- “Zap!” or Zapateado Insólito was a beautiful Covid gift. Claude Lapalme, my dear friend and colleague, in the beginning months of the pandemic, offered to write solo pieces as gifts for his musician friends.
It was such an honour to have this piece written for me which provided so much needed excitement and challenge during a lonely time. It is a fiery dance with a still and magical middle bit to let us catch our breath.
I am so thrilled to share this brand new piece with you, paired with the beautiful sights of my beloved new home here in Edmonton and drenched in the poetry of Federico García Lorca. I hope it gets your feet moving and your heart bursting with excitement. We’re ready to get going!
- Laura Veeze, ESO Violin I
