the girl in the red dress was me at 9 years old :)
even though this was back in '04, this is probably the most memorable experience i have from growing up and playing the piano.

Hearing many chilren laughing when Lang Lang did or said something, I can tell that he is loved by children and he likes children. I like the way he teach, very humorous, heartwarming, and easy to understand for little children.

i suppose for anybody out there insulting Lang Lang's capabilities they are just ignorant, this man cannot have a perfect performance every time he plays, plus once all of you can demonstrate the interpretive skills he possesses i believe you cannot say some of the harsh comments directed towards him. He may not be your favourite but please don't be completely disrespectful he's doing better than you!

The few snippets I've seen of these master classes are interesting, in that Lang Lang seems to focus on ways to draw out expressive phrasing and dynamics, in a non-scary learning environment. I don't think he is suggesting that there is no other way to play the pieces, but he demonstrates one way to communicate the musical expression successfully. Granted, he is not to everyone's taste, but I think he is an important artist. Take away his grimaces, and his playing is quite often convincing.

I like to play classical music. But if i have to play it THIS precise, to the point that BEYOND the mechanics, I have to play it PERFECTLY in consideration with the TIME, the PSYCHOLOGY of the composer, his MOTIVATIONS, FEELINGS, if his GF was BLEEDING that week......AND, LMFAO, LANG LANG's JUDGEMENT. LMFAO. Waste 20 years of LIFE to copy someone else? I wonder what her monthly salary and style of living is? With 1.4 BILLION people running around, not sure how Lang Lang's STUDENT is doing in the REAL WORLD of rent and food.

He is as hopeless a teacher as he is a pianist. Instead of working with the pupil he tries to make him play exactly the Lang Lang way. No discussion, no interest in the pupil's personality, no attempt at finding those specific solutions which are appropriate for the individual pupil. A good masterclass teacher helps the pupil make progress on his personal unique way and does not try to impose his own solutions on everybody.
