My great grandfather was a marine and got to be part of a Pershing tank crew for a while in Korea, He was also married and from Iowa, so this song holds close to my family.

My dad's dad was a Marine in WW2. And my mom's dad was an Army soldier Vietnam. Plus here and there other family members on my dad's side who server in WW2

My grandfather enlisted into the Navy at the start of the Korean War to get away from his abusive stepfather and half-siblings. Spent 4 years stationed in the Mediterranean with the Sixth Fleet. Passed this February and in my heart he’ll always be.

Harry Choates “Korea here we come” is another Korean War jam from the 50s. Funny how this WW2 generations were perhaps the most bad ass of all Americans in history but they like songs that sound like it’s for children. Very humble and brave generation, grew up in the Great Depression loved their country to the point of death, didn’t often divorce, low crime, make huge moves toward racial equality (the US army officially desegregate during the Korean War while the south didn’t until more than 10 years later)

I used to live in South Korea, you could find a lot of stuff from the Korean War. You probably won’t be able to find stuff now since South Korea is very industrialized.
My grandpa was a. Tank driver or gunner in the Korean War. Pretty neat though his medals in puerto Rico 🇵🇷 but he had some confirm kills

God bless all the UN troops that fought for the freedom of South Korea! Especially those 5.000 brave comrades from greece, that fought like Spartans defending many outposts! And more specifically the Harry outpost! ... 110 greeks vs 3.000 chinese/North korean. The greeks won with only 6 deaths and China lost with almost 1.500
God bless the DPRK and the Chinese Liberation Army that fought off the US imperialists and its satellite states!

I remember seeing records & hearing stories of my Great Grandfather fought in Korea (And later Vietnam), all 3 years and was a Sergeant in the US Army. I don't know anymore specifics though as he died a few years before I was born. But I know my grandma said he was quite quiet and reserved. May of been what he seen during his time there that contributed to that.
