My Mister is a masterwork. The tragic death of Lee Sun-kyun inspired me to watch it again. I'm haunted by how some of the scenes in the drama foreshadow the actor's life. The shot of Park Dong Hun looking out from the bridge had me in tears.
I stopped watching after the first episode initially, only returning after about a year. I have now watched a couple times, and it’s quite simply the best drama I’ve ever seen. After watching, I also dove more into IU and her music, IU TV, etc - and even went to her concert in NJ this year. I encourage all of you to do the same. She is a poet with her beautiful lyrics, and she is known for her kind heart and unbelievable singing. Watch her MMA 2017 performance (award show) to get a sense. You won’t be disappointed.
Thanks for the review of "My Mister"! I agree regarding your thoughts on the drama itself and IU's contributions to it. While I consider myself fortunate to have had no idea who IU was when I first watched "My Mister", so that Lee Ji An wasn't overshadowed by IU herself, I have since come to appreciate her acting abilities in her MVs, her genuine self on IU TV, IU's Palette, and her performances on stage. Sorry, but I'm not able to sort out all of your various channels sufficiently to know whether or not you have ever reacted to any of her music or commented on it somewhere. If not, as someone who was in college during the '70s, I think that you would appreciate her range of musical genres, even though her primary lane isn't near seventies rock.
Thank you for watching. I was very impressed with her acting indeed. I haven't delved deeply into her music although I have watched some performances on RUclips. She puts on a good show.
It's certainly a movie a couples can watch, but it's not a romance as such. Deeply emotional but not an overt love story. Which makes it more interesting I think.
I need help... I've made it past episode 3 but I'm really hating it... it has no likeable characters... either they're utterly lazy, evil, stupid or whatever... they're all 1 dimensional characters and the series gives me a real bad feeling, making me depressive... tell me it gets better.... tell me there will be at least 1 positive note about the characters... I need somebody to like in this series !!!
I felt the same way too! Press on!!! The amazing thing is that your perception will change gradually, without any sudden or unrealistic changes in the characters. You learn to accept their flaws and see the beauty in them.
Thanks... I got frustrated with the series so I did a binge yesterday and watched 3 episodes in a row and its better now... characters are starting to show feelings even though they still refuse to talk about important stuff with each other which is still weird to me... all these closed characters..@@coolcoolname
I think it's worth persisting, at some point the depth of emotion begins to become apparent. I understand the closed off thing though, the carry on regardless and not talk about it. It's possible that is a deep rooted cultural thing in a culture that was still heavily Confucianism based till not that long ago. Thank you very much for watching and commenting by the way, it's very much appreciated by me.
After I wrote the previous message I binged 3 episodes in 1 go... and it got better.. even though they insist on not talking to each other I do like the series now.. but too much shit thrown at the viewer.. it really made me depressed.@@ThatSeventiesRockFan

I agree with every word. Lee sun Kyun was an amazing actor. So sorry we've lost him.
Thanks for your comment and for watching Myrna. We still feel his loss badly, very sad.
The best drama
It is a wonderful and deeply moving show isn't it.

Glad you got into it second time round. It's a masterpiece, truly. And I totally agree about IU, she is extremely talented.
