I hope you still have RUclips and see this. I just started working on my own jeep and like everyone else has to look up shit. some videos people post don't document it very well, but you sir did an amazing job 100% ! i will be following you. keep up the amazing work
I have the exact same problem, come to find out, although they didn't have a recall on this, a dealer will fix it for free. Look up "clockspring replacement X68 warranty extension.
Oh wow. That’s great to know because since then I’ve gotten another Jeep and I have the Same problem. Although I know how to fix it, I’ve been procrastinating it lol thanks for the advice
So was the clockspring the only thing that needed to be replaced to restore full functionality to all of the steering wheel buttons? We just bought a 2012 compass with this exact same problem. Horn and Air bag dont work, airbag light is on, and the only steering wheel control button that works is the cruise control. I was pretty sure we were going to be stuck doing a whole steering wheel replacement possibly.
My son held down on that button that says cancel on our Jeep and now below the right meter on the dashboard there's solid straight lines that are lit up but dem and won't go away once the car is off I repeated what he did and they won't shut off any ideas?
Same thing for me - no controls / just cruise control worked. I ordered clock spring online and then tried the left/right hack and it worked!! Does this work forever or a temporary fix and do the clock spring anyway? Thanks in advance and if i can save 160$ by returning the clock spring next week, i owe you a beer!!! Please LMK!!! ~Rich
creamofclapton1911 was temporary for me too BUT after some research online - there was not a recall but an extension of the clock spring warranty from Jeep from 5 to 15 years. Certain LH drive jk models. Will get it done next week at the dealership and save myself the cash and frustration. Thx again.
GET YOUR DEALER TO DO IT FOR FREE. For 2007-2011 Wranglers, there is a recall on this. Check the two NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V288000 and 13V176000. For 2011-2016 Wranglers see NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V288000. It starts with your controls not working and then later your airbag light may intermittently come on. My dealership was going to charge me $1600+ for a new airbag on my 2011 Jeep Wrangler. I had to ask 3 different advisors to have the "technician" check the clockspring first. They finally checked and replaced the clock spring under the recall with no cost to me.
I think i got the exact same problem. Airbag light stays on. Volume and every other button stopped working. Only the cruise control is working. I was hoping it was just a fuse. Shit.
Thanks for sharing - I’m about to attempt it - send up some prayers.... also, was cracking up some on you and those tongue twisters...waiting for you to say some bad words or get out the sledgehammer....jk - good job!
Bad video , you put your clockspring in wrong , u did not align it with the bottom centering pin on the steering wheel , no one do what this guy showed u , if you want ti do it right you need to aling the clockspring and steering wheel ....

h8tnlife paid like $40 for it on amazon
@@harambejku I imagine the dealership would charge 500+ to install it. 🤦
@@harambejkuwhat’s the link?
If the clock spring is bad can that also make the wipers and headlight controls not work??

I just disconnected the battery for 15 mins. If that don’t work turn your steering wheel sharp all the way to left and right
