    By the way, I am a clinical aromatherapist and I do have 35 liter copper stills but I really like your small distillation unit because if we only have a small amount of plant material growing in our apothecary garden or we want to try a wild plant I forage, we can run a small amount to try the plant out. We'll be featuring your unit in some of our upcoming videos and of course in our Etsy shop. Great product!

    Thank you for making this video. It was helpful to see the details of the cooling pump system. My plan this week was to make a rosemary hydrosol (with your distiller). I have lots of fresh rosemary I am wintering indoors and all of the plants need a trim. While I use fresh rosemary, should I fill the tin? I heard you mention 240 grams of dried rosemary- did that fill the tin? Thank you.

      Hello, I was using dried rosemary leaves so it’s weight could be different from the fresh leaves when filled the column. You may want to cut the fresh leaves into small pieces. This can help increase extraction efficiency.

    How about lilac next for a hydrosol? Lilac has calming effects, similar to lavender, and it can be used as a freshener for household linens and cottons.

      It is steam distillation. Herb is placed in the column on top of the pot so steam will go through the herb while distilling.

    Sometimes I find that hydrosols don't really smell like the plant they were extracted from. I recently made a batch of lemongrass hydrosol and before bottling, I was cooling it down and just gave it a sniff. It smells nothing like lemongrass

    • @LeTimeLeo
      @LeTimeLeo  2 года назад

      There can be a little difference between hydrosol and it’s plants. Lemongrass should be a good match with its extract. Do you use hydro or steam distillation?

    • @avanti2762

    If you add dried rosemary herbs in distilled water, then remove the herbs, how long can you keep the water without refrigerating?!

    • @LeTimeLeo
      @LeTimeLeo  3 года назад +4

      If you just use water to soak rosemary and filter out, the tea wouldn’t last long even in refrigerator. You may need finish them in one day. One of Difference between tea and hydrosol is that hydrosol is distilled and sanitized so it is good to last long time.
