    Pete, I have been recording for well over 60 years, an I pad makes up for what was a room of equipment. Your info/videos are incredible! A huge help for an old jazz musician recording artist. Many, many thanks for your brilliant stuff.

    You got me on the tape cassette 2 plugin now Pete.. I see you just did a live on it within a mix.. I guess it’s good for single tracks as well as during final mixing when all tracks are bounced together?

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  Год назад

      Yeah I kinda forgot about it but it’s actually an awesome little plugin to get that little bit of analog warmth, either on a single track or a whole mix.

    Wow thanks! Any tips please on good microphones for vocals to directly attach to iPad?

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  3 года назад +1

      Hey there. I would go with an audio interface and a separate mic personally. Any Lightning based mics like the Shure MV88 will be obsolete if and when Apple move to USB-C. Here’s the sort of setup I like - ruclips.net/video/Sc-_LiuqiRA/видео.html

      @@PeteJohnsMusic Thanks for the awesome videos! My confusion is I have a Behringer C-1U mic with USB output so it won’t plug into the audio interfaces you describe which have XLR input? I tried plugging the mic directly into the iPad via a USB-C adapter but it sounds really quiet. I wonder if I should get a powered USB hub as you mention and then try my mic again. Or maybe I’m better ditching this mic and trying one of the other mics you recommend. Hope this makes sense!

      Sorry my friend. Looks like I never returned to answer this? Apologies. I would suggest joining the Create Record Release Facebook group and asking over there if you are still having trouble with this. Cheers! Pete.

    Hey Pete, I’m new to your channel, and your videos have really helped me. I have a question, and I was wondering if you could answer it.
    I use GarageBand on my phone and like to record myself playing the guitar and drums and layer it on top of each other. It’s worked for quite a while now, and I’ve been happy with the results, but recently, when I try to record my guitar on top of the drums, the microphone records the drums from the first recording as well as the guitar. The result is a really weird, echoey, almost distorted sound. I just want to know how to record the guitar part without the microphone picking up the drums from the first recording too. Would be great if you could help out with that.

      Hey there. So just confirming that you’re using headphones? It sounds like microphones bleed? Check out this video for details.

    Would you use some of these FX for recording a sax solo? I usually just use audio recorder>voice with nothing but a touch of reverb, the amount dependent on the song.

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  3 года назад

      Yeah, if you need little more gravel in that Sax then drive or distortion can indeed help out.
