@Kolby72 deliveryboy1 mentioned airbags so I thew in the airbag part just to cover all bases. Could you tell me specifically which laws were changed because I can't find any changes to the Tier 2 diesel regs that were already in place. Everything I've been able to find says that a diesel wrangler was promised, then simply never appeared. Some good news though is that Euro 6 emissions regulations will match US ones so we should have more diesel engine options around 2014.
how much would it cost to buy the kit, as well as the engine & running gear for this vehicle? i want one so badly, i dont care if i have to put the whole damn thing together myself. i want that diesel in it btw
currently comparing my mpgs from my jk to a diesel jk at the current diesel price, I'm not saving much, if at all. but it still would be badass to have
Interestingly, here in Denmark where I live, you can buy two types of fuel all over Denmark ... Diesel and 95 Octane Unleaded Petrol. you may be able to buy other stuff, like Bio Diesel as well, but Diesel and 95 Octane is everywhere.
@tommy35ss I know it´s not about the horsepower off roaders want but most of them do care about that as well.. beleive me or not! and power doesn´t mean only torque but anyway the torque in gas engine is 315 Nm / 4000 rpm and mileage is 16.7 l but in diesel engine the torque is 410 Nm / 2000-2600 rpm and the mileage is 12.0 l. so now you can see the difference...
@yannick4123 they're making a big deal out of it because you havent been able to buy a diesel 4x4 that wasnt a huge truck for a very long time in the US, because most people in the us associate diesels with huge freight trucks and such.
While I love my pentastar, I'm definitely going to be getting a diesel if they ever make them...Surprised they never have, seems like the demand is there...
Most of our Jeep Wranglers here in South Africa are Diesel... no one wants the petrol ones... and that goes for all 4x4 manufacturers here in South Africa... Hummer also build all the Right hand drive Hummer H3's here but with no Diesel Engines... so no one baught it. Then they tried to give you a Harley Davidson bike for free if you buy the Hummer H3 and still no one bought it because we need and want diesel 4x4's I guess that was also a great part of Hummer's collapse..
i thought they didnt sell d-90's or d-110's in the u.s because they didnt have air bags... i dont understand why you cant sell a diesel jeep or a d-110... just dumb...
Because this is a "kit car," would one be able to put in the Powerstroke 6.7l V8 (400 hp and 800 ft/lbsof torque) with Ford's 6R140 transmission? If so, then this car would be unbeatable and unrivaled by anything else on the market!
@Kolby72 airbags have been required in all trucks and SUVs since 1996, and Tier 2 diesel regulations started being implemented in 2004 and had to be in place for light vehicles by 2008 so I'm at a loss to see how Obama is responsible.
I have 09 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon with 2,8 liter turbodiesel engine which makes 177 HP and compare to the 3,8 liter gas engine which makes 202 HP its only 25 HP difference and thats nothing. I´m really happy with this engine the power is pretty much same but the consumtion is much lower with diesel. In EU diesels are in regular for ages. Its better fot the nature (global warming) and fot your wallet (money) :)
@wormfood868 Well for starters I see diesel Jeeps everyday here in Germany, they have more HP and have more Torque. Unfortunatly we cant have these because our president revamped the laws regarding what diesels are aloud in what vehicles. That is what Obama has to do with it. The 2011 Wrangler was supposed to have a diesel option but it cant....and I never said anything about airbags???????
Why build a kit car like this for more money when you can buy a Rubicon JKU, and throw 35's/37's and have navigation, leather, heated seats, remote start, for less, even serious off road enthusiasts wouldnt need more then a rubicon on 37's let alone someone using it for safari type adventures that is going off road but not purposely navigating through deep mud and steep rock, and you can be assured that this car is not backed by any type of warranty and parts are not redily available, ill stick to my warranty'd 2012 JKU on 35's with a 3 inch lift, its all you will ever want or need when off road
@offroader5 can be 2 door or available 4 door. 4 door is for personnel carrying and armor protection.
So whats the ballpark price on a basic setup like this?
@Kolby72 deliveryboy1 mentioned airbags so I thew in the airbag part just to cover all bases. @offroader5 there are two options, either a 4dr or a 2dr on a 4dr frame
Love the hood. Does AEV make them?
@MetalDrummerInFlames they have had a diesel Wrangler over here in europe for awhile now....
I thought the J8 was a 2 door "long box" like the older Unlimited but as the new body style?
Looks like it has a wider track tham the standard JK.
@tallzdatank I guess that is a fair comment, not many small Trucks available in this format with the same capability.
We need this in Australia. This is ideal.

thats sick what does it run 60 grand ill take 2
currently comparing my mpgs from my jk to a diesel jk at the current diesel price, I'm not saving much, if at all. but it still would be badass to have
chain or gear driven transfer case?
Interestingly, here in Denmark where I live, you can buy two types of fuel all over Denmark ... Diesel and 95 Octane Unleaded Petrol. you may be able to buy other stuff, like Bio Diesel as well, but Diesel and 95 Octane is everywhere.
Thats awesome i would love to have a diesel wrangler.
@mtb416 what do you mean 'largely dismantled'? do you just go around saying things like that to sound smart?
@tommy35ss I know it´s not about the horsepower off roaders want but most of them do care about that as well.. beleive me or not! and power doesn´t mean only torque but anyway the torque in gas engine is 315 Nm / 4000 rpm and mileage is 16.7 l but in diesel engine the torque is 410 Nm / 2000-2600 rpm and the mileage is 12.0 l. so now you can see the difference...
whats the price tag for one of these bad boys
@yannick4123 they're making a big deal out of it because you havent been able to buy a diesel 4x4 that wasnt a huge truck for a very long time in the US, because most people in the us associate diesels with huge freight trucks and such.

@offroader5 you r talking about the j8 sarge which was built fot the israel army
@tallzdatank Egypt jew whats the diff?
@bordenwesley Id rather put a 6.7l cummins turbo diesel but it wont fit in there.
Whats AEV? I'm not familier with that company.
@Kolby72 Agreed

the sad part is that it's not cheap to build a jeep like this, so as fun as it would be to have a lot of people can't afford it
you can chose one or the other
@wacey2002 umm it was the Egyptian army dude not israel.
Yeah, true that.
i thought they didnt sell d-90's or d-110's in the u.s because they didnt have air bags... i dont understand why you cant sell a diesel jeep or a d-110... just dumb...

@mtb416
seriously? whats with you dude?
It needs a little more clearance.

aev stands for "american expedition vehicles" they make upgrade kits for different vehicles
4X4ever JEEP
DE VEHICULOS MILITARES A HISTORICOS AVENTUREROS
@mtb416
like what ever bud
Hahah, the voice crack at 0:23
They aren't cheap, from what I've heard they're 40k +
Diesel in wranglers is nothing new. But all diesel wranglers have been exported and to mainly Europe.
I've watched this video at least 20 times but it seems like this is never going to be sold to the American public. :(

This is the way Chrysler should have built it in the first place instead of tailoring them to soccer moms.
I'd do this for like $70 grand
American Expedition Vehicles
