prof searched it on yt and made the whole class listen to it. And on that very moment this song was playing, I became very hooked because of how KZ sang the song soulfully. And from then on, it became my go-to song when I am sad. I've also watched this video many times because I love how KZ stirred the emotions of the Chinese people and brought most of them to tears knowing that they understand the lyrics better and KZ did conveyed it effectively by singing the song with so much emotions.
