Complement to the writer, he/she has invented the coolest and the dumbest defence tactic in any war fare.
On the other hand it can be a good way to clear those pile ups they use to climb the wall and they can attack more consistently than boiling oil, also less costly than having to import gallons of the stuff. I'm just rationalizing. It is pretty stupid but these are just some reasons it could be seen as feasible wall defence against this particular enemy.

I still cant get over the fact that the spearwall lines of formation on top of that wall are only 2 people thick - 2 people! In my strategy games I ALWAYS keep my lines 4 soliders thick - incase some die they can fill the ranks and swarm with numbers - and this is Ancient China I know they had enough numbers.
I have not seen the movie but it looks to me like this 'defense tactic' was created to give the girls a reason to believe they can fight better than a man can. Sex roles in movies are a joke anyway. If the roles were reversed - and a girl was surrounded by a dozen 'giggling' men all watching her take some kind of test you know the film makers, instead of showing her to chicken out, would have her pull some kind of jumping, twisting, triple back-flip maneuver that would have knocked ten men twice her size on their butts with a shout of - GIRL POWER!
they'd be better off lobbing big rocks and spears over the walls for sure!

it'll be a more believable tactic IF the monsters are vulnerable and slow when climbing the wall.
AND the bungie cord is a little shorter so the divers only need to attack the slow and vulnerable climbing monster HALF way up the wall.
This would mean they won't get swarmed as easily and it is a necessary risk to prevent the monsters from reaching the top.
You know you can design a the wall in crescent shape to the outside I don't see how that can be climbed because it's obviously high enough with that arch or curve they won't be able to climb upwards, also you can decorate all kind of obstacles and traps on the wall to make it harder for them
Still not as good as throwing rocks or boiling oil down the wall, and much less risky.
Or just put more death squad blades

Jack Kristensen Well, when your catapult balls fail to stop them, and they're climbing up the wall, it's either meet them when they get over the wall or go outside and get them any way you can. Dropping buckets of hot oil probably wouldn't have stopped all these things...
@@georgehenderson7783 exactly, they should just stand on top of the wall and attack the moment these creatures are about to reach the edge so they are still climbing and are vulnerable. I mean this would be the point of an wall so the enemy has to spend more energy to reach you, they should use their advantage.
I know its just a movie and those jump-troops only were for aesthetics thought.

Actually, those are just bits and pieces of weapons and armor. When the Tao Tei withdrew, the drones took all the dead bodies - both human and their own - with them to feed to their queen.

Honestly the crane Corp just seems like a way to dispose of people instead of a way to cull the Tao Tei, like the Chinese are shown to have literal explosives that they could just drop or toss off the side but instead they choose to send human kamikaze fighters.

It's incredible how many problems a smoothbore Rheinmetall 120mm gun could have solved in this movie
Why do you need a tank gun? Its very inefficient against tergets with no armor. minigun and automatic granade launcher will do much better job and a lot cheaper.
