Thank you for the video my son has a 1995 BMW 525I Series we need to change the radiator on it as well, question did you need to change the outlet hose? You should keep it wish I could send you a picture of my sons car it is awesome
In my opinion the main cause was air in the cooling system. People does not know that there is an air drain plug at the radiator. They fill the expansion tank that is at the side of the radiator, but they never drain the air. After years , this causes air pockets at the engine head wich can create overheating problems.
My mother's car had the same issue, at the end, it took 3 liters of coolant to repkace all the air in the system (this car takes around 10 liters). Anyway, it is a good thing to change thermostat, water pump and the coolant.
Beware of between the upper hose radiator connection, it tends to crack or totally break (it happened to my mother's car, luckily, there was enough material to reconnect the upper hose). You can cut a couple of centimeters an reattach the hose, it is less likely to break in that way .
Where is the air drain plug?
@@LyricalInjectionRec at one inch from the filler cap, a plastic bolt, with crossed head, you can use a small coin to unscrew it
The chop top is a no go, sir! However, the turbo build would make more sense! M50 likes boost because iron block. These E34's are amazing cars. Great work and content man.
I thought you could not put a turbo on this car, my son wanted to do that but instead is going to straight pipe it.
@@selygarcia5622 it’s not that you can’t it’s just a n/a car to begin with so it takes more work than it would a factory turbo car, that and since It tends to make the a car run hotter cooling needs to be added usually
Just scored a 1995 with the m50b25tu for $500 . They couldn’t get it to turn on or stay on it also had an intermittent overheating issue . They also said the oil may of started to mix but once I got it figured that they didn’t have a nut on the intake so it wasn’t letting it start , fixed that . Confirmed the oil wasn’t mixing just the oil cap was letting in moisture plus valve cover . And overheating was due to aux fan not working . Got it all sorted and no issues . 😊
Thanks for saving old school Bimmers! Restore this car. I just put together friend's e34 and will be posting a video soon
I didn't watch the entire video, it was getting a little talkey. I have had a 535i for a long time. Don't you bleed the system? There is a small nut on the forward part of the cylinder head. Also there is a funny heater hose that wears out at the small end
Where have all the e34 s dissapeared to I never see them on the road anymore
@@stevenvilardi8626 a lot of people don’t deserve to own these cars...!! You don’t see them on the road because people throw them away!!.... super sad
Great vid! I just bought a 1994 525i here in Ireland. It needs a new rad new hoses too so you have helped me out with that man
whats the name of the kit he bought?
Damnnnnnn what a lucky. you got only $500? in here in Bali the price of this BMW around $4.500 . Nice Video bro
Same price in Kazakhstan 4500 is minimum here some people are even asking 15000 dollars for a mint condition car
Mine has 375k on it. I need some interior parts which happen to be the same color.... let me know if you ever want to part it out if you still have it.
Please tell me, where Temperature sensor on BMW 525i E34 M50 is allocated?
So I got this 95 5 series BMW.automatic . I would never buy a bmw but here i am trying to fix one..
It randomly started smoking/steaming from inside the car like coming from the top of the dash and all up the winshield. I've blown up my fair share of cars and had almost every problem you can have with a car but I have never seen steam come from the the top of the dash up the inside of the winshield. And its within 12 mins of having it running and it will slowly creep up in the max overheat zone. Oil looks clean. Coolant looks fine. No choclate milk looking crap . I haven't let it run for more than a couple minutes once the gauge starts reading all the way hot.there is a lack of power ive noticed since day one though.
Oh and theres no steam or smoke coming from engine bay hardly. Ive heard that the valve cover is a common issue for this.?
Sorry if I was all over the place there. I really appreciate any help and or suggestions . thanks!
going thru samething just changed the thermostat
SEMA with a convertible 4 door beamer
My beloved E34 530i v8 that I stupidly let my son use when his car died is overheating bad, anyone know what forums I can hit for help?
Restore it and maybe give it some extra juice, but please dont cut the roof of this future classic. BMW doesn't make cars like this anymore.
Great Job!
RESTORE the car to MINT. They are BRILLIANT CARS, VERY COLLECTABLE.
Even More With Manual Box & Leather.
IT will be the Very Best car you will ever own. Unless you are a Millionaire.
Give it a little low, some wheels, and cruise that beyotch
Basically the blueprint 😁🤙🏽
I took my fan off with an adjustable wrench and a hammer. 😂
m50 one of the best engines ever made, reliable as fuck, it's one and onyl weaknes is the oil pump nut, fix that and it lasts forever!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Re. four door convertible. Please sell the car.
