Same here, in 7th grade !! I remember thinking that it was the coolest thing ever. Really old computers like that usually need to be refurbished to work, the old electrolytic capacitors tend to dry up. Same deal with some old radios.
Be carfull with these old tube radios the capacitors can go bad and short out, and in some cases they can catch fire! If you want to deal with old tube radios get a device called a variac, you plug the veriac into the wall and then plug the tube radio in to it, it will limit the current and if there is any issues with the radio it will keep it from sharting and not damage the radio more or start a fire!
My mom had an old table top radio that dated from the 1950s. It had the vacuum tubes that needed to warm up before the radio would work. Sadly, she threw it out when it stopped working. I sure wish I could get another one!
What a great haul, Alexander. And this is ĵust the tip of the iceberg. This will be a good Winter project of sorting and refurbishing. Treasures galore!
I’m so excited about this series! I bought a Trans-Atlantic radio (just like that) at a garage sale for 20$ and it worked. I gave it to a neighbor 😊. I also love vintage radios (everything vintage actually)…that’s what I decorate my home with. Look forward to seeing everything ‼️
I winced as you plugged in and turned on those radios. Not a great thing to do without taking a look at the chassis for any visually apparent component damage and not controlling the AC line current as the unit warms up.
We really enjoy your channel. Unpacking ones are our favorites. Hubs in into radios, really into radios. The static was from the lighting in your room. Also hubs says the Hallicrafter S-38 behind the little one you were tuning into could be worth about 150 if it is early (it will not a 38 A or B, just a S-38. ) Good Luck!
Alex if you dont already know Deoxit contact cleaner is great for old radios and valve/tube sockets, potentiometers and such. Sometimes fixing them is as easy as simple spray to restore contact. Love the channel.
The tackle boxes and the old cathedral style radio brought back my childhood. Both were dad's we weren't allowed to touch either of them. But when the radio was on we all listened to it. Some reminders are good some not. That's life
It’s great to see the boys helping you,Alex..they are both really gorgeous young men and I can say that because I am a 67 years old Dutch grandmother of 4..😂 I love those old radios,so cool! I hope I’ll find one here in the Netherlands one day.🙏🏻🤞🏻
Hi ALex & Melissa, wow you sure got you another get haul of fantastic items. As for as the June’s Journey game goes. That is my favorite type of game. I got hooked of them as a kid. The 1st time I can remember going to the eye doctors office with my older sisters. They are 6 & 8 yrs older than myself. I also had to get glasses by the time I was 6. Anyway they always had the book called Highlights. In that book there is always a page with hidden pictures. Growing up we didn’t have any money to get anything except necessities. So I loved having to go there. Just so that I could look for the pictures in that book. We are talking many moons ago, I was born in 1965. Anyway I loved hearing that you also enjoy those types of games. Have a wonderful day.
very organized!! so you can sort, get stuff out for auction, and still have your garage!!! I imagine melissa is looking forward to the bird id books and knitting patterns.
We bought our son the TRS 80 in early 1980s😀😀😀. It came with 64 bites that we later upgraded to 86 bites . That was the most memory it would hold😁😁. My husband wouldn’t let us get a printer because he couldn’t imagine what we would ever need one for. We eventually did get one. The paper came fan folded with holes on the outer edges so the printer teeth could feed it. I set up our budget on it - very tedious calculating I must say.
The slot cars really brought back the memories, my older brother had the larger cars that had the wire mesh on the slot doohickey, and about 10 miles of track, lol. (no really, I swear it was 10 miles of track).
My brother is currently on vacation and staying at my parents' house and decided to take his old vic 20 and commodore 64 computers to the Netherlands where he lives because now they are considered collectables. He got them new almost 4 decades ago and over the years he wanted to throw them out but never did and now they might be worth a few bucks.
I had an old radio from the 40-50s era at one time. I'd gotten it at the neighbors auction. I plugged it in fully expecting old time sounds. Imagine my disappointment when it was the radio station I could get on any old radio. I unplugged it and put it in a closet for many years. :>)
Let Melissa have the white ice skates. Buy some jingle bells and loop with lace near toe. Buy white or burgundy fuzzy socks. Insert the socks in the skates and fold the top of the socks over the top of the skates. Insert fresh greens/ berries inside the socks. This makes a great Xmas decoration. I hang mine over my porch light.
I just wish that I was able to make deals on some stuff before it hit the auction, as I've seen so much that I'd like, but I'm unable to bid on since I don't have any form of payment the Auction accepts.

Wow! The first computer I touched was a TRS 80. 6th grade computer class. It was like I was stepping into the future. Very cool find.

That's hilarious that your radio seemed to carry on where it left off transmitting in World War II. A true step back in time!
How is that even possible, any logical answer?

That book about Elbert Hubbard is an artist from the area where I grew up! Very cool.
Great treasures, love the AFX, my brothers use to play with those, and on occasion, my sisters and I🥰
I really want one of those radios.
Those TRS-80 games are very valuable !!! What a find
Very cool collection ❤❤❤
My family had a Zenith radio similar to what you found. Ours was in a brown tweed hard case. So many memories.
Elbert Hubbard of East Aurora! I grew up in East Aurora, New York. I live in Budapest, Hungary now, but fun to see that on your video!
The slot cars really brought back the memories, my older brother had the larger cars that had the wire mesh on the slot doohickey, and about 10 miles of track, lol. (no really, I swear it was 10 miles of track).

Those radios are really cool! Thanks for sharing this with us, Alex!! Peace to All.... 💜🩵💜
I remember having to quick twist the volume knob in order to get rid of the static in the speakers
Fun video, Alex.
You have a fortune in tubes! Cool haul!
Melissa, please show us the knitting patterns!
My sons had lots of the MASK vehicles, they were extremely innovative.
Can’t wait🥰
I’d love to see the auctions !
rapala lures aren't anything special maybe $5 but the lucky luhrs go for 20-40.. i'd put yours at $50 almost really good color.
My brother is currently on vacation and staying at my parents' house and decided to take his old vic 20 and commodore 64 computers to the Netherlands where he lives because now they are considered collectables. He got them new almost 4 decades ago and over the years he wanted to throw them out but never did and now they might be worth a few bucks.
what an interesting score. Lots of good old stuff.
I’ll have to watch the auction, and see if there are any Baycrest radios.

How fun! A wonder why you love your “job”!! you are fun employed!😁 Stay warm!
This is where much of the auction lots are from!
With an old radio, you should get OLD radio shows 😀
I wished you lived closer to me. I could have helped you with your radio acquisitions. Been in the radio hobby for 50 years! RW
The cool thing is you live in Canada where Mr. Carlson is from Mr. Carlson’s lab he’s a radio genius
Shakespeare from my hometown Kalamazoo ❤ knew one of the granddaughters. Love the old radio's WHT a great find!

My brother and I had a TRS-80 and I always wanted an Alphie, too.
You got to keep one of the radios for the pool house...

I just wish that I was able to make deals on some stuff before it hit the auction, as I've seen so much that I'd like, but I'm unable to bid on since I don't have any form of payment the Auction accepts.
I've got some bids in on this stuff
Do you check SOLD prices or listing prices on the slot cars ?
oh those radios 😍😍😍
Great find, but you have to list that Transoceanic radio as a haunted radio, it's so beautiful. Geat video, great finds, take care and thanks!
Holy cow the radio works.
man those trs80 games all have steady comps raning from $15-30 shipped! nice lil score.. seems like a few can be i the 50-80 range

Love the old computers and video games.
I would love the slot car tracks
Most tube amps use 12ax7 and 6L6GC tubes.
Don't know if you'll get much for those skates. The wheels have fallen off.
😂😂😂😂
😃 Box of assorted ice skates, current bid: $7.50
Oh my, the word Helicrafter took me zooming back to 1976. Met my first boyfriend through the CB radio.
Congrats on the sponsor!!
I was waiting for you to sing along with that karaoke radio.
The Zenith Short wave reminds me of a Twilight Zone episode..lol
I like watching your Chanel. I was born and raised in Jacksonville Florida how do you live in that cold ❄ wather?
