  • Is there a better way to spend a couple of thousand on a boat? We think not. The question is, which Fletcher to go for? Read the full review in the August issue of MBM, out Thursday 17 July 2014.

I have a small speedboat in Greece built by a Greek firm (Doukas) which is based almost exactly on the Fletcher arrow, but it is smaller than any of these (3.92m to be precise) with a 40hp 4 stroke Mercury. IIts size makes it easy to launch and take out of the water single handed, and it's great fun... except I have to get up at the crack of dawn when the water is like a mirror. As soon as the wind gets up towards lunchtime, forget it; it has the deep V hull but those bigger waves, not to mention the wake of the ferry boats and commercial cruise boats, are pretty intimidating for a boat that size. So, what does anyone think would be the next step up in the Fletcher range that could deal with choppier afternoon waters to be found around the Greek islands? 3.93m is just under 13' so would the Arrowflyte 14.0 with a 60hp motor make the necessary difference or do I need to be looking closer to 20' and 100 hp?

This man shouldn't be allowed to review boats if he is so wildly out with valuations either that or he's dreaming

since he did that review they have gone up in price.you cant find a decent fletcher now.mine was a 1980 with 2x70 evinrudes with a cuddy cabin which was an 18 footer.it actually did 45 knots back in the day.very rare.it was bespoke for a steel hull 160 foot super yacht made in england based in istanbul at the time.he had 2 of these babies in exactly the same speck.i spent 4 seasons on this yacht back in the day.had a choice of the two.still cant find that speck boat today.cause it was bespoke and was made for a billionaire in the eighties.im sure they still around but people wont part with them.take care
