No, he wasn't over-rated. He was an excellent actor and had a fresh and happy looking face for most of his life. Not a bad singer at all, either! Had a huge crush on him when I was in school. RIP, Johnny. You added a lot to our lives.
He wasn't overrated. But because he didn't make the normal common Hollywood Personality. As we all know that intales. The more clean straight image wasn't what Hollywood found valuable.
I'm 70 now and I loved The Rifleman growing up and never missed a show. Johnny Crawford was a natural in front of the camera, an All-American kid who was so warm and likeable, and his relationship with Chuck Connors was so endearing. That show was a big part of my childhood. RIP Johnny. We Baby Boomers will never forget you.
There are no words that can describe this amazing man. I still watch the reruns of rifleman to this day. One of the best Father & Son teams that ever performed on television. Johnny was certainly a talented actor and musician. I watched all the Rifleman episodes and enjoyed them, He definitely added much to our culture and role model for son/father relationships. RIP Johnny
The show was good, they could have made a whole tv series western for him later, which would have been successful, but obviously didn't happen,Child stars then didn't have the opportunity that have now.
Johnny Crawford was not a child actor, he was simply an actor. I loved the father/son relationship between Mark and Lucas McCain in The Rifleman. Rest in peace and health Johnny.
Both Chuck and Johnny were in an episode or two of "Paradise" ( starring Lee Horsely) again as a father and son team. Great to see them again years later after Rifelman.
Over the years I've watched The Rifleman so many times I know what they're going to say before they say it in every episode. What a full life Johnny led. I'm so proud of you my friend. Rest in peace!
Johnny Crawford provided all of us kids back in the day a lot of good wholesome entertainment and I appreciate him for his life's work and I'm sorry to see him go.May you rest in peace Johnny
In my teens I was madly in love with Johnny Crawford. The Rifleman was my favorite show because Johnny was in it. I bought every album he ever made and played them over and over again. When the Rodeo came to Toronto Canada I was there in the front row. I still have my scrapbook with all his magazine and newspaper pictures and articles.. Thank you for this great you tube clip.
I had a huge crush on him too. So much that I joined his fan club in those early years. I got some pictures and his autograph in the mail. What a thrill in those days. thanks for sharing
I loved watching him in reruns in The Rifleman- he was a very good actor and him and Chuck Connors symbolized a true father/son and their dynamic was so believable! Talented from acting, singing and genuinely being a nice guy! May he Rest In Peace now.. bless u
It is sad to hear about Johnny's passing. I grew up watching the Rifleman. I miss shows like that. There was always a moral to the story. They taught children morality, and right from wrong. Farewell Johnny (Mark) you, and Chuck (Lucas) brought some Sunshine in lives of many. Rest in Peace Buckaroo. We loved you.
Johnny Crawford is an American icon. Loved to watch the interaction between he and Chuck Connors as father and son. Not enough (or any) shows today showing how it should be. God Bless.
Met Johnny many years ago at a luncheon and was able to get a seat next to him. He spoke about his relationship with Chuck Connors and was the perfect gentleman. RIP Johnny
Johnny was a true icon with tremendous like ability and poise. I still watch The Rifleman on MeTV. It’s a great show. Also own many of his records on DelFi. Class act all the way.
Johnny was awesome!! Watched him all my life still do. The Rifleman on the top of my list of all-time favorites Johnny along with his chemistry with Chuck Connors was responsible for that. But I must admit I think the writing and the whole show was Top Notch
I Totally AGREE! I still watch the Rifleman everyday! Such wonderful lessons could be learned from this show. The actors were top-notched and so believable as father and son! I still cry on some of the episodes. The love they had for each other was genuine! Nothing on TV today compares to this show! ❤❤
The rifleman was one of my favorite westerns. Johnny was a good actor for someone so young and having to portray difficult roles that required much emotion. Thank you johnny and peace and comfort for his family.
I have watched Chuck and Johnny's show my entire life. I still watch it most days. It feels like Chuck and Johnny are part of my family. God bless both of them for all the great memories!!
I'm 72 years old and remember well watching the Rifleman on TV. I think he did a great job there, loved the show. I probably missed all his other movies, but I do remember hearing Cindy's Birthday, the song he sang, and I remember thinking at the time, "boy, this guy's a real heart throb to the girls". I'm truly sorry about the way he died, but it seems he had a good career all around. Marc T.
I enjoyed him in the rifleman with Chuck Conners. Allzimers is a terrible disease . I had a family member along with Parkinsons. It was very painful to watch this person whom I loved so much.
Johnny Crawford is NOT DEAD. He lives in Santa Ynez, in Santa Ynez Valley, just 160 miles North of Los Angeles on the Coastal area of Southern California. He appears in various Parades, and is well into His 80's.

So thankful for all of the life lessons that "Mark and Pa" instilled. Although they weren't the script writers, they were the instruments that conveyed a righteous expression of how people should be!
It sounds like you're insinuating Crawford was gay. I sure don't know how you could come up with that. You're the only one I ever heard that believes that. But the way things are today, you just never know and you may be right.
Johnny Crawford was a amazing actor. As a child he was so good that I really thought that Chuck Conners was his real dad. He was wonderful and he will be missed, I will miss him. RIH !!
I played beach volleyball with Johnny, and the rest of my friends, down at Playa del Rey in the late 70's and early 80's. He must have lived there at the beach, as he would just show up. Great guy, humble, and a true sportsman.
Johnny Crawford was a wonderful human being, a great child actor as well as adult actor. A wonderful interactive with Chuck Connors on the Rifleman Series. I learned a lot of life lessons about how to treat other people who needed help in one way or another from the Rifleman Series. Sam Peckinpah and the entire list of writers were fantastic over the period of the Rifleman Series!
Johnny will always be remembered as the most famous child star on TV. He will always be remembered and now he is back with his TV dad Chuck Connors. Bless his heart. 🙏 EP.86
Just saw the news about Johnny's passing. Playing "Cindy's Birthday" and some of his other songs in memory. "The Rifleman" was one of my favorites as an adolescent. Condolences and loving thoughts to his wife, who obviously loved him dearly to the end.
Sorry to learn of Johnny’s passing. I loved him and had a crush on him as a young girl. I feel he was a great actor with a passion for his craft. I am thankful I grew up in the era of Western’s. I watched the Rifleman faithfully every week just to see Johnny. Always loved and remembered. R.I.P. Johnny. You will always be a star.
Johnny in my opinion was the best child actor ever. However I don't know how much of his Mark McCain role was acting since I think that he was just as wholesome in real life. He was so natural. Such a class act. In fact the huge majority of Hollywood would be smart to immulate him. His kind of style is what's missing in entertainment these days. R.I.P. Johnny
Johnny Crawford was a fantastic actor!! His shows & movies were well loved by me & my husband! We were so very sorry to hear about the loss of his life! We feel very sorry for his wife and family! Thank you for reading my comment, NORMA COLLINS
Johnny Crawford was like the Anti Justin Bieber. Unlike the Biebs, Johnny Crawford actually was full of talent. And watching him in interviews over the past few years when he was not in cognitive decline, he seemed like a humble and quiet guy. The world could use more people like him in the world.

I think he was a great actor, and I still watch "The Riffleman" today, and wait to see Johnny which isn't long. If I had to compare such acting duets I'd have to say that Luke and Mark remind me of Ben and Jake Sisko on DS9. You can feel the the passion in both families and know they are close as fathers and sons.
I feel I have lost a close friend. I never think of other people getting older, just myself, so when I see them, I am shocked at how they have aged. Johnny Crawford was such a handsome guy. Everybody loved him. I am so sorry for those people that loved him. I know he made a great contribution to life just being himself. So sorry.

I loved Johnny Crawford as an actor and a person. He and Chuck Conners always had a beautiful message at the end of each program. They both are dearly missed.
Fortunately, he was able to enjoy an ordinary, full life, one without the negativities that usually follow fame and stardom. I'm about the same age and I grew up in a time when TV shows, such as The Rifleman were the ones watched by families all over. Rest in peace Mr Crawford.

My Grandkids call me Pa. I may be wrong but I think that's how you spell it. Not saying the other way is wrong. But Paw is like the Paw of a dog. And if I'm not wrong it's Pa like Grand-pa. Please correct me if I'm wrong .either way I guess is right. When my Grandkids call me Pa it's just a feeling that comes over me. I can't explain the closeness I have with my little blessings. They ask me why I wanted to be called Pa. So I told them the truth. And the truth is when ""Mark"" called Lucas Pa you could feel the love they had for each other. Even though it was a show I really believe that they loved each other in their personal life. They stayed in touch with each other until we lost Chuck Connors "" Lucas "" in I think 1992. May both great actors RIP together.

The ride from Ava Johnny Crawford was a wonderful movie Check Connor was a great guy also God-bless
Yes he was
No, he wasn't over-rated.
I used to like to see him perform in The Rifleman and also sing he was a good singer
Such a Cutie too ! That great smile he had !💕

Mark really got into his role he actually made you feel like they were really father and son he loved his tv dad.I hope you went peacefully and that you’re now resting in peace.Thank you for sharing your talent with the world. Good Journey
Johnny Crawford!
Thanks for watching, Shoe Love!
Well said! One of my all time favorite shows. My son and I always joke we’re like Lucas and Mark, only we’re a son and mom team in Texas. I loved watching him branch out to other shows and movies. Great smile, great man. I currently have all the episodes on my DVR.
Another one of the Greats gone..
Rest in peace Mr Crawford.
He left a legacy and I grew up watching him and even today his performance on The Rifleman is memorable and he was an excellent actor. I had no idea he had continued acting after the show. I often wondered what happened to him. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. He’s a legend.
Beautiful words, thank you for your message for Johnny. He is definitely a superb actor who is missed 🙏
A nice guy and gone too soon!
I'm heartbroken to hear that Johnny Crawford passed away, good Actor, good man, also thanks to Actor Paul Peterson for helping other actors. RIP,J.M.

I missed Johnny Crawford who was a talented young man in the "Rifleman" which showed the strong connection between father and son. I'm sorry to hear he lost his battle with his health. RIP Johnny - we'll miss you.
Hats off to Johnny , a great actor. Especially as Mark on the Rifleman.
RIP. Johnny God got another Angel when he got you. YOU WILL BE MISSED
Johnny was certainly a talented actor and musician. I watched all the Rifleman episodes and enjoyed them, He definitely added much to our culture and role model for son/father relationships. RIP Johnny
Rifleman was one of my favorite shows as a child, Rest in Peace Mr. Crawford🌷
We agree, Lisa!
I love the way you put that. He wasn't just a flash in the pan, but continued to act throughout his life.

Memories of great days of sitting in front of the TV eating our breakfast. Now that I am in my 70s I can still do that if I want too!!!!!!!!

You are right. Morals have gone out the window for Hollywood. The Rifleman is a breathe of fresh air among what is out there today.
Johnny Crawford as well as Chuck Connors will ALWAYS be with us as long we have these fond memories to look back on RIP Johnny🎸

One of the best child actors I've ever seen. He was so convincing in some of his roles he often over shadowed the other actors.
We definitely agree. Johnny Crawford had real talent. 🙏
Marc T.

So thankful for all of the life lessons that "Mark and Pa" instilled. Although they weren't the script writers, they were the instruments that conveyed a righteous expression of how people should be!

R.I.P. Johnny

He had the kind of class that doesn't seem to exist in young people any longer! Johnny and I were born in the same year.
I look at TV families, today, & it’s no wonder families are a mess with those as role models!
@@e.g.hammond7190 I agree at least Johny Crawford could sing about Cindy's birthday n long noses but I never had to get annoyed/irritated to have to tolerate listening to him saying"baby baby baby over n over again in his songs lyrics like Justin Bieber's n ok talent babble! Lol

I think he was a great actor, and I still watch "The Riffleman" today, and wait to see Johnny which isn't long. I loved his looks and that great smile! My favorite lines were when he was talking to Lucas and called him, "Paw."
