I found this very helpful as a Korean language/culture learner and I really appreciate your hard work! I would love to see more but understand it is most likely a labor of love.
An impressive and clear analysis of details which I have tried to explain to family members who watch dramas with me but sometimes struggle to point out. After living in Korea long enough and learning the language deep enough, these things kind of slip by my radar. I love how you identified each small detail that implies so much!
Wow.. This is what you call a hidden gem. Superb work! This drama was recommended to me by a South Korean co-worker since I shared my interest in the Korean language and culture. Thanks for all your fascinating insights, they have motivated me even more!
This was great! I learned so much. I had to go back and rewatch the first episode so I could fully understand everything I missed the first time. As a Korean-speaking American, I thought I understood a lot, but you took it to a whole new level!! I wish I could watch all my K-dramas with you by my side to add insightful commentary! ㅋㅋㅋㅋ I hope you take the time to make more videos! I had a brief stint making RUclips videos when I was in Korea earlier this year, and I know the work that goes in to each one. I still have plans to make more, but it is so hard to find the time!! I've been working on the same one for months now.... Good luck to you!
Pretty much confirms the things that I picked up from repeated viewing, but the intricacies of addresses I probably never would have worked out entirely. Good work.
Thanks for a great VDO. I recently watched lots of Korean drama and learnt more Korean culture from My Mister. Looking forward for more VDO from your channel 👍
This is great! I love the details! I'm learning Korean and it's very frustrating to see the missing or right out the gate wrong translations! Also the nuances are often missed. Even though your video is 41 minutes long, it didn't seem so,I didn't even notice when it was over. I love the pace and the explanation.English is not my first language but it's easy to understand you. The fun editing is a plus too hehe👍🏽고맙습니다! Please keep making more!! 화이팅!
Amazing!!! Thanks so much for making this video. My Mister is a master work of long form cinema but reading the subs I had a feeling that alot was getting lost in translation. Your break down of Korean hierarchy and culture is a great primer to help Westerners understand the drama. Please make more videos. 🙏
Thank you for your incredible work on this beautiful, fantastic and one of a kind drama. Can't imagine the amount of effort you put into this. Thanks again and I really wish you would continue this for the rest of the drama...
Such a great in-depth review. As a non-korean viewer, having this knowledge makes the voeweing experience so much more unique and makes for a more immersive experience. Please continue these, they are fascinating
There was an interview of the My Mister actors joking about when they first went from being an 'Oppa' to an 'Ajusshi'. Apparently the transition is as traumatic as when a woman in the American south is first called 'ma'am'.
I just watched this show !!!OMG!! I totally recommended, beautiful live story, understanding the situation on both side, a young girl going thru a lot injustice, without parents any support but her elderly sweet Grandma, disabled and mute!!! Also we have A successful mature Man suffering injustices, married wife cheating, related to his boss !! Wonderful story and acting!!! My respects to MR. LEE 🕊️ REST IN PEACE😭AND BEAUTIFUL TALENTED IU!!!! 😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍
I loved this video. I've already seen the complete series but learning so much more about Korean culture is fascinating. but where are the rest of the videos. I hope you are in good health..
Mention of the city Busan and the Baduk board reminded me that 'B' in Korean is sometimes pronounced closer to 'Ph' , so it sounds like Phusan and Phaduk. Old US histories of the Korean war would often reference Pusan instead of Busan.
Thank you for the VERY FIRST COMMENT™️ for this video and for this entire channel. If this ever gets big, you'll always have that bragging right of being the first commenter😉
2 things they didn't really showcased well, hero was already uninterested in his wife but never showed why, and his history of his evil boss during the college days
This social hierarchy system means to me that Korea is basically still stuck in the Age of Aristocracy. I wouldn't like living that way. Having a "higher" standing absolutely does not make a person worthy of respect. For me, that is an ultimate truth. Respect those who are worthy, and in any first meeting one should assume the other person Is worthy of respect. When someone proves themself unworthy, all bets are off. I wonder if this is why so many Korean shows have class conflict as an underlying theme. It certainly is not presented as a positive in society. BTW, I don't like it in the US either. Most of our elected officials would Not Get any kind of respect. Common courtesy, like Mister or Mom/Dad is ok. Boss works for me. Ajoessi is Fine. But undue defference, in my thinking, is degrading.
meh, it's the way they live and operate. Given that, Koreans are known to be one of the most democratic nation on earth, successfully impeaching their corrupt president and uni student have enough voting power to remove or reinstate professors or staff. I mean, when two koreans meet, the first ever question they will ask is age and boom, hierarchy is established. Its not about respect. Its a language and behavioural concept that needs to be established before two people can even start a conversation
@@jollajolyo Perhaps you are Korean? Forgive me, I really don't Know anything about Korea and it's culture, except what I see here on RUclips, and what I've read regarding it's history. That was inspired by watching Mr. Sunshine, best thing on TV EVER. I very much admire what the 3 western style liberal democracies of E. Asia have done. Japan, the RoC, and the RoK have pulled themselves up from devastation after the war to become truly thriving societies. None of the three are even remotely the same as previously, except maybe culturally. So, my question becomes one where I'm not sure I understand how Koreans feel about it. Once hierarchy is established, does the "lesser" individual feel the need to adopt an attitude of service or obedience to the "greater"? That's my perception, and I know it could be way off the mark, a matter of ignorance, and not disrespect. One of the really bad things about the US is the fading away of common courtesy. Please, Thank You. Yes, sir or No, ma'am. The last two are very, very rarely heard anymore. At 71, I've come to despise the changes in culture that have happened here. Thanks for the reply, and the manner in which it was presented. Very thoughtful of you.

This is amazing!
