Thank y'all so much for watching and commenting! I love it. Please ask anything about this car you want. Please don't anyone think that I have this kind of talent. So many people have helped me build this beautiful car. So much credit belongs to the original owner who completed approximately 80% of the car before I purchased her. Thank you! Nick

Just a Great looking classic car, just love that look. Couldn’t get enough of the original coupe in the movie, went to see that movie 5 times in the first two weeks of it coming out in the theaters. I also own a 32, a three window my dad had built, also I have a 30 pontiac 3 window that i’d like to build with the same look of your car Like I said, can’t get enough of that hotrod vibe.

Only problem, and it's well known, is that both cars weren't completely period correct. You also didn't have Summit Racing in 1962 either. The pathway to speed was a lot of trial and error.
The only smallblock available in and before 1962 was the 283. But what if Milner, through the "I know a guy who knows this guy" process accidentally builds up a 302 Z28 motor?
The stories I have read tell me that the 55 has a 454 and can run 10s. But if it was period correct it might run a massaged 348 or if the builder didn't care about brand loyalty a junkyard 392 Hemi might be under the hood.
The scene where Toad gooses the 58 and Falfa replies tells the story...us old gearheads know instantly that there's a really BIG motor in that car!
Beautiful build, love to see video this summer on cruise night.

@@spaceflight1019 The duece coupe had a corvette fuel injected 327. Falfa's 55 had a 454. Both cars were linked to Muncie rock crusher 4 speeds. Torque and HP to the 55, but the 32 was much lighter and no doubt faster to the 60'. Rumor was that the Chevy was actually faster but I have no dependable source on that. The scene at the stop light. The "field car" scene for some. When they left the light together it triggered the car crazy in me. Remember the two front ends side by side with both pulling hard? That was it...

@@cureforsale The movie car was painted with lacquer, and it wasn't polished, so it was very dull. All the main cars in that movie were. I was told that's because when filming highly polished cars look dull, but unpolished ones look shiny. Has to do with the lighting is what I was told. It had pretty much nothing done to the interior. The seats were very old. I don't think there was even any carpets in the car, or even a headliner. I was told the chopped top was done by the movie studios in Hollywood, and they did do a nice job on that. They told us they would sell us the car and we agreed to buy it, but then the movie became a huge hit and they decided to keep the car and use it for promotions. We took the car to a McDonald's because they wanted to use it in a commercial, and that was the last ride we took in it.

That thing needs a lot more camshaft!!!! My uncle built a clone as well but his body was actually a 31 so it has the viser over the windshield an he ditched the fenders with actual front runners and 15” wide sportman pros outback with a 427 BBC with tunnel ram an dual 650 carbs. The thing is insane. I’ve watched his son who is bout the only one insane enough to really let the thing eat and took a guy for a ride who kept saying its basically like how this one is in the video all show and not any real go. He pulled out onto Joy Rd not to far from Woodward ave and its a 5 lane road 2 east bound lanes,2 west bound lanes and a center turning lane and turned that thing loose an literally skated from curb to curb using all 5 lanes to keep it under somewhat control. Needless to say when they pulled back into the doughnut shop an the guy got his knees where actually chartering together and never said the car is just a show car. I mean its 2100 pound car and its a iron block and head so 80% of that weight is drivetrain and the motor hasn’t ever been dynoed but its safe to say its around the 600 horsepower range and no doubt just bout the same in the torque department,so when take into count the weight to HP is insane and its just ridiculous but hands down out of all my uncles cars as well as my fathers 64 Chevy II,it’s easily my favorite as its just fun to see let alone ride in and even though its nature is very manageable to cruise.

RC drag racing is a growing trend and I'd really like to get in on it. Not that I wouldn't like to have a real '32 5 window but, I just don't see me ever having a budget for that. The movie’s time frame was late summer of 62 . GM cars in 63 line up had alternators so the fall of 62. I know Plymouth had alternators starting on some 1960 models also Studebaker on taxis and police cars in 60 , so they were out there in the early 60’s

@@joebarber4030 Yes it was technically within the time frame. Often in hotrodding history it has taken a few years for new developments to be adopted by the hotrod community. Therefore, most people believe that alternators didn't show up on the average guys hotrod until a couple years later when they were more commonly accepted and available as replacement parts.
