If you are using the L14-30 4 prong 240 plug the generator is bonded to the ground in your home’s panel and you are all set (no need for any additional grounding). I coordinated dispatch during disasters for literally thousands of diesel gens at cell towers and remote sites. The key is that the generator is bonded (at the same potential) as whatever structure it is hooked to. On a side note, per OSHA, if you are using the gen to power up tools or a trailer that is not hooked up to any other power source, so long as the gen neutral and ground are bonded (and I believe they are on that gen), you do not need to ground it, and if you do you actually make it a more dangerous situation. There is a lot of confusion over grounding … the primary purpose is to dissipate stray high voltage (think lightning strikes or shorted windings in transformers)
@@johnkayak10 so cool ….Brutus line…? Was that sold under Polaris? Did you do any mods to overcome the weight added? It would be very useful if easily removed…my main function was to haul fruit from the grove and carry tools….
I would not have that grounding rod. The issue now is you could have a nearby lightning strike which could then travel UP that rod, through your nice generator, and back down your homes ground rod. You just want everything to go back to the panel which has its ground
So should I have run the cable to my house grounding rod? Its 30-50 feet from where the generator is. The manual says either a grounding rod or plumbing pipe.
@@johnkayak10 The grounding conductor in your cable back to the panel is perfectly fine. As long as your panel has a ground which I assume it does, all you need to do is plug the generator in with the cable, and you're golden
Funny….I got a 7kw off of craigslist for almost nothing…the gen section was non functional…the engine is a screamer at 3,600rpm. My goal is to pulley drive it with a 4 pole head at 1800….the lower rpm would de rate it to 4-6 kw..without the excess noise….I’m at a loss on how you would destroy a kubota gen set except it’s previous owner was a highway sign co out on the desert…a brutal environment.

I dont understand why they tun it at 3600 rpms. Nearly all diesels run at 1800. It quieter and the engine will last longer. It will also save fuel since its in the best part of the power curve. I would buy one except for this problem
rpm doesnt matter if the engine is designed for it which this one is. We use one for a winery thats on 24 hours a day all year for operating the equipment and AC unit off grid in a place where its more money to install electrical than it is just to run the generator.

Like your pallet fork set up on the Polaris
I’m looking for a wrecked one to replace my front end…..
I hunted long and hard for mine and plow as well. Since Polaris discontinued making the Brutus line, attachments are getting thin.

Or I could run it in the garage to a conduit. I did conduit in my house. That would be good shouldn't it?

Can the shell be taken apart ? I need it even more compact. Does the shell/case have anything to do with cooling or function ?
My guess would be no, so many things connected to it. You may want to contact Kubota and see if you can order it like that.
