I have a KL-300P RM Italy amplifier. I like it because of it's size. The most I have seen out of mine is 125 watts RMS. But that's on SSB. I will keep it in my collection of mobile amplifiers. Great video.

I've had the kl-300, kl-400 and the kl-500 and have had good luck with them when driven like you mentioned. But their little mosfet amps never have lasted very long. I'd imagine anything over a couple watts into the mosfets will likely do them in.
I was in service mode on my President radio to turn down the power and up the modulation for tuning to an RM Italy KL 203P. After that, I lost receive through the amp. Amp off and all is well. So I replaced the amp with a KL 300P. Went thru same tuning process. Receive blown out on the KL 300 too. Removed TR3 on both and all is well. Add that to your diagnostic toolbox.

Hi. I doubt I can fix mine but it doesn’t receive very good when on. With a 5w radio I turn on the 300 p and I can’t hear much. I see I’m putting out 80-90 watt with it on high but I have to turn it off as soon as I let go of the mic. Did this new. Got it from UK. I’m in Canada. Is there something simple I can look at. Hit it with a hammer or something? Thanks
owh an other thing comes to my mind : ever tried to make a bottom lid with a fan in it blowing cool air to the components and let the hot air come out of the sides . pretty easy to make . the case would only get a little higher . these RM's are designed for 4 watt European approved radios . I have a rm kl 501 and when i key up the swr is high for a second or two and then drop down any idea what the problem is ... ive tried other linears and theres no problem so can rule out the antenna and coax .. tia
Love fact that your kids bust in,mine do same thing.lets have a video where you give recommendations on exactly how to set up uniden pc 78ltx, bearcat 880,pres. Walker, and cobra 29,what they do,and what you need to do to put them in a sweet spot. Thanks.

Just a guess without diagnosing it physically it probably is the relay. Those relays are not the most expensive ones. Check with a continuity meter from so239 to so239 center connector and see if you have a connection. If not then yes the relay is stuck or something in its path like a capacitor is blown.
Feel you on the kids under foot got a 10 m old and 4 yr old boys and my bench is in the garage and they will burn up in the heat to be around me. One thing I think I'd do to one with fuses in it would be bypass the fuses and fuse it at the battery, never have understood the logic of why you'd put fuses inside of an amp. No protection for the wiring and really a choke for the power coming in. Guess it comes from the car stereo world, but at least those are mounted external...
Can that amp be used with an hr2510 with the am rf power output pot inside turned down to 1.5 watts deadkey swinging 10 to 15 watts on AM and 12 to 20 sometimes 25/30 watts PEP on SSB?
Imma be honest man I can't remember wombat this amp can take its been so long since I made this video. It should be fine along as your not hitting it with more then 20w pep

psguardian I wouldn't see why not for as far as I understand most of the new bearcat do not have a lot of output if you're running it on am you just have to make sure you're dead Keys low enough

@@Countryclassics101 TR3 is a transistor on the circuit board. You can email RM Italy for a schematic if your circuit board is not labeled.

Usually the pre amp is on the on/off switch, on down, on up/pre amp, centre is off
