Happy birthday, Magnum! As I have mentioned, My Murray lived with diabetes from age 7 until almost 16. He also had Cushings. He did lose his sight and I had to have his eyes removed, but he lived a full life. In regard to your mother-in-law, when my Nana was having issues, my mom's attorney who specialized in elder care told her to put all of Nana's assets in her name to that Nana qualified for every kind of government care possible. Just a thought.

Happy Birthday Magnum! He clearly loves a goose! A dog can live with diabetes for several years. My mom gave her insulin shots 2 times a day .Gabby lived to about 16 years. The greatest gift in life is to love ! It comes with heartache alot but not know that feeling would be worse! May God bless you and your family and always know the ones you love know it and are blessed because of it!
Happy Birthday Magnum he reminds me of my youngest when he gets a new toy. Happy Birthday to Marley as well. As long as you move around the injection sites you souldn't have any issues with Mozzie's shots hurting him. My first dog was 14 had diabeties as long as we moved around the injection site we didn't have any issues. You caught it early in Mozzie and he is in very good hands. His eyes look good compared to even before my dog was diagnosed. Prayers for you mother in law it can be very hard I work in PT and I know how tough it can be. God bless

I’m assuming tomorrow she’ll say to up it to 4 units. Not sure if I’ll put my pool up this summer or not. Just so much going on this year. We’ll see 😊

Fred mini Schnauzer lived with Diabetes from age 9 to 13yr.. We heard the same things at 1st. Fred Keep his eye sight mostly in the 1st yr aftr he got good at guiding himself we couldn't tell if he was Blind. We joined Diabetes Dog Owners on FB which saved Us!! 😀 Fred lived a great Diabetes life till the end. We really miss him but being his personal nurse was worth it !! Keep a daily Consistency once you figure it out with your vet! Things will go smoothly for Mozzy!! P.s. Praying 🙏🏼 for Miggy we love ❤️ him on RUclips. Xo.

Regretfully, your MIL's condition is deteriorating, it's best for her to have round the clock care. However, it will help her if she agrees or even suggests it herself. I know I'm late in watching my videos about 2 days instead of the same day because of work. Which Happy Birthday to Magnum and Marley. Hope they have a wonderful day. Dozer says happy birthday Magnum He turned 12 last Christmas and he slowly went blind so he learned voice instructions, now his hearing is going we are using voice and touch signals. He is a very confident little schnauzer.
Happy Birthday (for yesterday) Magnum. Can’t believe he is 7! I remember when you introduced him. Looked like it was a lovely day yesterday. We’re seeing blue sky and sun but it’s so windy which makes it cold. Poor Mozzie. I worry about this with my boy because I know from watching your channel over the years that schnauzers are prone to pancreatitis and diabetes. My boy hates being groomed. I think the groomers are a bit rough with him. We don’t know what goes on because they don’t let us stay. We definitely wouldn’t book an appointment on his birthday lol. Sorry to hear about everything with your mother-in-law. It’s terrible (to say the very least) to see our parents and grandparents change
Late happy birthday to Magnum and Mozzie (I think). Today is May 11 so I’m trying to catch up with what is wrong with Magnum. More than dogs health, the health problems with your mother-in-law are very concerning. My mother had Alzheimer’s disease, my father was caring for her at home until he took a serious fall. They were both in 90s. At least they had some savings and a house. They started in an adult care home (I thought an institutional type place would be very difficult for my mother) each occupant had their own room, but because their rules they had two rooms. It was close to $800 per month. They had one on one care and homemade meals. Neither Mom or Dad would stay put at night, so we needed overnight care, now that was real expensive. My brothers and I lived out of town, but I was the closest, so on Friday night I would leave work drive from Auburn, Wa to Beaverton, Or, about 3 hours, stay with Mom and Dad. When we still had their house I would stay Saturday to visit with them then drive back home. When we sold their house we moved them to memory care facility. That was less and a really good place. I would continue to drive down on Friday and stay at a hotel and visit then drive home Sunday. They were at the adult home for five months. They were together at memory care until Dad passed four months later. Mom lived four months longer. They have been gone for twelve years, but when I hear stories like yours it all comes back. I left out all the medical stuff because this is what starts the whole cycle. Something happens then they can no longer live alone, cannot afford at home care. She is on the border of hospice because she has had a number of stays (I thought it was three emergency visits of hospitalizations in one month). Since she has gotten verbally abusive and physical with staff she will need to be medicated sufficiently. All those meds have to be tried to find out what works. When my folks passed we as a family were very close to having support them using our savings. If you have someone that can help you work out the finances, what she needs, what she can afford, if she’s borderline her retirement plus Medicare may be too much. She may qualify for Medicaid with the Medicare. I am sorry to go on so long, but no one is ready for any of this. Unfortunately I have heard and seen this happen for twelve years since we went through this. I wish you and your family good health and good wishes. We too are mourning our fourteen year old dachshund who died after dental surgery. Feel free to contact me.

She did go blind after a while -- my vet also told me not to move furniture (like you, no problem with rearranging). But she lived to a good old age and enjoyed life.

143 is the high end of what is acceptable for diabetes. I am also a type 2 diabetic and I have had my vet check Mc-E for diabetes. The range is 70-143 for normal
The schnauzers nose will guide them, my sixteen old schnauzer became deaf then blind but his nose never failed to guide him just needed help when going outside.

I left out all the medical stuff because this is what starts the whole cycle. Something happens then they can no longer live alone, cannot afford at home care. She is on the border of hospice because she has had a number of stays (I thought it was three emergency visits of hospitalizations in one month). Since she has gotten verbally abusive and physical with staff she will need to be medicated sufficiently. All those meds have to be tried to find out what works. When my folks passed we as a family were very close to having support them using our savings. If you have someone that can help you work out the finances, what she needs, what she can afford, if she’s borderline her retirement plus Medicare may be too much. She may qualify for Medicaid with the Medicare. I am sorry to go on so long, but no one is ready for any of this. Unfortunately I have heard and seen this happen for twelve years since we went through this.

Kim, you definitely have your hands full. Sending good thoughts to you and your family. Happy Birthday, Magnum! I had a diabetic schnauzer who needed insulin shots twice a day -- and I HATE needles. She did go blind after a while -- my vet also told me not to move furniture (like you, no problem with rearranging). But she lived to a good old age and enjoyed life.

143 is the high end of what is acceptable for diabetes. I am also a type 2 diabetic and I have had my vet check Mc-E for diabetes. The range is 70-143 for normal

My vet told me 200 was the goal for my dog's diabetes on insulin 2xday.
