100 per half-hour for a professional classical world renown player is a low price to pay considering the hundreds of thousands of hours of practice she has.

these students are the luckiest students ever, I wish if one time I can learn in her class! I would pay what ever it requires me to pay, but at least my dream is to learn from here because no pianist is like here
Wow, you could really see and hear that kid (in the beginning of the video) play better after listening to Valentina's instructions about how to feel the piece and having the right touch. That boy is lucky, and must also be quite talented to be able to get Lisitsa as a teacher.
The way you explained performing Beethoven is a fight or that spring was really awesome, I think with this kind of imagination, performance sounds closer to what monster Beethoven wanted :-) Dear Valentina, Why don't you upload a video of your imagination about each individual composer or even pieces? This would give us a new point of view of a strong and brilliant pianist for whoever enjoys your interpretation.
It’s always amazing to watch this caliber of musician giving back. I wonder if these students understand what they are getting. Lol. I love that technology enables this experience to be enjoyed by everyone. This wasn’t always available and I love that I live in this time to enjoy and have a sneak peak into this experience.
2008, concert in the Paul Klee concert hall in Bern, Switzerland of Valentina and Hilary Hahn. I took autographs of them both after the concert. I can't forget their beautiful smiling eyes as they gave me the CD back. Very nice human beings.
I was self-taught until about 6 months ago. I was doing alright and even did well in the practical exams. However, this past summer I found an online teacher that can work with my schedule. Having a coach makes a significant and noticeable difference. Having one or two lessons with Valentina would be an honour.
I keep relearning thias lesson . Each note is important whether stressed or not it is all part of the whole and must be considered in detail and organically . Oh thankyou so much for this video !!!
I can't believe this has been posted over a year, and I'm only just seeing it!! I'm happy for those kids who got to hear her take on playing Mozart and Beethoven. Did you catch her saying, "We ALL have trouble with (Beethoven)"? Hard to imagine her having trouble playing or interpreting anything, but neat of her to say.
Teaching of this caliber is worth aspiring towards. I wonder if Valentina teaches biomechanics exercises, mental and physical, to her students? Understanding a piece through interpretative approach is helpful only if the students are not lacking gaps in their playing mechanisms both mental and physical. After 23 years training, and 5 teaching, I’ve learned it is *(mind / matter)*
I played that Mozart sonata my senior year of music school. By then, it was really easy. I love Mozart, especially when young boys play it. It's so appropriate
To have Valentina give you pointers on your playing would be a dream but honestly, I'd be already happy if I could play at the level of the boy right now.
valentina didnt a cent for the lessons. the students only paid their share of the logistics cost. i was the promoter of her Singapore tour. She's an angel
1) the kid plays pretty fine for his age; 2) I am always learning from Val watching her videos and copying her technique; 3) the little chair matches with her outfit 😊
what really sarcastic about me is, I couldn't understand all these similar feedback from my piano teacher when I was young and fool. But now I can understand all of what she said..all to well... but the funny thing is I will never get to learn piano anymore, my finger would never want to move like that, my hands are never want to cooperate well like that anymore.......life is....can't not simply conclude as regret.. my mind was really in irritated condition recently, I hope this could bring back my inner peace..I trust you classic music! haha
Listen, if you want to play piano, just do it. Lisitsa herself says that she owes her technique to countless hours of repeating difficult passages in slow tempi. That's the beauty of piano (I don't know about other instruments), it's all about patience and repetition
As amazing as it would be to get lessons from Valentina Lisitsa, I feel like I would get absolutely terrified that I'm not good enough and I would instantly develop a huge inferiority complex.
Relearning piano as an adult, there's no way I'd be as brave as even that young kid without couple 1-on-1s. I hope he can look back at this and be proud. I'm already so grateful that my mother set me on the path at a young age; it's both luck and success to have such a talent guide development. I'm curious now to hear her thoughts on teaching piano. Her background is so strict and rigorous but she clearly sympathizes with alternative styles. Like Dick Dale said he would play both guitar (King of Surf Guitar) and piano like Gene Krupa played drums. Syncopated blues kinda treats a keyboard like a hand drum-- leave out the palms.
check her interview in Holland, she hated the strict up bringing and made her feel restrained, but she got technical perfection out of it, and is now able to add color to her playing, she;s getting inside the composers head at this point..
Valentina....one of the greatest features of yours is, participating on a street piano in a station hall.Only the very greats dare doing so. Badly functioning streets pianos? It must feel like a pressure cooker when Valentina teaches you playing the piano. First, you must learn it because you have to. Second, you must impress her.
I don't think so, I think she adds more dynamics to the composition rather than just technical perfection, the student s probably having so many "holy shit " moments, and being carried off to another place and time it flows out naturally.. she teaches joy to music, the student has mastered the piece already or she wouldn't bother with him, she's just breathing life into vessel.. now performing that piece for Mozart.. that would be a fucking pressure cooker.. lol.. it's one thing to play it..a whole other thing to have that in your head at 16, he made composers in their 50's sound flat, and they knew it..
what a lucky boy, having valentina as a teacher
guillaumejs2403 must be hella expensive though. 100 bucks per half hour
@@carluy7351 I would pay $100 for a half hour with her as my teacher

what a lucky Valentina having this boy as a student you mean !
