Nice ride Brother! Of course I am biased since I have a 2023 Golf R manual. I know the DSG Golf R is faster than the manual but I am old guy and do not need to be racing anybody on the street. I do not know if the 2024 had the engine cover but mine did not since was deleted by factory for possibility of catching fire. They now have redesigned engine cover and I am going today for replacement of the engine cover. Got letter from VW referencing Service Action 10H9-Engine Cover. Congratulations and enjoy your R! Edit: had to correct few misspelled words!

In all honesty no, the GTI is a bit more fun and engaging to drive and with the SE trim level you get pretty much the same features that you get in the Golf R except the AWD and race modes etc. but all in all the GTI is the better way to go unless you plan on doing dig races like I plan on doing with our Golf R.
It depends on what matters the most to you, if you want to win dig races then Golf R but if you want the more fun to drive and more special car then Type R all the way.
@@RaceCarFriends just drive the GOLF R in Drift mode. ;-) You can always slap it back into AWD mode for drag races... and if you get the manual you won't be winning any races... but you'll be having way more fun... mine has 3 pedals.

@@RaceCarFriends No appreciable difference in engine temps. Engine noise is only slightly muted but nice change when just cruising.
