As someone who played through Opus: the day we found Earth and Opus: rocket of whispers, and loved every minute of it, I can't believe I missed a new release of theirs. So glad to jump into their storytelling again. It's charmingly simple and not emotionally pretentious. Thanks for sharing :)
Same, but I got this one the moment it came out, with soundtrack of course. Havent actually finished it yet though cuz I find its one of those games I need to be in the right headspace for to rly appreciate, but so far anything Sigono has made is solid gold so I am still looking forward to continuing it eventually. And of course, props to Triodust for another banger of a soundtrack.
Agreed. I just finished it within the weekend this comment is written and MY GOD! The tears, they’re flowing just by listening to the last song. I’m very happy and lucky I have this game a chance. I’ll never forget it without a shadow of a doubt
anime kids ugly crying for ten hours? oh boy! haha. but seriously, sometimes i just want something that makes me cry. good to cry, like washing out your emotional system. seems like a cool video game
Same, I havent finished it yet because moments like those tend to be kinda spurious for me, but I loved both of their previous games for the same reason. Its the kind of game I need to be in the right mood for, a bit like picking up a book, not so much one I can just sink some time into to unwind, but thats why we like variety in this industry.
It's a bit of a theme with Sigono to create narrative driven games that just make you want to ball your eyes out. Not that I'm complaining, I'm a sucker for Video Games as a narrative medium and sometimes I just want to have a good cry gosh drat it!
Sad to say I didnt cry in this game, I only teared up. The characters didn't have enough development in my opinion, only person I really cared for was remi... and we didn't even get her story :/
My first impression of this game is that it has a cliche story with extremely weak gameplay. Games that are solely driven by story don't do it for me; as if I'm disinterested in the story and the gameplay doesn't hold up, I'll probably have a bad overall experience with the game. From what I've seen of this game, there appears to be a plethora of anime cliches attached, and those anime cliches are incredibly emotionally manipulative and incredibly predictable--which if you're familiar with them, you'd probably be as cynical as I am.
Thank you for existing and being alive and writing this comment. I won't play this game based on what you said. I don't really like anime because I find it very stiff and sterotypical. A lot of other things are the same way, but sometimes you can really find gems in games or movies, shows etc. But with anime, it never ceases to disappoint. I'm not even an avid watcher of anime but I require a certain depth in stories that anime can't be bothered with because it's too busy being an unrealistic por99n fest.
@@nicywicy There definitely is good anime. You just don’t know where to look or haven’t looked hard enough. If you don’t like predictable cliches, try 91 Days or Inuyashiki.
Having played the whole game, I feel like your comment isn't giving it nearly enough justice (which is understandable if you wrote it based only on first impressions). The story does have some cliches, but it gives enough of an unique spin on them to be separated from other games. It doesn't have much of a gameplay just like you mentioned, but it is a visual novel so I feel it's unfair to compare it to other gameplay-heavy-videogames. Compared to other visual novels I'd say the gameplay is great. Additionally, what separated it from other games for me is the lore behind the game's world, the art style and the stellar soundtrack (which I even bought after playing the game).
@@nicywicy Listen. This is my first anime type game that I loved. While the gameplay side is very simplistic, you cannot deny the emotional rollercoaster this games plot gives you. Loved the characters, loved the plot. Knowing lots of Asian cinema, I knew how this game would end….I just didn’t expect it to end the way it did.
That was exactally how I felt, the game wasn't fun enough to stay interested, thus making the characters a bore. For the most part the story was unique, but later on it was VERY repetitive so that became a bore as well... sure I still teared up at the end, but didn't actually cry, I was more so sad that I now have to play the game over again so I can get the speedrun achievement. They also didn't do Grandma Remi enough justice, she hardly got any actual dialogue which I hate when games don't let you speak to a side character that is always with you. The only time you really do anything for Remi is when you give her the wrench and she says something like "Why did you get me this?" then Juns thoughts "She seemed unhappy about it, but the look on her face was the most joyful thank you I could get." But lone behold, giving her a gift doesn't make her dialogue change a tad bit throughout the whole story.
Thank you for your introduction! ^^

That's a really good thumbnail, and a really nice review as well. I'm gonna check it out, thank you!
Have you finished it? If so what did you think?
You forgot to mention just how hard the soundtrack slaps.
"Anime kids ugly crying for 10 hours"
Sold!
sold like a man try to cry when see ghost had been shoot by shepherd XD
The reviews on Xbox were either very positive or “this is the worst thing ever, I hate game trash.” I love this game.
Too afraid to admit that they cried so hard.
Fun Fact: All the Opus games are connected, and Starsong refrences both The Day We Found Earth and Rocket Of Whispers.
one of the best game i have ever played.

Thank you for this review Alex.
Thanks for the vid
What is the game 1:04 with the Arachnid Queen Spinarch? Just starting to listen to the review.
That game is Unsighted. Pretty good.
This sounds great if I feel like getting stabbed in the heart over and over some time! :D
Very well said. 👏
This game is a beautiful installation to the OPUS series.
That’s the beauty of opus. I hope more games will release in future.❤
Opus and Omori are the best games of the decade currently, alongside God of War Raganrok and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
