Thanks for all the compliments, Chris. I am in your debt. I don't think you could have described both plates of the razor any better. I don't think anyone who watches either video should be confused about what to expect from the razor.
Thanks Rod, I appreciate it. I think this razor was marketed appropriately. It's for folks who appreciate a more efficient/aggressive razor. If you like high efficiency and blade feel, it might well be a winner for you. If you're averse to blade feel and efficiency, walk away:)
@@IAMCDB yeah I emailed Rob about it and he said the price of the fragrance oil went up so much it wasn’t viable anymore. But it is a great scent!! Master soap commander makes a good dupe of “old” old spice too.
Morning Chris. Excellent shave today. I’ve been wet shaving now for over a year after coming back. I started out with only mild razors like post war Gillette Techs. Now I am upping my game to the higher side of mild. I’ve gone to SE razors like the Razorock SS Hawk and found I can get a good shave with them. Don’t you just love the Stirling soaps, can’t say enough about them. Again enjoy your day and God bless.
Executive Man was my first artisanal soap I bought when I started wet shaving 3 years ago. I have since bought five more shave soaps and aftershaves. Their bar soaps and shampoo bars are all I use in the shower. I even started using their charcoal facial soap and I have zero interest in using anything else in the shower. Stirling is a top notch company that have top notch products.
Trying my Electric Sheep sample today. I'm having GREAT success with their regular tallow, and I hear the sheep tallow is even better. Stirling is the best. I always get the cushiest slickest shave. Haven't used anything else since trying. Doesn't leave you dry either, like I find with TOBS and others.
Great shave today Chris! That’s a mighty fine looking razor and that classic Shulton Old Spice scent is a a great scent indeed! Have a great day my friend!
Funny how this razor put things into perspective. Used the HA plate for a week and now used the Ikon Shavecraft Teck and boy did I not find it as blade aggresive as before. Lets now use the R41 and Merkur Futur to see of my sensations have changed as well
The ease of use factor is why I always enjoy Tabac, Palmolive stick, and Arko stick. Of those three, Palmolive has the best scent. Tabac is okay, definitely a classic. Arko is difficult to like until the scent dissipates -- I added some Stetson and that helps.
Stirling Spice is the only Old Spice Scented Soap I have in my den. I finally exhausted my Barrister’s Reserve Spice so I thought I would try something else. Hard to go wrong with Stirling.
Great great shave Chris, again totally agree with you about Stirling. I love the soaps and aftershave splashes but the balms are absolutely phenomenal. Also like it that alot of there products are available in the Netherlands. Enjoy your day
Great shave as always Chris. I will have to get some of that soap. Have to say the razor looks interesting as well. I have only just started using a DE, my driver for the last few years has been the Japanese style Artist club with the professional blades.
Thanks Gordon. The DE's will certainly take some getting used to. That said, if you have shaved a lot with an open blade you can probably use about anything:)
Killer shave Chris. Nice review of the razor and comments on Stirling. They offer some great products. Great video, gonna watch the other video of the hyper plate right now
Want your opinion for 159 would you rather have the Stirling ss or would you say spend 30 more and get a scratch and dent carbon? Just curious. Thanks 🙏 stay safe.
If you want high aggression and efficiency, go Stirling. If you want smooth, easy going, and effective, go carbon. They are two very different type of razors.
Very nice! I was waiting for you to use this plate. My question is, I do have a merkur futur, based on that which setting would you equate this to from 1-6?
@@IAMCDB i didn't realize you prefer the higher settings! Wow, thats a bit too much for me! And I prefer blade feel! As you said what works for you may not work for me
Does anyone know if the Razor is still being produced? I went to the Stirling site hoping to see a milder base plate option and couldn’t find the Stirling Stainless razor on the site.
Hello Hello my friend.. This video got me this idea (rather a video suggestion).. How about a video discussing aggressive options; i.e. acceptable (ex. Yaqi beast) / non acceptable (ex. Yaqi helmet).. Alternatives (ex. Cadet as an alternative 2 r41).. Overlooked options (ikon standard, slants usually they r not viewed from an aggressive perspective).. etc.. Really every aggressive razors' lover would appreciate it
The way Rod described this razor (maybe on Lather Talk?), it was a razor for someone who just wants to be done with shaving. I don’t know who that’s supposed to appeal to in this hobby, and what market exists outside of the hobby. Seems like a missed opportunity, given what appears to be a high quality product.
I don't think it's a missed opportunity at all. This razor will appeal to folks who are looking for more efficiency. Perhaps it's not a crowd please but there's certainly a place for it.
It's such a bonus that the razor is produced here in the USA.
I agree Patrick, it's nice.

Stirling is always going above and beyond in quality for what you spend, and this razor is a beautiful example of that.
I agree RK. You always get good bang for your buck with Stirling.
I finally watched your chat with the wonderful folks from Shannon's today. What lovely salt of the earth people they are up there in south Canada!
Thanks Lee, I appreciate it sir. They are great folks for sure.
One of my top three scents of all time. So sad that is discontinued. Hope they bring it back!!
They tend to bring them back every once in a while, hopefully they will.

That case sure is beautiful. Hats off to Rod and Mandy!
Thanks Lee, it really is.
The aggressiveness/efficiency of that razor seems right up my ally. I just acquired a 2011 R41 though. Hopefully Rod continues to produce this beauty.
This razor brings it for sure. It's definitely on the efficient side:)
i see that Mühle have the R41 now in stainless steel. nice video !!

Hey Chris.
Can you tell me if any plate Karve compare in efficiency and aggressiveness of this Stirling ST?
I would say the Stirling ST plate is more like a Karve on an upper plate setting. Say at least D or E. It's just a guess though:)
Cool video
Thank you sir!
I want to know what’s blade gap on standard plate by sterling de ss razor ?? it’s shave very efficiently and awesome shave Chris
They don't publish what the gap is as they feel people focus too much on that aspect. It's efficient though, that I can tell you.

I'm hoping Stirlings EDT's are as good as their soaps cause I have ordered a bunch of them, along with some samples.

Very nice! I was waiting for you to use this plate. My question is, I do have a merkur futur, based on that which setting would you equate this to from 1-6?
