Hola Xavier, I saw you play last Wednesday night and would like to thank you for a magnificent performance. I liked how you introduced the pieces and guitars in several languages and the additional surprise of you singing Granada was much appreciated. Very few performers that I have been to see stand at the door and shake each member of the audience by the hand as you did so bravo to you for doing everything right and thanks again. Almost forgot, the playing was superb!! JS Bach - brilliant.
Terrific playing... excellent interpretation - wonderful - maybe the best version of this I've heard on Y.T. (and there are some excellent recordings). Thanks for posting.
Thanks for all your comments! Porpoisefathom: The counterpoint (in this case, actually the added bases) is always a personal version. I accept your disagree, off course. I studied figured bass (the baroque bass playing) for years, even I touched teorbo and other early instruments. Besides of that, I saw deeply the own Bach transcriptions, especially the ones for lute, as the BWV 995, for example. I must admit, also, that I take a lot of ideas from the Lute transcription of this suite by Hopkinson Smith, one of the greatest lute players in the world, who was also my teacher in some Master Class, many years ago. In any case, as I told you, the transcription of Bach’s music is always a personal question.
Love the basses from 2:54 onwards for a few bars......i do the same ( copying you ), and i extend the idea even further.....best polyphonic transcription i've heard...BRAVO!
This is just excellent! You actually managed to make music out of this and didn't turned it into a wrestling match as it seems to be common place nowadays ;-). Great playing; great dynamics and shaping of music ideas. Guitar is great too. I just might not really like the added reverb or chorus or whatever post effect is applied, seems a tiny bit over the edge, I would prefer more the natural sound, but no doubt this is excellent. You are great maestro. By the way I definitely like your extra basses, I am in no way fascist about a note here or there, and as evident from Bach's own re-writing, he wasn't either. I think you got them very nicely. If you ever decide to publish the score, I will definitely invest into it.
Wonderful. Please add my name to those begging you to publish your arrangement. I've put my own fingering to the Serge Robert arrangement I downloaded but I'm not satisfied having heard yours. Delightfully played.
Amazing performance of this piece! Have you played the other cello suites too? I see everyone play no 1 in D but I'd love to see you interpret the original G major version of cello suite No 1!
I understand your interest in the first cello suite played in G. Actually, I don't think its possible with a normal guitar. The cello starts with a C1 and the guitar with a E1. This suite needs the C1. The sixth suite is special beacause is originally written for a rare instrument, a cello piccolo, that starts in G1 (with the notes G1, D2, A2, E3). Beacause of that is possible playing in the original tone.
Xavier Coll well that would explain why I can't find a guitar version in G. I did find a version by Stanley Yates in C that I personally think is closer sounding to the original.
Gracias.
It was an excellent performance of Bach with excellent technic and nuance.
Excellent performance. I liked it so much.
WOW. Your additions are welcome and amazing. Really well played friend. Thank you.

Thank you so much, Mr. Coll! Mr. J.S.B. would have loved your "playing" with his score--good jazz, great Bach.
Really beautiful playing.
Excellent transcription.

Very nice. Sounds like the real thing, unlike the romanticized versions à la Yamashita.
I like this interpretation. Kazuhito Yamashita does a great job on this also.
