$12 Tablecloth Upcycled to Circle Skirt | Easy DIY Sewing
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 5 окт 2024
- In one of my easiest sewing projects ever, I upcycle a $12 round tablecloth from Target into a circle skirt with an elastic waistband. To my surprise, this took me less than 1.5 hours to sew & film this project and there was zero ironing! Hitting up home stores for textiles like sheets and tablecloths is something I do pretty often, as there are great deals on these items I can use for anything from quilt backings to clothing. I tend to prefer woven, natural fabrics like cotton or linen and avoid materials like polyester / acrylic / microfiber.
Supplies Needed:
Round Tablecloth (I used 70 inch for a midi length skirt)
1 inch wide (could go larger) plush elastic
Seraflex Elastic Thread 130 Meter by Mettler

Target no longer has the exact tablecloth used in this video, but here are a couple similar ones with cute prints

What are your go-to sources for cheap fabric? Let me know here in the comments if you have any great finds!
Sheets from the thrift stores, to make a matching summer blouse and shorts and bag.
B&M in the UK is absolutely fantastic for reduced price throws, duvet covers and table cloths.
I bought a fancy red 70" round tablecloth with embroidered Poinsettias last year after Christmas marked 70% off. I'm turning it into a great skirt for a Square Dance next weekend. Can't wait.
That is awesome!
That looks really cute with the jean jacket....thanks for sharing
This is super cute! I just bought table cloth at a yard sale, I really thought it would be a cute skirt. So I did a search and found you 😃
Very clear instructions ! I source cheap fabric in the outlet bins at Goodwill. The items are sold by weight.
Your almost 40, girl I thought your were like 21, I subscribed bc I want to learn how to sew and you describe everything clearly
Thank you for sharing this tutorial! I bought a lovely, genuine linen gray and white print round tablecloth from the clearance section for $12 with the intention of making a skirt or a swing or skater dress, but TBH, I wasn’t sure where to begin because I was afraid that it wouldn’t come out right. This was really helpful. Thank you!
Cute skirt and lovely fabric. Oh how I miss taking my grandmother new curtains she forgot she had and making clothes😍
Super cute! Thanks for sharing.
I don't have a go to place for cheap fabrics, but you definitely gave me some good ideas....thanks 😊
It looks great. Love the colours.
Cut the offcut into strips see together and make matching headband then you won't need a hat.
Great video I just don't wear dresses or skirts lol
Nice one jen
Really great idea! I may have to try this. 🙂 You could maybe make a pull string, wristlet pouch purse to go with the skirt out of the extra material.
I’ve gone to thrift stores like Goodwill & Salvation Army for sheets, tablecloth and remnants to make a lot of my projects. I’m currently making a skirt out of a round tablecloth I found and a local thrift store for $4.00! Can’t wait to see how it turns out! Btw, I’m glad I found your RUclips channel and I subscribed. Looking forward to all your tips and creations!
This was one of my favorite sewing tutorials ever! Subscribed. I'm going to go to eBay and look for a cute circle tablecloth.
Question - I like to sew clothes that can adjust for various sizesz i have elastic with buttonholes, and was thinking of doing a circle wrap skirt. Any recommendations on how that might work best?
Great job
If you're in the UK, tons of B&M shops have reduced duvet covers, pillow cases, throws, table cloths etc...
They work great for projects like this
Have you done a good twirl in this? Looks like it was made to twirl!
I love it! Thanks for tips! I think in terms of doll clothes..youngest granddaughter is 8. Could make a matching Barbie skirt. I spend $8 in Target for just cheap looking Barbie clothes. 😳
Very Genius Idea
A beret would look good
A little late to the comments but you could have made a patch pocket with the extra fabric.
Thanks!
Really appreciate the super thanks!!!
Could a kilt be made similar to this skirt??
How are you finding your CS7000 machine is holding up after all these months of use? Would you still recommend it? It seems to have great features, how's the durability, the tensions, etc? Thanks!
So far I haven’t had any notable issues and it’s been the only domestic machine I’ve used this year. It can handle general sewing pretty well. Would *not* recommend for heavy duty projects or stuff like leather or thick fabrics.
@@SewingReport Thanks!
How does the length work? If you cut out less than 10 inch radius, shouldn’t the length be 60” or more?
A 70" skirt has a radius, or length when folded in half, of 35". When you remove 10" you're left with a 25" skirt. The length is determined by how much you remove as the waist size cut.
