Sorry it's been so long since my last real upload! This video is a bit rough around the edges (6:33 lmao), but I am back and ready to make more content! Hope you guys enjoy!
Couple of things I disagree with here but most of the information was pretty accurate. The number of runners a game has on its leaderboard doesn't legitimize or delegitimize it as a speedrun. Especially in the case of Rehydrated, for which the majority of week 1 runners were submitting 2-minute speedruns for a shiny new game that could be learned in under half an hour. Ultimately, the people who complained about having their runs removed probably weren't planning on playing past the initial hype of the game anyway. Battle for Bikini Bottom has earned its place in the speedrunning community through the apparent effort and passion the community has exerted over many years despite being ridiculed for many of them, not through a superficial number of new submissions on a $30 steam game beatable in under 3 minutes by anyone. Otherwise, great video!
We decided against a split because it would divide runners into two seperate groups, limit long-term competition, and cause confusion among which strats are possible on which framerate. Having two Any% WRs exist at the same time isn't ideal either. Having a set standard prevents all of these issues and keeps everything whole.
JBHJ would it be possible to add it under extended categories in the future? since those are generally seen as less “serious” than main categories and are lesser known, it could allow for use of the unique tricks without drawing too much attention from the main sections
@@eepiestgirll there's really no point in that addition because even 2 days after the board decision, people learned that many of the strategies people complained would be lost were doable by other means. Considering the world record was beaten in under 24 hours after the decision it further goes to show how insignificant the higher fps tricks were in the long run.
I thought it was weird that Rehydrated died so quickly. Now it kinda makes sense. Unfortunate, but maybe some day it'll regain its former glory. The future board mods may overturn this decision as well, or are the OG BFBB board mods always going to be the Rehydrated mods?
Why not just have a 60 and Uncapped sub categories. You please both sides. Also with the 60fps cap there are cool tricks that are never allowed to be used in an official catagory. Which really sucks cause I'd asume some of those tricks are really cool (plus playing at 120 fps on 120hrtz monitor is SOOOO good and literally game changing and it sucks people who want that aren't allowed. Makes it less enjoyable)
