Bless you Jasper L'Estrange. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Big, big hugs to you all. 🕊️🕊️🕊️✝️ Did. He. Have. To. Die? Couldn't his hair have gone stark white from the frightening experience? And there I was laughing at him thinking he was looking into a mirror; knowing full well it was the ghost he didn't believe existed. Love your musical additions, and sound effects, as well as your expertly portrayed characters. Very well done Monsieur L'Estrange 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏.
@Waning Moon Cancer Thank you - and Happy Thanksgiving to you too! The fact that he died was one of the things I appreciated about the story. It was a really bleak and chilly full-stop to an otherwise rather jolly story, and it caught me by surprise when I first read it. Glad you enjoyed.
@@EnCryptedHorror Yes, I did, and always do enjoy your work. All of the happiness and fun seemed to me a foreshadowing of a sorrowful ending. The young lady's trepidation of something going wrong was another good clue. Even so, I was hoping to be wrong. Thank you for this gift, you're awesome Jasper.🕊️🕊️🕊️✝️
Stories from this era-written before WWI came and obliterated both innocence and empire-seem to always contain a certainty & an optimism about “society” and “our” way of life….. How very fortunate were those lucky enough to have experienced such an age….
This is so deliciously atmospheric. I love the author's description of the moonlight, the darkening of his eyes, the powdering of his face. Both simply done but I was there with him looking out over the graveyard. Masterfully told as ever. You really are an absolute legend ❤
Yours is the voice of honeyd toast sunshine n ice cream-Cold winter walks footsteps crunching on sparkling snow-a voice for all seasons-THANK YOU JASPER
Amazing story and narration! I like this a lot. I really enjoyed it. The naysaying and insufferable friend strikes again..... As always, the music and background sounds are amazing. I love the sound of the crunching snow when people walked through the snow. Making a sled or toboggan out of a wine box is awesome. Great idea! The description of the night outside when Armitage played the prank is amazing. Timeless description of nature. Great job!
That one ended more horror that expected - was expecting more of a joke ending. You put just the right amount of sound effects to enhance the story without taking away from your wonderful voice.
Ah the best laid plans, eh? I can only imagine how the surviving friends would explain what they had seen. : o And that poor young lady who had made the costume! This truly is a tale with an unhappy ending all around. Well told, and lots of fun though. Thank you!
Fun story. Where do you dig up all your amazing sound effects??? I was hoping the story would turn a bit more Wodehousian where the young female of the species is decidedly more Diabolical.
That would have been a great twist to the tale! The sound effects I mostly get from Freesound (a creative commons site where people upload sound effects and recordings). Every now and again I can't find what I'm after and have to create something myself.
Thoroughly enjoyable Jasper, thank you for yet another tale enhanced by your brilliance. It makes me remember another tale about a long gallery, which everyone had to leave by midnight. Only one guest fell asleep and ....... Can you tell me the name of it?
@@EnCryptedHorror That's the one (with Fear in the title). I found it read by Tony Walker, whom I used to listen to until I lost my heart to L"Estrange. Thanks Jasper, and take care of yourself.

Hello! Here's a reading of a classic Christmas ghost story by Louisa Baldwin from waaaay back in 1895. I hope you enjoy it.

What a fabulous tale! Mister L'Estrange, your voice is like warm honey.
Good one Mr L'Estrange, as usual. Your eerie stories are always compelling, but I am as much addicted to your wonderful haunting voice. Thanks again.
Always welcome 👍

Wow, what an excellent reading of a ghost story that’s always given me the heebie jeebies! 😱

This was a totally unexpected surprise because I understand how busy you are! Thanks again Jasper!
That's a great story - thank you.
JOY! You've uploaded a new one!!! Great!!! And it's SOOOO 1895. The banjo and singing: straight Jerome K. Jerome!
Yep!
Indeed, I did enjoy this ... *TY Jasper*
That was superb! You are truly an excellent narrator. Thank-you for posting!
Thank you 🙏 in hospital that’s my bed neighbour- we both enjoyed it and she is 92 going on 17 mentally!
Being in hospital is never nice. Hope you are doing okay (as well as you can be, at any rate) 🙏💐

Oh, that was fabulous! Dunno how I missed that one. Thank you, J! Your excellent performances always leave me shivering.
Your voice is wonderful, but also eerie. It gives me the shivers. I'm not sure what to think of it.
Wow 🤩 Wonderfully voiced, Jasper!! So excited for this! Happy Turkey Pardon Day 🦃 🏳 from the States!

The poor girl that made the monk s cloth..she must regret it all her life. 😮😯😲
Although she could have cheered herself up with "I told you so..." 🤭😁

The last sentence was predictable but satisfying nevertheless!
