"Warranty Void if Removed" stickers are illegal under consumer protection laws within the United States and Canada. They are unenforceable by law so removing that sticker will literally do nothing. Your warranty will stay intact.
There's more to that. Even if you can force them to repair it under warranty, it still takes time and hassle. Not to mention, many retailers will actually handle that process for you meaning you don't need to pay for shipping, nor do you need to get an RMA number from them. If you break that seal, retailers will consider that out of warranty and force you to deal with MSI yourself since that Act doesn't have anything to do with the retailer handling the process for you. As far as I know, Canada has no such equivalent. None that are enforced by a government agency at least. If a government agency doesn't intervene, you're forced to take MSI to court making it unfeasible for many people. That was another big feature of the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act.
@@InfinityLabsTech so that is no to buying msi if you can't own your paid laptop. there is second m.2 and you can't add second ssd because you will void warranty. so you paid for it and you don't own it.
I'm considering buying this laptop in Poland EU, and before doing that I decided to post an official question to MSI regarding RAM upgrade. Their answer was basically that I can do RAM, HDD, SSD and even battery replacement on my own without voiding warranty. So I'm planning to use that answer from them in case of issues with the warranty.
If someone needs, its weight: 3.64 lb / 1.65 kg. The thing with battery consumption while connected to power is weird though. Thank you for the review.
Doooooood I am so excited for it. Too bad Dell doesn't actually have a publicly available marketing email. I just have to wait for them to reach out to me if I can't find one myself.
One thing I don’t like about this design is the flex of the laptop. It’s really meant to be operated on a table rather than you lap as the combination of the shell flexing and the wide trackpad it causes the cursor to register clicks.
Yeah and the biometric scanner built into the trackpad doesn't help that issue. I owned a msi p65 for about a week before I realized that I eventually would have operate it w/o the use of a mouse lol. The placement of that fingerprint scanner is a stain on all of these models.
The exhaust vents on the back look like they belong on a gaming laptop from 2013 lol. But yeah the aluminum Surface Laptop looks so nice. Too bad anodizing aluminum is expensive and is more prone to imperfections like streaking, banding and color mismatch between different panels. If it's not perfect, they need to throw the entire piece out and that adds to the cost.
@@InfinityLabsTech Either way, I prefer the variant with Alcantara. From my point of view, manufacturers are making it too easy to work with aluminium. Dell has also shown a nice version with carbon.
That's what I saw too when I googled it and read a couple forum threads from other people's experiences, but MSI and their retailers' "official" answer is it voids your warranty. The other thing to keep in mind is some retailers with physical stores will actually handle the entire warranty repair process for you for any laptops they sell so you dont need to pay for shipping. If you break it, retailers may tell you to ship it to MSI yourself since they have to strictly follow MSI's "official" policy, even if their employees make exceptions. The time and shipping costs saved is pretty big imo.
so uh I only now saw your comment, but I thought I would let you know that starting with my next video I'll be including that along with more stats/measurements. Feel free to make any requests even if they are in the minority demographic. The on-screen data is generally for people who want specifics that I don't have enough time to talk about vocally, so this request fits right in.
Bought this laptop about a month ago. Had a similar issue with static from the speakers at certain frequencies. I found that it was caused by resonance inside the 3.5mm jack. The jack was not fitted snugly enough. This is easy enough to fix though by using tape, prestik, etc to fix the jack in place.
Every review of this laptop says that one of the cons is that the fingerprint sensor is on the left hand side of the trackpad. Why don't you just use a finger on your left hand? It has a fingerprint too, and it's not like you are ever going to find yourself with only your right hand without your left.
It's an inconvenience that is discovered through real world use, not through theories that may not necessarily end up being true. 90% of the world is right handed, why would it be better to not use your dominant hand?
@@InfinityLabsTech I own this laptop too, so am speaking from real world experience. I’m having a hard time with comparing this to the Surface 15. You can’t upgrade the Surface, that thing is locked down like a MacBook. To get the highest specs of. Surface 15, you would pay twice as much as the Prestige 15 and still the Prestige can take up to 64GB of ram. I bought a 32GB DDR4 Samsung RAM card on Amazon for around $130.00 for my LG Gram 17. 2 of them can go into the Prestige 15. Higher res display, upgradable SSD - the Prestige has so much on the Surface laptop. The only things I liked more with the Surface was the sleek metal premium build quality and overall shell design (not counting those thick ugly bezels).
I really love the look of this laptop and the specs , i went for the msi gs66 in the end for like an extra 200 or something. But i would be really interested to see them develop the prestige series in the future
Great review. Just a question... Will the 4K panel option affect in any or other way to the GPU performance for games or video edition in comparision with the 1080P panel, since 4K panel has much more pixels to work with?
Was looking into buying a gaming laptop that also can be used for content creation however they are heavy and not portable enough when travelling. Between MSI prestige 15 and Zenbook 15 which one do you think I should get? Or could you recommend other laptops I can look into for content creation (hopefully can support 4k editing) and light gaming.
I would recommend the Prestige 15. If you use DaVinci Resolve 16, that program is so optimized that it handles 4K Sony A6300 footage easy. Same with the older 4 core model, and a lot of it comes from the GPU utilization. I checked yesterday and couldn't find any Zenbook 15s with Comet Lake CPUs so you won't find the new 6 core 25W CPUs in any Zenbooks right now. But I did review the current one and thermals were rather poor with no fan control. The Prestige has manual fan control and I measured 81C CPU / 66C GPU after 40 minutes of prime95 and Furmark stress testing, fans in max.
Razer Blade Stealth - similar hardware but 13". Not cheap though. Zenbook doesn't have thunderbolt, otherwise looks a nice laptop. I'm tempted by this Prestige though (15 is better than the 14 btw).
If I provide an Amazon link and Microsoft has a sale going on for 15% off, you'd be paying 15% more than you should. It's always better to check multiple stores for any sales and discounts. Last year when the GTX 1650 configuration of the PS63 Modern came out, Microsoft dropped it from like $1500 to $1200 while Newegg and Amazon were at retail price. Same specs and everything
LUL TF2. Play dodgeball mode with 140 FOV like me. Editing it's great, especially with DaVinci Resolve. You can edit 4K videos on this comfortably, Premiere I'm not entirely sure cause I haven't used it since 2017 because it's so slow. And by streaming I assume you mean watching, not broadcasting. I'm not sure how well it would handle broadcasting

Great quick review but i would still like if you would mention that the cpu's tdp is limited to 15w when the laptop is unplugged compared to 45w-50W when on charger.
Thanks! The i7 10710u is configurable up to a 25W TDP like I said near the start which is what this is rated for. If I run prime95, it'll boost to 45W. If I hit it with CPU and GPU, CPU drops to 25W but never below that. On battery, the CPU performance will drop by 1/3 on all Windows laptops, independent of CPU. If you install macOS or Linux on it, you'll notice it will perform identically to when it's plugged in. Not really sure why they don't make it an option in Windows
@@InfinityLabsTech I haven't seen XPS 15 drop the cpu performance by 1/3 when unplugged, that's what's surprising me. XPS 15 is one of quite a few examples which's cpu doesn't get power limited when using the laptop on battery.

@@InfinityLabsTech that's a good point but I still think that it would have been better if you mentioned that it's the Prestige 15. Still, great video, just a tad bit amateur. Keep up the great work!
Pros - CPU - Memory 16GB and upgradeable - 2nvme slots - huge battery - usbc charging Cons - Price (I'd like closer to $999) - Build quality - Can't keep topped up during load with the supplied power brick (not a huge deal tbh) - Silly factory seal
PS63 should be cheaper by a lot so go with that. It's the older model so this new one will force the PS63 down in price, and the improvements aren't worth the extra cost for your specific use case

Quentin Damour I’m using the 14inch version of S740. Mostly use for browsing and binging movies, battery life is insanely long. Idk about the 15inch tho.
It doesn't supply enough power. The laptop can consume more power than the charger can supply, forcing the laptop to get that remaining power from the battery.
4:20 - Are you sure the screen is a touch screen? Also it definitely isn't a 3:2 aspect ratio. This is a 16:9. You don't know the RAM type? You literally had physically access to the laptop. Just take 15 seconds and check the RAM type in command-line and search the part number online. More like "Infinity IDKs & Misinformation".
I fucked it up by not editing the sub-text under the GTX 1650. You can tell by the conflicting brightness compared to the display measurements. Also, Windows is a lie. It misreported the type of RAM and the number of channels on the ASUS Zephyrus S. It labelled it as 4 channel when there's only 2 so I don't trust software readings. If I can't confirm without any doubt, then all I can say is what I said. It's possibly SO-DIMM, but don't quote me if I'm wrong. If you want me to feed you assumptions, go read the manufacturer's spec sheet.
I've heard from many people that there is a constant fan noise on this laptop, even when idling but is barely noticeable apparently. Anyone have any firsthand experience of this?
I've never really noticed the fans on this, I can only really hear them when actually pressing my ear to the laptop, only notice them when running high performance games and even then they are really quiet

Hmm I'll try and check that if I ever get access to it again. But I did confirm that the CPU does drop to 15W on battery. Might add that as something to check when reviewing performance in the future
10-11 hours of battery life, what exactly is your usage on your laptops?
The company says that if you opened it it doesn't affect warranty
Good review. No bs and face intermission of reviewer like other bs reviewers. Thumbs up!
what is the name of the program you were using to test the keyboard at 1:40 ?
finally a type C , POWER BRICK
When you have it plugged in, will you lose or gain battery percentage when cpu and gpu are on load, like playing games.
How is the MSI Prestige 15 compare to the Razer Blade 15?
Zephyrus G14 seems like a good competitor to this
g14 beats it this isnt my channel but if you like i can show you my review
So is working 100% in power without the AC Adapter? Or does it need to be connected to use 100% power?
Is it good enough for running 3DsMax,Blender,and other animation app??
Wait so you can't load the cpu and gpu while also charging it? What the hell is the point of having discrete graphics then?
Can you recommend this for video editing?
Suddenly seeing new laptops featuring Intel chips instead of Ryzen 4000 just feels out of date already...
Hope MSI have a few high end premium Ryzen 4000 laptops planned, especially a 17inch 4k with Ryzen 4900H, Thunderbolt and a 99whr battery
Can we have the msi creator 15 m review?
Why are you using the phlog for dodgeball
I'm looking to edit videos on Premiere and having encoder open at the same time to encode proxy files. would this be a good laptop for that? Considering it does not have any SD slot
Just a little tip, you never mentioned which laptop you are reviewing leaving the assumption that this is the next generation of the PS63.
It is the successor to the PS63. The PS63 also says Prestige below the keyboard and has the same design. I think they just wanted to rebrand it with an easier to remember name cause "PS63 Modern" isn't very catchy lol.
@@InfinityLabsTech that's a good point but I still think that it would have been better if you mentioned that it's the Prestige 15. Still, great video, just a tad bit amateur. Keep up the great work!
You can’t void your warranty by taking the laptop apart only if you change something or break it yourself somehow
Keep up the great reviews. Subbed.
Pros
- CPU
- Memory 16GB and upgradeable
- 2nvme slots
- huge battery
- usbc charging
Cons
- Price (I'd like closer to $999)
- Build quality
- Can't keep topped up during load with the supplied power brick (not a huge deal tbh)
- Silly factory seal
Sadly it is hardly available in the Netherlands
what was the name of the game that he had been playing?
Team Fortress 2 - Dodgeball mode. You can find servers that run that mod under Community Servers since it's not a default game mode.
If i'm not a gamer and just need it for photoshop and office, would your recomend this or ps63?
PS63 should be cheaper by a lot so go with that. It's the older model so this new one will force the PS63 down in price, and the improvements aren't worth the extra cost for your specific use case
@@InfinityLabsTech thank you!
First...
First person to say that this is a great video
Happy you liked it!
Please review the Asus Zephyrus M GU502!
Next Msi modern 15 dude
Is this a better laptop them the xps 15 7590?
I have same but my suddenly the mousepad stopped working
Does this enough for intermediate 3d solidworks?
Just chose the Yoga S740 from Lenovo instead of this one, let's see when it arrives how it compares !
Quentin Damour I’m using s740 yoga. It is one of the best laptop to purchase!
@@ridzuan786 I can agree on that now ! :) This laptop is perfect i wonder why they don't advertise it so much
I'm also waiting for my one to come! I'm really looking forward to it.
Do you have any problems so far? Things to keep an eye on? And how's gaming on it (if you do it at all)? And can you say something about the battery life? Hope you can shorten my time waiting :) thx for the answers:)
Oh and did you already tried charging it via the Thunderbolt ports? Cause I read a few times that this isn't possible, which would be a shame...
@@X_Y_Z123 Only complain is some backlight bleeding in the borders of the screen so when you watch a video with black bars on top and bottom it's not fully black but I don't notice it otherwise, performances are quite good for video editing, only game i tried on it is minecraft with shaders it was working like expected for this gpu.
Battery life sucks, they advertise 14 hours it's more about 3/4 if you're actually using it.
Quentin Damour I’m using the 14inch version of S740. Mostly use for browsing and binging movies, battery life is insanely long. Idk about the 15inch tho.
Everything is fine....i just hope everyone can play Dota 2 on it...
Wait, what? The charger is not able to charge the laptop during gaming? Or did I get that wrong?
It doesn't supply enough power. The laptop can consume more power than the charger can supply, forcing the laptop to get that remaining power from the battery.
11 hour usage or stanby idle?
Same
U
I can't understand why they make low speakers!
What game you play that Red points thing
Could you please share the temperatures?
40 minutes of prime95 and furmark, fans on max, 81C CPU and 66C GPU.
Thanks!
where did u go 😭😭😭
strangely enough, no processor model on your title because at this point, an intel laptop is underwhelming.
LIKE MICROSOFT LAPTOP
i am really disappointed that there is no amd option
how do you activate your gpu?
Typing program in the video??
Nice design, but screen is outdated badly and small improvements on graphic cards on last 5 years or so.
finger print sensor in the top left literally just reach ur index finger over bro?
LMAO
Summit series if possible
I've heard from many people that there is a constant fan noise on this laptop, even when idling but is barely noticeable apparently. Anyone have any firsthand experience of this?
I've never really noticed the fans on this, I can only really hear them when actually pressing my ear to the laptop, only notice them when running high performance games and even then they are really quiet
@@icy3326 ah ok but alot of people in reddit were complaining about it, so i thought it must be quite a loud noise for them to complain about it. Thanks for the reply, thats pretty much convinced me to get it soon. I have one more question though if you don't mind, since this is my first gaming laptop: how do you switch from NVIDIA GPU to integrated graphics as I don't want GPU to always operate and use excess battery life.
I don't have this laptop anymore so I can't say for sure. You can right click on each program and there will be an option "Run with graphics processor". By default, it will auto switch between integrated and discrete based on the programs you have running. It's called NVIDIA Optimus.
@@InfinityLabsTech (lol was not expecting that reply) Thanks for the reply. So i can untick for specific programs. Sorry but just to make sure, if i unticked that option, it means integrated intel graphics will be used right, not the NVIDIA GPU (im new to this gaming laptop stuff)
HDMI port 2.0 or 1.4 ?
How are you able to air blast with the phlogistinator
All flamethrowers can airblast in dodgeball mode
Can you dual boot linux with this?
Mate, what the program for text typing ? t=118

Im waiting for the g66 stealth
I'm debating between this prestige 15 and the gs66 (rtx 2060)... it will be ~500-600 USD different in my country. Which one do you think is better in term of value?
