- Dear everyone,
Welcome to another one of our Patreon tutorials! Today, we dive into the techniques of underpainting, wet blending, and overlapping layers by painting a Games Workshop Seraphon miniature. In this video, I'll guide you step-by-step to achieve a vibrant and dynamic look for your Seraphon model.
In this tutorial, I will cover:
Underpainting Techniques: We'll start by laying a strong foundation with underpainting. You'll learn how to create depth and contrast right from the base layers, setting the stage for the colors to come.
Wet Blending: Discover the secrets of wet blending to create smooth transitions and natural gradients. I will show you how to blend colors directly on the miniature.
Overlapping Layers: Building on our underpainting and wet blending, I'll proceed with overlapping layers to enhance midtones and highlights. This technique will bring out the unique textures and features of the Seraphon mini, making it stand out on the tabletop.
Color Choices: Throughout the tutorial, we'll discuss our color choices. Learn how to choose and combine colors to achieve the desired effect and harmony in your miniature.
Contrast, Color Values, and Volumes: Learn to create contrast and volumes using dark and light values, color values, and tonal variations.
Practical Tips and Tricks: Along the way, I will share practical tips and tricks to help you refine your painting skills and overcome common challenges.
The paint range I used here wasn't released in the end, as far as we could learn. However, we did write the equivalent of paints in the Scale 75 Artist Range, which both Aleksandra and I use most commonly. I'm sure you can find equivalents for the brands of paints you are most familiar with. Use the paints that you like, whether they are the same, similar, or totally different tones. Share your results with us-we look forward to seeing them!
P.S. Are you excited for PART TWO: Non-Metallic Metal? Let us know in the comments!

Sounds like Placebo, is that Placebo?
Is this video pre recorded? I'm asking since he is using broken anvil paints after all the controversy and lies. I thought the paint was kaput
Hi there!
Just to clarify, the video isn't specifically focused on paints. We mentioned in the description that it's from last year and that those paints never became available. 😊 It's just the two of us sharing some lessons from our Patreon. We're trying to keep our channel active and hope to record more for RUclips in the future. We're two artists passionate about our craft, with our main goal art in miniatures and our second goal to inspire creativity in others. P.S. We personally read and reply to all the messages. Thanks for your support! Aleksandra and Marko
@CraftworldStudio I was just curious that all!
I personally love these videos, and I look forward to more.
Wether the video is pre recorded or not doesn't matter. I just noticed the mentioned of the broken anvil paints.
Thank you for the response !
