Yeah their reactions to this fight is one of the things that made it so good. Their reactions to this fight were just as crazy to their reactions to the Minotaur vs cobalt fight.
It's funny going back to the ABC days and see the incredible improvement they've done since then.

I’ve got a lot of time for the Mad Catter crew, they really know what the audience wants. Big drama and hype beforehand, aggressive battling during and always show a lot of respect after. They have perfect balance of entertainment and competitiveness
Battlebots is such a great show... I've been watching since the beginning all those years ago.

I don’t know how I feel about the knockout call so close to the buzzer, but I Lockjaw was probably gonna win it anyway. Still MadCatter was surprisingly dangerous, even when nearly disabled. And that one minibot was actually useful!
I think it's a well deserved win (and awarded KO) to LockJaw. If the knockout call happens on the buzzer, that means the bot was immobile for over 10% of the match.
A match is 180 seconds total in length, there is a silent 10 count before the actual count-out so that's 20 seconds where the bot hasn't moved. In this case, MadCatter stopped moving (it was still twitching a bit but not much) at 6:39 and the loud count-out started at 6:57 (ending at 7:08), so it was immobile for the last 28 seconds of the match.
More a fault of the ref giving MadCatter more leniency in starting the count-out than it really deserved according to the rules, it shouldn't have been this close to the buzzer but the ref waited until the absolute last moment it could start counting out to not let it go to a JD.

Really cinematic fight. The last gasp hit at the end from mad catter while LockJaw was trying to get the minibot was really cool
Was nice to see a minibot feel like it impacted the battle, with LockJaw's wheel damage and reduced mobilitly it really felt like it could high center him and thus set him up for a big hit, which then caused LockJaw to chase it which ended up allowing the Cat to pounce.
As a Lockjaw fan, this truly made me happy.
Seeing Lockjaw not get a single win last season was a huge downer, now Lockjaw's gained redemption, ending 3-1 and beating one of the best drivers in Battlebots.

It's great to see Lockjaw, not only being competitive, but dominant. I love seeing the new bots with the concepts and engineering they bring, but my heart stays with the veterans
he was far from dominant here.
Donald Hutson going a long way to redeem his bot after an 0-4 shutout season, meanwhile Mad Catter held its own and even its minibot Gassy Cat worked perfectly to distract and high-center Lockjaw when Mad Catter couldn't fight back. That final burst of life by Mad Catter and Lockjaw pulling out all the stops to gyro itself back over was a truly tense moment. What a great fight! Easily my favorite match in an episode full of strong performances.
6:50 even Martin has to complement Donald's driving to right himself.
However, I was disappointed in Lockjaw's apparent lack of aggression to finish off MadCatter when it was wounded but still moving.
@Russell Hltn probably cause lockjaw was getting distracted by the mini bot. I wouldn’t say it had a lack of aggression though. This was a instant classic fight tho

I don't even watch contact sports and I like the character Martin does for BB. I just can't imagine him not starting a sentence with "YOU KNOW WHAT" or "I'LL TELL YA WHAT", lol. It's so strange when he's not in character, like the moment in the Pits where they're examining the damage; He didn't have his character then, but I swear he had a moment and let it break out at the very end, lol.

I think this fight is either 3rd or 4th best fight IMO. 2nd best to me is Witch Doctor vs Fusion and best is Minotaur vs Cobalt imo.
Tbh, I feel like MadCatter will still make the top 32. Probably not top 10 since we've already got 3-0 (possibly soon to be 4-0's) Bots up there, but they've gotta be around top 15 - 20, I wanna say. But there's still a 50-50 chance, imo, depending on how the rest of 'em do.
Lockjaw has always been one of my favorites for power in the drive department

After Donald Hutson got completely fed to the lions last season, it is a thrill to see him ice a winning record with a spectacular knockout like this. Martin Mason does not make it easy for _anybody._
if you look close, lockjaw was able to self-right thanks to madcatter minibot, one of the forks of lockjaw hits the minibot and that gave him enough space for its own weapon to push it back, the previous attemps were not making it possible, it basically gave lockjaw some height to self-right even if it was small, put the speed at 0.25 and you can see it.
Anyone else think the little bot was so cute going after the big bot? 😂

I thought this would be Mad Catter's match, because Lockjaw tends to smoke alot. I didn't expected Lockjaw would destroy the light and knockout Mad Catter.
He made a joke that they didn't even catch on fire this time in the post-match interview.

(Like how rotator couldn't use the big wedge against shrederator in bounty hunter because valkyrie in the regular season ripped it off). It's also why atom #94, duck, kraken, shreddit bro and subzero are in the 0-4 club too because I'm including regular season & spin off records since they're in the same event

That was a scary fight for both bots were having so much trouble driving after taking several hits. Lockjaw got lucky that night.

These two were just meant to fight! I was just looking at the profiles on each side, with Martin doing his signature pose and Donald seemingly doing the same; It was just that case of "You're going down!!" "Oh yeah? Come get me!", like they were just locking eyes with each other before a huge brawl!
Gah, I loved this fight, I would've been happy for whomever won, as SubZero's team is with Lock Jaw this season and I just love MadCatter so much. Poor Spitfire though. ;o;

I agree that this fight is a all time classic and easily one of the best this season. To me the best fight is Minotaur vs Cobalt tho. Still an incredible fight between Lockjaw and Madcatter

This is an absolute battle of a fight. Truly a great one.
Also I can never a drone and not think of Hypershock attaching a rake to swat it out of the sky and it working. This was in season 1 or 2 of the reboot.
I like how madcatter tries to play dead and comes with a sneaky attack
I really expected Mad Catter to maul Lock-Jaw, due to a stronger weapon (that weapon hum) and better looking forks. Lock-Jaw really is an elite bot when it works.
A new last-second knockout record. Previous record was held by Rotator when they knocked out Tombstone with 2 seconds to spare. Now, Lock-Jaw holds the record from their fight with Madcatter with literally only a second to spare!!

As much of a Mad Catter fan as I am, I'm happy to see Donald Hutson go 3-1 this preseason and show Lock-Jaw isn't an obsolete old-school bot just yet.
I really thought MadCatter was going to pull off a win, but then it knocked itself out with that last hit

That was a crazy fight. Probably the 3rd or 4th best fight of the season IMO. Lockjaw could make a deep run in the tournament considering it’s back to form after last season.

I had to laugh at the haiku, Lockjaw does have a tendency to catch fire. Not sure why they haven't fixed that after all this time.

That was a really good fight, mad catter looked dead, then alive, then dead in about 2 seconds.
One of the best fights so far
It wasn't a great match but it was certainly proof that the new countout rules are an improvement. Clearly at a point Mad Catter could only crabwalk and then all of the sudden they could drive again. Gasy cat was great here. With an effective hit at the end Lockjaw could have been beat easily since the weapon never stopped.

A fly swatter can take those drones out. Additionally, the minibots are literally just a way to get other team members feel participated during the match.
Check out hypershock vs warrior clan. You might enjoy it. Also there has been a few times where minibots have come into play. Warhawk vs petunia is likely the best example.
