Beautiful restoration no doubt! I'm glad that there's people who have the money to collect these cars but I've gotta drive mine! It would be too tempting to drive that car if I owned it!
I graduated in 1971 from Kenmore East high school in Towanda New York a suburb of Buffalo. We had a teacher that drove a green 69 Z/28 white stripes don't remember what color interior., loved that car! Craig Pitre
I about fell out of my chair when I watched this video because I also owned a 69 Z28 in these exact colors! I had mine in the early 2000’s, didn’t own it very long because after buying it I decided I didn’t like the color combo and wanted to change it to a white interior but all my car buddies told me it was so unusual that it would be a crime to change the colors. The one I had had set in the back of a machine shop in SoCal for decades and was discovered by a local Camaro nut. Anyway don’t mean to ramble on but just thought it was a great video on such a rare car and the importance that was put on the color combination. Btw I do have pictures of the one I had.
I'm doing the same thing with the original owners of a real 1973 Pro Stock Vega Body in White I bought 5 years ago. I took it back to Illinois and met with the first 4 owners. Have lots of pictures and documentation on the car. Was a great trip and I would love to do it again when it's finished. But take it to the track it raced at the most. Union Grove Wisconsin
I was taken aback at the news in the video that this green on green Z was passed over at auctions due to the color combo. Surely by now those individuals are kicking themselves. This car is superb in green.
Beautiful restoration 💪🔥👍, that JL8 option was very rare. Personally I never cared for the lite green interior I always preferred the midnight green interior with green exterior Frost green and Forest green, white interior looked great with Rally green exterior .
I own a 69 RS/SS 350. Installed is the heavy duty service unit rear end that was over the counter with 3.73 gears. Not as rare as a true JL8 car but I did put JL8 as part of my license plate.
Makes me wonder if my 69 Nova is still on the road. I had to leave it in Minot, ND back in 84-85 because as a poor Airman I couldn't afford to keep fixing everything.
As a former owner of a 1967 Camaro RS, with a modified 327/4-spd, I can relate to the top speed he mentioned. I did 141 mph (1x). I really could have used 4-wheel disc brakes…
All you had to do is truck it out, 12" disc on the front 11" drums on the back. It's an old school trick back in the day and work just as good. Plus you didn't have all the problems with parking brakes associated with rear disc brakes.
Too bad he didn’t order the RS option. My 68 Z/28 I purchased in ‘74 was the same color and a friend of mine owns it today. But I still own my 70 Z/28 that I bought off the original owner back in 1981.
I gave away a 1968 Camaro R/S. Blue with black vinal top and black vinal interior. It was a V8, power glide which is why I lost interest. I traded this car for a quarter panel restoration on a Buick convert able. I'm glad it went to a good kid because with my luck it was a 327 with 360 HP. This car would not start. After a battery and starter install, I think it had a cracked bell housing or torque convertor. To this day I kick myself for not restoring this car. I'm glad I have a Corvette C4 today to make compensation.
Great job on the restoration and telling the story of an amazing Camaro
I want to cry, I once owned a 69 Z!
Mr Boyette sure seems like a great guy
See the old boy behind the wheel a real tearjerker
I love the original was able to drive it. What a classy move.

I was thinking the same thing.
That is a great looking car and the fact that it's a rare variant is even better.
Really cool story and great job of preserving it’s history!
you gave bob a gift of a lifetime!
At the end of the video you can see the true joy in the driver.

Very cool! Glad you liked the project.
Great story. Very well done !
Beautiful 1969 Z/28 with the super rare 4 wheel disc brake option and probably just as rare the medium green standard interior 💪👍🔥 !

If I remember right the 4 wheel disk brake cars had 1-5/8 rear axle diameter instead of 1-3/8 diameter axles for Trans Am racing.

Somehow I don’t think this car looked that good when it was brand new. Beautiful work and beautiful car. That’s coming from a Ford guy.
I truly hope Mr. Boyette still owns the car.
Did you even watch the entire video ? He hasn't owned it in 4 decades.
Great story and presentation. Can you share the restorers contact information?
Have this exact car in Die Cast 1/18 , Highway 61. 3:73 would Not be my choice to do a 145mph. run would feel more comfortable with 3:31, 3:55.
I have a 69 z28 black with white stripes 50,000 original miles

AWESOME STORY IN THE PROCESS OF RESTORATION OF MY 1991 OBS SHORT BED ON SPEEDSHACK RUclips
Needs power steering.
It needs a big block for the street. The small 302 hasn't enough torque.
Paint isn't correct
Bold comment followed by zero explanation. Would love to hear your proof.
Light green interior was “rare” because it was ugly and no one wanted it. 😂
F UGLY and its a Z28 with a vinyl top? Ok this must have beem the last Z ever made and Chevy said who cares get it out.
Sell it back to him, cheap
This guy should get hit a another z28 if I had that kind of money I’d get him a one
