RUclips randomly recommended your channel so I’m excited to know you’re still on the road! I agree 100% with Bryce Douglas that you should attend a Mardi Gras parade in Louisiana on Tuesday, March 21. They’ll be happening all across the State but the best ones are along Interstate Highway 10 ie Lafayette, Baton Rouge and New Orleans. I myself am going to Mamou, LA for a Cajun Mardi Gras where revelers in homemade costumes ride horses through the parish, stopping at farmhouses to beg for a chicken and then bring the chickens back to town where an outdoor party ensues while the families make gumbo for everyone to eat! Laissez les bons temps rouler!

I camped in my Prius in -10...without using my heater...just pile up on a good sleeping bags and sleeping blankets. Warm it up before going to sleep and it's fine all night. Crank it up in the am for a bit before you get up and going. I found that running it all night that often seemed hard on the Prius...but I think mine is older than yours. You should probably stay south at least until April because you will hit cold up in the NE ❄️🥶 Enjoy! I would go to New Mexico...tons of hot springs and Arizona and Utah...so much to see and it's the off season. Zion, Grand Canyon, Escalante...awesome brew pub in this little town and lots of free camping all around...Kanab, Bears Ears...just sooo much...many areas that have great hiking that are not National Parks...but if you have not been to Zion...go even if there are lots of peeps, it is a site to see. Same with Bryce. Be careful and do not drive the prius when the dirt roads are mushy...YOU WILL GET STUCK. Take my advice cuz I got stuck!😵‍💫😁

This from a dual citizen living back in Canada (Port Moody) having moved back after living in New Mexico, just want to make sure you do hit that interesting state. Thinking your likely to head east towards Florida, likely the only part of NM you will cross is the southern portion which is not that great. But the Gila Wilderness area might work…some good boondocking there at least… good luck
BTW I’m a 72 year old that car camps in a Prius also and it’s the best way to go back and forth from BC to NM! 😁

As someone living in the EU it's actually somewhat fascinating to see you guys struggling with crossing a border. I'm old enough to remember when there were actual checks but even then it mostly just was showing your passport and often enough just being waved thtough. Now over here you sometimes wouldn't even recognize that you just crossed the border if there were not some signs telling you about it.
So no, crossing a border doesn't have to be crazy. It's just what people/governments decided to make out of it.
I know that a lot of angst is pushed on the voters about the people outside the resoective country and about opening the borders. But over here we experience what actual freedom you get if you actually open them up. I'm living in a cross border relationship. And its not a big issue at all.
It's great that you show that it's mind opening to actually experience other countries. Over here it's just normal. Which does say everybody actually stays long enough in other countries to actually experience the other culture bits. But at least we see that there is more than just us.
I know that there are harsh borders surrounding the EU. It's far from perfect.
But within you just can drive through multiple countries without stopping. Or just take one train to do so. Without having to prepare anything special or stopping or even changing money. Or requiring special insurance. Or buying another phone card.
I wish more people would realize how much worth that is.

Welcome to Texas! I live near San Antonio. Sounds like you guys came over right during the winter storm. I’ve been racking my brain on what you guys could do and I was kind of struggling. I feel like most of the cool parts of Texas are in the smaller towns. Big Bend is a popular place to hike and Palo Duro Canyon is nice too. They are both in the middle of nowhere. If you don’t mind spending the money and they aren’t booked, we have tons of great state parks. My family camps a lot. While it's a heavy topic, it seems incomplete to travel through the southern United States without acknowledging that part of history.

Too bad you aren’t making it into southern FL, reality it’s pretty hot to be sleeping in a car right now. Lots of ways to find free showers and toilets, free parking.

We have those in Argentina too, we call them TELOS. They're fun when you're young and don't have your own apartment to go have fun with your boyfriend. LOL
