      Understandably, they are getting a little bit old. Railroads seem to prefer the newer and more efficient Evolution Series or even some of the older Dash 9's. Still, these C40-8W's have had a good long run, and to some they will be dearly missed.

      As for CSX, 7300-7396 were sold to GECX. FCCA units 1033-1034 is ex-CSX. Pan Am Railways had 6 units, which is ex-CSX. Some set to be rebuilt as a C40-8WM. For UP, some C40-8Ws and C41-8Ws were sold to GECX. More here about C40-8: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/GE_Dash_8-40C

    I've always believed the standard cab dash 8-40Cs were some of the most handsome looking locomotives ever designed. They had classic locomotive looks with a high tech futuristic next generation construction. They told the railroad community a change was coming, and soon a new king would be on the throne of locomotive dominance. I will always be a hard core EMD fan......but I always new the dash 8 was the beginning of the end for EMD supremacy.

    THERE WAS ALSO ONE GENERAL ELECTRIC OWNED TEST BED 4 AXLE LOCOMOTIVE AS WELL!
    IT WAS IN AT&SF BLUE AND YELLOW, BUT DID NOT HAVE THE SANTA FE NAME ON THE ENGINE ROOM DOORS!!
    I AM THINKING IT WAS EITHER 7400 OR 7401!!
    I WAS WORKING AT THE ARGENTINE DIESEL SHOP AT THE TIME ALL THIS STARTED HAPPENING!
    I ALSO GOT TO TAKE A ROAD TRIP ON THE 7410 WHEN IT WAS BRAND NEW!!

    • @Slim_Slid
      @Slim_Slid 2 года назад +1

      BNSF decommissioned all C40-8W's during 2014 & 2015.They didn't want to rebuild them.
      Originally they were up for retirement in 2010,but then in 2013 more power was required.Tons of them for only two to three years were pulled out of storage and rebuilt for the time being to see more work.
      BNSF has kept a handful of B40-8's & B40-8W's active for only local and yard service at most.Aside from SD40-2's,SD60M's,GP60M's,or C44-9W's to just list a few.
      The oldest main locomotives on their rosters is the C44-9W's and SD70ACE's,most of the SD70MAC's and SD75M's are all in storage or have been junked.
      I have also personally been to the deadline that was briefly mentioned,out in Galveston Texas.There is literally a city block of C40-8W's sitting out there awaiting to be scrapped.BNSF has none of those in still service otherwise I'd come across more often.The ones that still run C40-8W's in good numbers is CSX,but all of theirs are modernised as C44-8W's since they have been changed to C44-9W standards.

    Cool video dude 😎👍 the General Electric dash 8 is the coolest locomotive they ever made 🙂👍 it's cool that Norfolk southern, Burlington northern, union pacific, LMX, southern pacific, Santa Fe, Amtrak and other railroads companies got all the different dash 8 locomotives 👍 it sucks that the B40-8W wasn't selling good 😔 but at least the train companies kept the locomotive 🙂👍 and that part with triple C's reactions was funny 😂😅😆🤣😹 and awesome 😎👍 and the Leslie RS3L air horn sounds cool 😀 but overall no matter what happens to these dash 8 locomotives they have served the railroad through the years well and they will be in the hearts of the ATSF and BNSF railways 👍👍👍👍👍👍
