4:40 Haha, that's exactly what happened to me, and at the same location. After the tandem flight I decided I had to learn this. And so I did! This was 12 years ago and I went back to Interlaken with my own wing many times since, it's a bit like pilgrimage. There are _lots_ of places to fly from over there.
OMG, u did it! Where did u take ur lesson? Have you ever felt unsafe flying solo? I am thinking about learning in Pattaya
@@couchtourists4289 That was in California (the SF Bay Area). At first I didn't feel quite in control (which is normal) and turbulence was unnerving. But then I took the SIV clinic (many videos show it on YT) which is IMHO _absolutely necessary_ to take at some point. It's typically a 1-2-day class in which you fly over a body of water (for safety) and perform various simulated wing collapses, stalls, practice how to untangle the wingtips in flight, etc. You acquire a completely different relationship to your wing after the SIV and turbulence becomes merely annoying 🙂Only recently I got a 360 camera so I don't have too many videos on YT because when I fly I turn my head around a lot which makes the helmet-mounted videos unwatchable!! This one is tolerable, I flew from First (Grindelwald) to the usual Höhematte park in Interlaken and I remember that after the landing I was thinking that I got there without having to pay for the train ticket! @@JanPBtest wow that’s quite a distance from First to Interlaken. I will take lesson in Pattaya Thailand. Hopefully it’s over the ocean most of the time 😂 Thanks for sharing!
@@couchtourists4289 Sounds like you have a plan! There was one time during my lessons where I needed to fly for the first time from a hill of some height (100 m). I was feeling really iffy but some time later my partner filmed a little finch getting ready to fly out of its nest for the very first time (from a little birdhouse on our balcony) and this bird's obvious hesitation made me feel much better 🙂ruclips.net/video/xLeCIRWwY1M/видео.html And then the little finch landed on a tree branch that was not very strong for its weight: the bird didn't know it (yet!) So practice makes perfect!
@@JanPBtest As far as I know, paragliding is quite safe. Hopeful I will keep it that way 😂. Definitely I won’t try any upside down maneuver though. Thanks for the inspiration!
