- Prague's winter weather is rough. Most travelers come unprepared for it. In this video, Valery will show you that what in your country might be a mild winter day temperature-wise, in Prague can be a very, very cold day.
Unless you come prepared! And who else can give you better advice than someone who stays outside the whole day - Prague tour guide. #prague #winter #winterclothing #realpragueguides

1 If you wear thick socks, make sure your boots are not tight. It is dead air that keeps you warm. Compressed material is not warm. And, if it is too tight, you lose circulation. Blood circulation is what brings warmth to your feet.
2. You need layers. You may dress warmly for standing, but once you walk for a while, you may get hot. Never allow yourself to sweat in the cold. Your sweat makes it difficult to retain heat. If you stop for a while, you will get very cold very fast.
3. Use the big fat guy on the tour as a wind break. 😋
Totally agree 👍
Best city in Europe just beautiful
Valerie I do hope the Czech tourist industry and government give you and your company some accolades or presentation as you are brilliant🇬🇧👍
Yes! She is a very funny and nice!
She´s Russian.
@@Calucifer13 and your point is🤔
@@Calucifer13 I know she is🤷♂️
This video helped us A LOT! Coming from the warm country like the Philippines🇵🇭
This was very informative, helpful and fun to watch. Thank you! 🙂
Thank you valery
Love your videos, absolutely brilliant. keep up the good work
This is very good, excellent advice. 👍👍👍
This is soo true and helpful. Went 4 years ago in November and was not prepared for how cold it was.
Thank you for this video, I needed this so bad cause I’m visiting Prague soon and this tips is so helpful.
3:37 You always look cute - no matter what jacket you wear.
Thank you for this video I’m so grateful that I watched before my trip to Prague it’s in the end of December. I should dress a lot of layers especially because I live in a village that is very hot and winter here isn’t so cold so I’m not used to cold weather at all😮
Very wise woman ! Double socks, a must and my favorite :)
It's over 30 degrees year round where I live, I miss the cold
Thank you for your enjoyable presentations, coming this December from Hawaii, yes we will be freezing🏝
Thanks for the info… fills like home..i’am Canadian… and what she says it’s true.. dress warm..🤙👍🤗😉
Had to laugh about the snow. I was in Prague yesterday. Whole Tábor is under snow, the whole countryside on the way is under snow but once you get to Prague, nothing. And the few snowflakes that were falling changed quickly in to the water on the ground. Btw. take really warm clothes if you go to Loreta, was there yesterday for an hour and got pretty frozen.
Prag ist auch im Winter faszinierend!
for me then! I will come in the summer! 🔆
Awesome vid!
Alright!, thanks for your winter tourist information.
💌, likewise, I'm sure.
First of all, I completely agree with Paul Todd👇👇👇!!! You guys are the CATS MEOW in this business!!! Anyway, your weather is just like Michigan, USA. In your intro, I noticed a STARBUCKS behind you. I would much rather visit one of your sidewalk coffee shops. I was surprised to hear you don't get much snow? Your city is beautiful with snow too!!! GREAT VIDEO, MORE PLEASE🙏👌👍
Hello, I just found your videos. I do not subscribe to many, but yours is very entertaining and you get right to the point and you have a nice personality. I’m looking forward to visiting Prague and enjoying the beauty of your country and everything it has to offer. I am a big beer lover and I’m looking forward to trying all the different local beers across Prague and the Czech Republic. My sister and brother-in-law were there last year and they just loved it and told me that it’s right up my alley. Those coffee shops and cafés look wonderful. I would never visit a Starbucks, especially in a different country. Not my kind of place. I do everything local and support all the local businesses. Winter is my favorite time of year so I will be there when it’s nice and cold. I am very glad I found your videos. Good stuff and the food looks wonderful. I will try everything that’s for sure. Once again, I really enjoy your videos . Take care.👍❄️
Sock liners and good wool socks plus a warm hat. If you can keep you feet and head warm, you have won half the battle. When I was looking at the astronomical clock there was a booth roasting meat in the square. It smelled fantastic and I was hungry, but I was so cold I ate at an indoor restaurant to warm up. The struggle is real. Thanks for another great video.
Hi we is heading to Prague in 2 weeks to spend Christmas there we is bringing our 1 year old daughter for her 1st winter holiday 😀 looking forward to seeing this beautiful city 😊
thank you
Real Praguer doesn't wear winter cloth at all, he just doesn't expect cold in winter. :-) But this explains why my father is always saying that +3°C is worse than -5.
We went last year and this video was very helpful... The one thing that didn't happen is the snow melting lol. We went early December 2023 and there was snow on the ground the entire time we were there. it was beautiful. I was warm except for my hands. Definitely need better gloves this year.
Yep, we don't have so much cold winters but the high humidity and very common wind even if it usually not so strong make it unpleasant. Also the fogs some years occur a lot since the end of October to the end of February. Prague was always quite warm with little snowcoverage compared to the rest of the Czechia but last dozens years and especially last few years it is very rare it would be covered by snow for a few days and also it was freezing you could play ice hockey on frozen pond. Coming to Prague for "beautiful winter romance" is very naive. It is just gray, brown and dark for a 3-4 months.
thanks
Have a nice winter best regards from Vietnam 🇻🇳
Thanks Valery, but I'll stick to spring and summer to visit your beautiful city.
yo're the best. thanks a lot! :')
Nice explain
You make Praque a warmer place with your intellectigent information your Dry sense of Humor and you are a very Attractive Woman to watch.
The problem with snow in Prague is that as the city grew it became an island of increased temperature. The average temperature is higher now than it was lets say some decades ago and therefore even if it snows the snow rarely stays longer. And it's a pity because Prague is most beautiful covered by snow.
LOVE the socks :D
awesome an educational video. thanks. you're doing great job guys front and behind the camera aaxaxa ajoy
Thank you!
I will be in Prague early December. I will layer up! Haham true about the those from Norway, I saw one filming in Napal, 25th December, snow on the ground and he is swimming in the Creek! Brrr.
Good stuff, I will definitely pack well when I come to visit.
it is not so bad..usually is more than in the country..around 0 c ...and melting dirty salt snow
@@petex3909 thanks for the information!
You the best
Great video and funny too !
Thank you!
lol funny! Good video nice tips.
I'm Tunisien but apparently it is veryyyy cold compare to my country, thank you so much
Visiting Prague next February, had a feeling this would be the dress code
Valerie. Our trip to visit our family in Czech for Christmas is now cancelled because of all the Covid situation. I am English and my Wife is Czech. Its so disappointing. Another Xmas here in the UK. So hope we can meet you for a Pivo some time soon. But please keep posting your videos. We love them.
Second Xmas like that... I am sure you guys will be able to visit soon!
Temperature was a big factor in a recent destination decision. We opted for warmth. it was not a difficult decision.
I will be visiting in Dec-Jan but I'm coming from Michigan. And I lived in Germany for several years and know what central Europe winters are like: grey and damp. Cold is temps in low teens - Fahrenheit! With wind! And we get the Canada Clipper blowing in.
It's chilly here in Tucson today . . . 21C/70F! 🥶🌵🌵🌵🤣
-I've been warned- Great video and see you in Feb!
Nice video Valerie 👍🏿
Thanks!
I wanna experience Prague winter!
When I come to Prague in winter, it is like a spring treat, as I come from the NE, Ohio, so it's usually warmer in Prague than where I live. I will just wear a mid weight jacket usually and my friends don't understand how I'm not cold. I am also always drinking beer, which may keep me warm, as well...
Global warming caused that especially winter months became warmer. December and January got on average almost 3°C warmer since 1961. So we have like few days or max 1-2 weeks of daily freezing temps but mostly it is 0-10°C sometimes even more. But people still have in their minds how it used to be and imagine Prague in winter covered by snow and ice which is now very rare.
I am from Ghana coming to Prague December
Thank you. My wife and I will be on Prague for 4 days next February. Your videos and they ones from the Honest Guide have been fantastic. Thank you so much. I have to ask what brand are those boots?
hahahaha....i likely fit in with the people you mention at about 50 seconds LOL....it had to drop below 5 here for me to start wearing the long underpants under my shorts, 2 days ago! Valerie I laughed so freaking hard at the "no shit sherlock" hahahahaha
You do look like you have some viking in you 😅
Hi Valeri, this was really useful and may I know the main places to visit during winter time.. preferably in December
Nice information Valerie. I am planning to visit Prague in November this year. I will be traveling from Ireland.
Hope to have a good weather as I am bringing my 1yo toddler with me. 🍼 👶🏻
Hi I have booked for November this year with my one year old. How was it.
And here in Recife, Brazil, is 30º at 08:26.
All the best fo you all.
strange this to hear from someone who grew up in old golden horda... who was whipped by a gentle siberian wind
I still remember the 30 straight totally overcast days during one of the winters that I spent in Prague, so I imagine that an absence of sunshine doesn't help either.👍
Oh, and by the way, I'm still waiting for your Kafka walking tour 😉
😅 soon
Another great video! End of November is too cold too?
And I thought that Prague would be white during winters...very informative 👍👍👍👍
chance is in january-febuary
I knew a (Soviet)Russian who did a turn in Afghanistan. He was born & raised in Siberia, but said Afghanistan was beyond Hell it was so cold.
Valery is Russian I'd imagine she could walk around in shorts & t-shirt no worries.
ME? I wear wool longjohns year round (if it'll keep the cold out, it'll keep the heat out).
For some strange reason my friends/family think there's something wrong with me.
Hello Valery, myself and a friend is coming to visit Prague by the last week of March, would it still be very cold and winter clothes on that time is still needed? Thank you very much for your informative videos!
Hi Valeri! Me & my husband will be visiting prague for a month in March 2022.Any tips for clothing? And what can we prepare for our trip.Thank you.Cheers!
Such good advice! But what about your legs? How do you keep them from freezing from the wind??
3:15 I have very similar shoes for winter here. The problem on the picture is not the shoes it's the naked ankles. That's how you catch the cold. But I'm from Vysočina so may-be I belong to that Canadian/Skandinavian people you told about. 😁
You definitely belong there 😂
Visiting right after Christmas, but I’m from the northern part of the US so I think I got this! 2C is a warmer winter day for us ;)
Personally I prefer - 5C zo 2C. The humidity and the wind are the killer.
@@afiiik1 being from the Midwest, we often say “it wouldn’t be so bad if it was t for the wind” lol
Right now it’s -4C here and that’s warm coming off temps below -23C for almost a week, and sometimes down to -32C
@@Jamhands9 we've had a pretty chilly week just recently going down to - 20°C and I still preferred that to 2C and a drizzle.... I wish we would have colder temperatures in winter like we used to when I was little 😔
Hi! Girl, what’s the weather like in late March please, thanks :)
Here in my city (Hyderabad, Pakistan) normal temperature in winter is 8-16
Trust me it's so hot here
Same temperatures here in Bavaria, we can join together :)
🤣
Well I've been there in winter and I'm Australian...wasn't too bad, just needed to generate inner warmth with vodka and that wonderful Czech beer.
hi... in winter we drink grog is is like hot tea with rum..))) could be rum + coffe..))
This Aussie is heading there this December, people whinge about Winter here in Brisbane 🤣
I don't suppose you could do a video of how to locate toilets around the Christmas markets? We're coming in a couple of weeks and apart from restaurants and Starbucks I can't see any around Old town?
Pretty much how I dress when camping. 😝
clean and dry socks, and boots is better than two socks,
I was thinking about visiting Prague again next month in December, 2021, but since COVID infections and hospitalizations are rising out of the pan again, the resulting restrictions are making travel impossible. That's too bad for such a beautiful and fascinating city that's heavily dependent on tourism. But I'll be back someday! (Best wishes from the Netherlands, . . . we're code red, too!)
As someone coming from Winnipeg, Canada where it can get as cold as -35 (even -45 Celsius more rarely), although a dry cold which does make a difference, I am wondering if my parka will be too warm for a trip to Prague in December?
Hi, which is the most reliable app to check weather in prague?😊
I come to visit next week if all are well.
I bought myself warm clothes :).
I would like to know if the Christmas market is still present because of covid?
Most of the Christmas Markets are shut down because of the government restrictions, some smaller ones are opened because they found the way of how to go around the government restrictions. (but the best ones are closed)
I m coming in mid march how the temp would be ?
Are the weather conditions comparable to the city of Dresden?
Is it snowing yet in Prague ?
Is there Covid protocols now there (July 2022)? I want to go around Christmas time but maybe earlier in December to miss the larger rush. Or is just too busy all December?
I was in Prague last summer (August) and there were no protocols/controlling except for public transport I wore a mask
I am planning to visit Prague on 18-20 march this year, what should i expect, in terms of weather?
Probably around 15°C and cloudy, maybe rain according to meteo prediction but it can change.
Hi, we are planning on visiting Prague next January 2023 and my question is: beside the cold wind, does it rain a lot in January?
Overal preticipation in January is low but it is raining/snowing and something between it quite often. But mostly it is like mild drizzling not heavy rain like in the summer. In the winter February is better because you already have some sun which starts to be warmer and days are longer. Especially the end od February already has the vibe od early spring.
Hello Valerie! I'm going to Prague on January the 28th 2022. Do you think that there will be snow around that time? Is it possible?
January is generally one of the coldest months, there is a chance it might snow, but honestly I don't know 🤔
@@RealPragueGuides Thank you so much for your kind and honest response! See you soon.
What’s the weather like mid September please
It’s usually still warm 15 - 25 degrees Celsius depending on the year. No need for winter jacket. I would have shorts as well as pants packed, T-shirt, sweatshirt possibly lighter jacket just to make sure in case it’s colder.
You have a cool accent :)
She is not czech girl by her accent.Came from Russia I think.
Mam I want to know below 15 years child is free in the transport of Prague ??
hii ! im really hoping you could answer my question. im going for a student exchange in UCT Prague in february 2024. i really want to experience the snow. will there be snow between february till may? or is it just cold
If you will be lucky maybe few days in February but that is all. March is not much nice and still quite cold with daily temps 5-12°C but April is beautiful when everything is getting green and blossoming and first warm days are occuring. May with its long days and lot of sunshine already feels almost like summer, especially at the second half has temps 20-25°C. Basically, Prague is good to visit almost entire year maybe except heat waves in summer with 30°C+ which are like 1/3 of the summer or time between half of November and end of January because of too much darkness when it is dark in 4:30 pm. On the other hand you have Christmass time which has its spirit.
Laughs in Finnish
:)
In Alaska we say there is no bad weather, just insufficient clothing.
But the people are warm
Because Covid are YOU closed again ?
Good Luck 🙏🙏🙏
We are still running tours, not sure for how long though. Thanks for your wishes!

This girl is so cute and sweet
All troubles have origin in English itself. English speakers say: It's WINTER and we can expect COLD weather. But there isn't conjunction between terms. Czechs will say: Je ZIMA, bude ZIMA jak prase... and everything is given. :D
0:38 She forgot the Ruskies, Finnies & Baltics. But the Irish or Scots... really...
Tomorrow i’m coming from istanbul (15c) to prague (-2) 😂
