i dont mean to be so offtopic but does someone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot my login password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
@Konnor Ari I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I am just reading a young adult novel called "The Orange Trees of Versailles" in which the author Annie Pietri used the word "alembic" and I came here to see this lovely video and understand the context AND meaning for this new to me word. So fascinating! Thank you! The story is about a young girl who has a knack for mixing scents and parfum.
I never get tried of watching this video of your still. As I've said before this is my all time favorite device that you have in your soaping kitchen! LOVE IT!
I cannot begin to tell you how helpful this video was!! I am new to distilling hydrosols, and I found your explanation so welcoming and approachable. THANK YOU!!
First time commenting, it was enjoyable to watch. How should someone go about separating the oil from the hydrosol liquid? I find that would be quite interesting to learn as well. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!
Thank you. I spent all day looking for an Alembic and had seen the one you are using at Candles and Supplies. Your vid convinced to pull the trigger on the this one so again, thanks.
This is so interesting! Thank you for sharing your process. I don't make soap or anything except my own cbd, topical cream for personal use, but I do enjoy watching your videos.
What a fantastic and interesting video !! In my heart I would love to do all of these things, but I know realistically I never will. Watching you was like watching my dream life in an alternative universe. I only wish we had a way to smell what was going on !! Thank you for sharing !
Hey Ariane! I just love watching the distillation process...so cool! ; ) The copper Alembic is so attractive too. What are the skin benefits of the coriander? So interesting...love it! Have a great weekend. Big ((Hugs)) and Love from Texas!! xo : )
Yes, what is missing here is the "smell-o-vision"! That was very interesting, and I have often thought of doing this myself. We have an entire shelter belt of sea buckthorn, and every fall it hurts my heart to see it all just go to waste. I think I should show this video to my hubby.
very nice video, one of the best i have seen so far, where you explain all the process slowly to be understandable and also link the website to buy the equipment. Thanks alot for putting an effort. Do you have a video of collecting the essioncial oil as well ? may be a video of rose essioncial oil distillation ?
Hello Ariana, thank you for explaining the hydrosol distilling. I can’t wait to get one. I have a question have you geared of chaga. Someone who harvests it up in the Adirondacks which is 1 hour north of me had contacted me to make soap from it for wholesale for her.
Thanks for taking the time to not only work your Alembic, but to also film & edit the process. Can this device also be used to make essential oil with a careful process of secondary separating ?
Hi Ariane. Awesome video. Thank you so much. Did you mention the still’s capacity in litres? If not, how big is the one you’ve used in this video? Thanks so much. Again, awesome video. More power to you!
Thank you so much for the informative tutorial. I really appreciate it. I have a distiller and enjoyed making several hydrosols. My one concern is when to determine the evaporation process is complete. I have been timing with each one, but it would be helpful to visually see the amount remaining. I was told that you should watch the drip pattern and when the drip really slows down you should be complete I was also informed that the temperature should go down slightly when the water is almost evaporated. This is not a very convenient or supportive method to determine whether you are going to burn your pot by overheating. I have done it once and it’s a messy cleanup. The thermometer does not drop in temp. Thank you
I loved your video, I just bought my first distiller and am fumbling around with it. I like your distiller a whole lot! I made a batch of cinnamon hydrosol, when I was trying to make cinnamon oil, but don't quite have all the necessary components yet...
I really enjoyed your video. You did a wonderful job of explaining the process of distilling and how it happens. I also can appreciate the steps you take to keep a sterile work space. What's some examples that you use coriander hydrosol water for?
Thank you so much for sharing the detailed processes of making Hydrosol. I have learned a lot today! I have a question that is there any rule of the ratio of herb and distilled water? Or always 1/3 of the copper size?? I really love this video!! :)
Shout out to PA 🤙🏻 my first home - the state that made me who I am today.. it deff has its flaws and stigmas but, I met some of the greatest friends that I still have contact with today. TBH it wasn’t hard to leave but I sure do miss it often, I think I have a strong connection with the area I grew up in because- my family immigrated here from Ireland during the potato famine in the 1840s&50s. The men took jobs as security and even law enforcement jobs in the community while the women built strong communities between the church and family business. Since the Civil War, atleast one memeber of my family living at the time has faught for the US (for which I am extremely proud) I’m not trying to brag or boast but I do take extreme pride & joy in the deep roots my family has in Eastern Pa.
Great video! The book you suggest seems to be out of print. I would love one, do you have a suggestion where to buy? Thanks for your great information.
B Newman yes, I have made a Fir Balsam hydrosol! I posted the video a few weeks ago. But at the moment because it was harvest season, I was more focused on making hydrosols for later use.
The Creams or lotions made from that Coriander Hydrosol is very effective against "Contact Dermatitis Subjects" . Also very useful for sensitive skin which tends to Burn or get red ....
Great and informative video! Thank you for sharing it! Do you feel it is necessary to use a preservative in cold process soap while using a handmade Hydrosol? I own a commercial kitchen so all the sanitizing will be easy as far as that goes. Just wondering if the preservative is absolutely necessary, sure hate to put something like that in an otherwise all natural soap. Wondering your thoughts on this. Thank you! -Momo
I Love your videos!! I have a question. I am pretty new to cold process. I have done rebatch in the past and I am having trouble with adding EO's and or fragrance. So far every time I add in the EO's my batch thickens up soooo fast I can hardly get in a loaf pan fast enough. What am I doing wrong?
I think only in North America is there a distinction between coriander as the seed and "cilantro" as the plant - elsewhere the whole plant is called coriander. Americans only call the leaves "cilantro" because that's the Spanish word, and it's heavily used in Mexican cooking. Certainly, as you should know, the French word is coriandre.
So I've been admiring this still for the last 3 years and my husband just got me one for an anniversary gift. I'm so excited to start. I am curious though, you pointed out the essential oil floating on the surface and how you weren't going to separate them. How would I go about separating that oil of I did want to go through the effort if collecting it?
excellent video, thanks for share this. May I have an idea about how long it usually takes from the start of heating to finish distilling? With that 1198kgs coriander, how many litre of hydrosol and essential you will usually get?
Hello Ariane, thank you for sharing this wonderful information. I am new to this abd recently bought a mushroom alembic pot from Amazon. It came with no instructions so I had try and figure out how to use it. Unfortunately, I had no success with trying to make hydrosol from sage. Can I send you a photo of my pot and perhaps you could advise if there is something missing. Many thanks!
Thanks for sharing this, I too love the smell if coriander- it's so uplifting! When you make soap with your hydrosols, do you use it in place of water in your lye solution? If so, does the scent survive the heat & pH from the lye? Does it discolor? I'm sorry if the answers to my questions are in another video I may have missed. Thank you again!
Heather B I don’t use the hydrosol to make my lye water. I make a 50% lye solution with distilled water and add the hydrosol in place of the other water part in my oils.
Great job of explaining the entire process and I wish I could have been there to smell the hydrosol!
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does someone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?

@Angelo Fernando glad I could help =)

Love that you use natural and local ingredients!
Love it, I use natural items from my land and this is the incentive I needed to make plunge and get a distillery, thank you so much.
I never get tried of watching this video of your still. As I've said before this is my all time favorite device that you have in your soaping kitchen! LOVE IT!

Thank you. I spent all day looking for an Alembic and had seen the one you are using at Candles and Supplies. Your vid convinced to pull the trigger on the this one so again, thanks.

Awesome. It's like magic. Thanks so much for sharing the process. Have you made soap with the hydrosol you've distilled so far?

Awesome. Thanks! Question: can you explain how you use the hydrosols in soap making?
Wiw, you have the huge one, I use the Alquitar Alembic.
I love it, and the lavender hydrosol smells wonderful. My coriander just started to bloom and can't wait to try it.
