I'm really thankful that I clicked on this video. I'm a single mom and I've been to regular college and kept failing. I gave up because I could never come up with what i wanted to do. Cosmetology had always been an interest in the back of my mind, and i always pushed it away because i didnt wanna mess up someone's hair. Now, I'm signing up to go into cosmetology in the next month and I've been really nervous about it. But I feel so much better after watching your video. So thank you so much for your advice!
Running across this video now being in my first semester it makes my anxiety level go down... knowing I have somebody that went through the same shit and that I can relate too... thank you for this video ❤️ I’ve learned so far, whenever you get sick of it, you just gotta take a minute to really breathe.

I’m so happy you’re doing this series!!! I’m almost in my fourth month of cosmetology school and I really feel like I’m struggling more than I should be at this point. Do you plan on doing tutorials for this series? If you do, could you consider doing tutorials for things like blow outs? I feel like at my school we just jumped right in to coloring and cutting, and only certain cuts at that. My strong suit is definitely color, and I’m decent at cuts but for some reason I can never get a blowout to look the way I want it to.
I have two tutorials in the playlist already, but I definitely want to do more! I'll add blowouts to the list! Honestly though, that was something that I got better at once I was in the salon, so don't worry about it too much! Like I mentioned in the video, you will learn SO MUCH more in your first year behind the chair than you ever could in school. ;)

my goal is to become a licensed medical lab technician and then pursue grad school for medical microbiology. completely unrelated to cosmetology 😅 however I have been binging all of your beauty school videos 😂 I love them so much and find it so interesting! Maria Silva girl color wheels are going to be your bestfriend and you’ll learn knowing about color will help you with toning the hair. and developer 10 lifts one shade 20 lifts two shades and so on. Toner is usually demi permanent colors and it’s used with 10 developer. hope that helps for now , i’m also a cosmo student!
Im a student in Denmark. I don't do hair, but skincare, waxing, stuff like that. I've only been there for two months and its very hard. I hope it will be all worth it in the end!
Great tips i stopped cosmetology school last year at 800 hours 😢 dont know if ill finish my school had alot going on and it was stressful and also i like doing hair but i didnt love it everyone there was like oh i love this its my passion and i felt out of place since i didnt love it.
I totally get what you mean. It's a tough industry to get into and become "successful" in, so if you don't absolutely love it and think it's your passion, you'll probably get burnt out pretty quickly and be sick of it. Although, it is a great skill to have to make some extra money on the side!

im in beauty school right now, but there is days i love it and days that i just want to go home. i have about 3 months left! then I'm onto my state board test... i would love to see you talk about state boards.. i am super nervous for it! im not a good test taker at all!
Honestly, I don't really have any tips to share as far as state boards. I've always been a good test taker, so I didn't have a problem with it :/

When I was in my early 20s I debated on going to a beauty school because I’ve always loved hair. At that time I was a junior in college and I ended up getting my bachelors degree since I was almost done. I still think to this day what if I had just done it while I was younger 🤨 I’m 30 now, mom of 2 and I feel like that ship has sailed 😂
Esmeralda N. No it hasn’t! I’ve actually had a few comments from women in their 40s. One was even in her 50s. And they were just now finally going to cosmetology school. So it’s never too late, as long as you have the time for it! I got my bachelors degree too and KNEW that if I didn’t go to beauty school and give this career a shot, I would always wonder “what if” so I’m sooo happy I decided to make the career change! I’m 26, about to be 27, by the way. Don’t have kids, but I’m not much younger than you.

I have watched cosmetology student videos and everyone is speaking about hair. Where I live (in finland) here is cosmetology and hairdresser side separately. But nice video 😊
one of my biggest tips is if your school offers for you to inter, i would highly reccomend doing it! you learn so much more, plus you get extra hours for it!

Hi Samantha, I found you through your Cosmetology videos because I related SO with you on your situation on even starting school. I have a four year bachelors degrees and the thought of "starting over" is so scary. I plan on starting this year and would like to know how you did it financially if you don't mind. I still live with my parents but I know paying for this on my own is still not easy. Any tips?! Scholarships/grants/loans/payment plans? Anything helps! Thanks!
Hi! I had to take out a loan. Because I already had a degree, I automatically didn't qualify for any government grants, unfortunately. Contact the financial aid person at the school you're thinking of going to and set up a meeting to go over all of that. From my experience, they're very helpful and will let you know all of your options and help figure out a plan for you!

I have 3 1/2 months left of school and I am in the “hornors” section and I have done hair before school and #1 is definitely the hardest for me. My only fuck up in beauty school so far was shaving a naked line through a guys hair because my clippers missed my comb 🤦🏻♀️

I graduated two years ago I still cannot pass my exam, that’s what’s holding me back. I have one more chance but I’m scared to fail it again, any suggestions on the writing exam part? Honestly, I lucked out because I've always been good at taking tests, so I passed mine on the first try without studying lol. But I felt like there were a lot of trick questions or they were just worded kind of oddly, so don't second guess yourself! I'm sure you KNOW the information, so just trust your instinct and don't worry about memorizing anything.
Definitely do the most to pass, make so much flash cards, read up every day even if it’s just 30 minutes. Make it ur everything and you will pass! Hoping u did well ! ❤️

Andrea Boozer it varies depending on the school you go to. I suggest touring all of the schools in your area and asking them all of your questions.
