I Love my VTR. 26 years Now. I had a set of Chinese fairings on it while I repaired the originals after a careless car knocked it over. The Chinese parts are ok at a glance and now they are held in reserve for future mishap protection.
As a Senior rider, I really enjoy my raised Super Bike bars which a still sporty enough and way more comfortable on long rides throughout Canada and the USA. It still wants to “wheelie” all the time….Wooohooo 😮
The vtr1000 is an incredible bike, I loved the look, the power and especially the noise. Sadly I sold mine before I found out about the bar risers which was the main reason I had to change because at my age I was struggling with the weight on my wrists.
Thanks for watching Bill, stay safe my friend 👍
Quite a transformation, Weston. The VTR has always been and will always be a class act no matter what clothes it wears.
Absolutely Jim, it's nice for me to see what it should look like because I was never able to afford one when they were new.
I own one of the first made. Serial number 7** Build Date 2/97. Full Micron Exhaust, LE suspension. Honestly, this bike scares the 💩 out of me. The torque is amazing. I can pull the front end up in 1,2,3 and she still begs for more. Why o why did Honda discontinue such an incredible motorcycle. Comparing my VTR 1000 to any other motorcycle is like comparing an Elephant to an orange.
They are incredible bikes that never really had a decent replacement from honda.
They are easiest animal to ride on the road and there are few that compare even now 👍
Love it mate, I'm local to you so I might see you out there 👋
You never know buddy, literally just back from the same route now to blow the cobwebs off the sportster 🤣
Cheers Barry 🍻
I'm a first time bike rider just got my license couple months ago and bought a used VTR for my first bike. Its definitely been an experience learning on something that will wheelie in you all the time lol. I just wish i had someone local to talk to about VTR bikes i have a million questions now that I've been riding for a bit. I drove manual cars for 25yrs and lots of high performance manual cars and like in my GTO car the VTR 1rst gear is not a get up to 100mph gear. Its very torque filled and almost feels like after getting around 4-5k rpms it goes flat. My 2nd gear has had issues popping out and back into neutral so it's hard to push the throttle hard thru 2nd to get into a sweet spot in 3rd when I'm paranoid I'm about to lose power and jump into neutral which can be slightly jarring 😂... I've heard its a common thing just push into 2nd gear harder lol .and possible forks are bent? Would like some advice. Just put some road 6's tires about 450 miles ago and loving the ability to have confidence in my tires because the ones that came with the bike were pretty bald. I'm mechanically inclined with cars so working on bike seems allot easier not having to dig and squeeze into tight spaces with tons of electrical stuff to get around lol. I've already done an oil change, clutch fluid flush, and would like to change brake pads and flush fluid front and back. Noticed rear brake squeals when i use it. Mechanic i had swap my tires said brake pads had meat but looked old and suggested changing them. Also want to definitely do coolant flush since I'm starting summer here and it can get hot. Anyone around Chicago Illinois?
Hi my friend, sounds like you've made a good choice with the vtr as a first bike but only because you already have road experience which means you understand the dangers of performance.
The gearbox on my vtr was pretty amazing, buttery smooth with the gear change but did occasionally get the odd false neutral so pushing the gear a bit harder was the way I overcame it. My bike was 25 years old and the gearbox was much better than the 10 year old multistrada I have now.
Great choice of tyres, and new brake pads with fresh fluid and braided hoses will make a massive difference.
Before you spend the money though get someone to check the forks with you for a second opinion. Won't be too hard to see if they are straight, either with a decent straight edge or a lazer pointer like chain monkey make. If the lazer isn't in the centre of the fork leg then it's not straight. If so pick up a decent hand set and get them serviced and then do all the upgrades. We all change the nice bits we can see but changing the fork oil makes a massive difference to the handling and rideability.
I am despitarate to visit Chicago because I want to ride route 66 at some point before its too late. Just came back for NYC but there is no way I'm riding a bike through that city 😱
@@wsmv Thanks for the advice brother, so your saying to push up a little harder when shifting into 2nd then? Weird things happened the other day. I changed my grip squeeze distance on clutch handle to number 1 so that it's as close as it can be to the handle and that seemed to help about 99% with the false neutral. Made me think when the clutch was further out I was clutching in at an improper time? But lately I've been trying to shift into 2nd at a higher rpm and trying to get out of it into 3rd quicker so as to not worth about it dropping back into neutral. But that sucks because I'd sure love to wind out 2nd fully before shifting to 3rd but i will have the fork checked. I might be saying that wrong might be called a dog leg? Or something having a brain fart. But also i did the route 66 trip from Chicago to Santa Monica Pier in California over a 25 day vacation stopping along the way and it was incredible. The Grand canyon was hard to put into words especially because I've never left Chicago in my 40yrs at that point Since then I've taken my first airplane ride and gone to Mexico and flew to Florida take the kids to Disney. And unfortunately route 66 is not what it was decades ago. It will appear then literally disappear along the way. We ended up just looking for sight attractions and jumping on and off interstate as we went to make it a little easier because you'll be on it then it will just become a frontage road along the interstate then disappear and reappear 3 miles later across town lol. Without GPS someone would definitely get lost lol
@fonz1anddone713 it's a shame to see such an iconic road being left to ruin, hopefully as our generation has the time and money they will find a way to bring it back because it should be a huge tourist attraction. 🤞
3rd gear is where its at on the vtr, I have gone on so many rides and just rolled on and off 3rd gear for miles and miles, the torque accelerates strong between 35 and 70mph and the off throttle engine braking means you rarely need to touch the brakes.
Interesting about the clutch lever adjustment though, maybe a sign of clutch wear but they are generally pretty solid, although there is a known problem where if you throttle up before letting the clutch out fully it will slip and keep slipping until you come off the throttle to let the clutch bite. If you let the clutch out fully before you open the throttle it should be OK 👍
@@wsmv ok. I'm leaving work in an hour... on ride home I'll be more mindful of my in and out throttle with clutch engagement. And see if pushing up with a little more force in 2nd helps
I've owned my storm for getting towards a decade now. Absolutely incredible bikes. Tank range is shockingly bad and without MCCTs the engine is basically a bomb, but with MCCTs and acceptance of range, they're properly loveable bikes that will go forever. The type that most people end up keeping for far longer than the average bike, they don't half pull on your heart strings. Late 90s bikes in general are some of the best biking experiences available but the storm stands out even amongst that crowd. I doubt I'll ever sell mine
You're a hardcore firestorm owner mate, and I can understand why.
I don't ride mine as much as I should and have considered selling it, but everytime I walk into the garage I fall in love with it again.
Stunning bikes, and makes the lack of range almost acceptable 🤣
Mate, get Some Gold Coloured 'Plasti Dip' Spray Cans! You can Paint your Rims, & If you get Sick of it - you can Peel it Back Off without Damaging the Original Paintwork - They Say it Lasts a Few Years, Just Don't Pressure Wash your Your Wheels when Washing your Bike!😁
Ah OK not heard of those before, cheers buddy ill take a look 👍
Lovely bike...
Thanks Garon, she is a bit good 😍 the VTR is a very underrated bike I think, anyone who's never ridden one doesn't know how versatile they are, thanks for watching buddy 👍
The VTR is back baby! Looks absolutely incredible!
Thanks, I'm really pleased with look of the fairing kit 😍👍
I put heli bar risers on mine ages ago and it is comphy for a couple hours, no need for low clips on the thing its just not a race replica like the 916 it was patterned after as the wheelbase rake and trail are identical and the Superhawk handles great for the street and light and stable.
It is an awesome bike, I think I will get bar risers when I get another project vtr 👍
@@wsmv a front end with upside down forks and big radial brakes helps much and can be sourced from other Hondas rear shock is mushy and should be replaced too , in reality you could upgrade one to hold its own on very tight roads and canyons ect with the exit speed from the torque the engine produces and the short wheelbase and fairly light weight .
Great that you`ve kept it, love the understated race rep colours, .
Thanks David, the new looks makes it feel like a new bike, and I just love riding it 🤩👍
The Vtr1000f was one of the best bikes I‘ve ever ridden. Doesn’t matter what rev-range, she’s got power everywhere. After having spoken to people about this I discovered she’s got the biggest carbs ever fitted to a standard motorcycle, 2 x 48mm!!!
Everyone mentioned they’ve got as much thirst as a sailor that hasn’t seen land for at least 6months, which is why I bought the 97 Vfr750F.
Important on fairings of thinner nature would be from protecting them from flex so, ensure time‘s spent having the mountings well rubber-mounted . This would compensate a little by preventing too many forces attacking your fairing.
Owners have also mentioned replacing the Cam-Chain tensioner for a manual version, be religious about that.
Thanks for a luvly review, enjoy and best greetings from Düsseldorf 😉
Guten tag mien freund, (sorry that's pretty much the only German I know 🤦♂️)
The vtr is an outstanding bike, and interestingly the fuel economy can be quite good even with the massive carbs, it just seems thirsty because of the tiny tank capacity.
You may get half the range of a different bike but when you fill up it'll only cost half as much 🤣
All that old skool carb fuelling does smell good though 🤤
You're right about the rev range, leave it in 3rd all day and your sorted.
Thanks for commenting, I really appreciate the support.
Danke shun
@@wsmv cheers for your answer. I‘m actually a London geezer living in Germany. Saw things coming during Thatchers time and decided to leg it!
Used to be a Mechanic turned Despatch rider and, still involved in bikes 😉
🤣🤣 you mean I wasted my only German on someone who isn't German 🤣🤣
Don't blame you mate, I spent 10 years in the forces and once thing I always regretted was never getting to Germany, still haven't but gotta get there on the bike soon 👍
Awesome bikes, I've had 3 so far (all reviewed on my channel if you get the chance) and loved them all! for me the full fairing is the best looking, not sure that stubby can does many favours here, and for me the lower fairing would have looked better Red, but it's certainly an attractive bike there, I'm actually only down the road from you, and have a few friends living in WSM 😁
Thanks buddy, I must admit I love the oval stubbys, and the carbon gives a lovely note.
They truly are great bikes, faultless apart from the tank range. I'm desperate to get back out on it but been manic the last few weeks so not had the chance, praying for sunshine tomorrow 🤞
Stunning, the fairing makes a big difference. She looks like new. I like the wheels as they are, but I think gold could be very nice. And of course you are getting some great weather for riding now. As for not saying the HD is bad... go on lol
🤣🤣 the honda feels very eloquent compared to the HD 🤣
The new fairing looks great. I am sure that sooner or later we will pass one another while riding... but not the day your made this video because I was hiding at the back of my house with all the windows open hoping things would soon cool down. My word it was warm.
🥵🥵 unbearable Neil, I sort of rushed the video a bit because I was baking in my leather jacket.
I enjoyed the drone work because I was stripped off on top of the mendips 🤣🤣
I had a 2001 vtr fire storm absolutely amazing bike I sold it with 52 thousand miles it took it to southern Spain when I moved there and was the perfect bike for the ronda road only problem was the cam chain tensioner went at 26 thousand miles but re timed and new tensioner and boom I was out on the road again 👍
They are brilliant brilliant bikes and will hold their own against any middle class sports tourer today. If the tank range was a bit more it would be perfect in all aspects 👍
Wow! That looks amazing. What a beautiful bike!! It’s a show piece now for sure. Great drone work too!
Thanks Patrick, I am really pleased with the way it looks with the new panels 😎👍
Great bike, I had one for 20 years. I miss it quite a bit.
I miss mine too, so much fun 😢
I had the chance for one but got the TL1000S...chalk and cheese. Makes the VTR feel like an SV650!!
Not when the TL suspension locks and sits you into the trees 🤣🤣
@@wsmvI rode a TL 1000 R and it had maybe 20 ho on the VTR but those bikes were flawed in design and did not inspire confidence, the VTR is so planted at low or high speed .
👍
As you already know I am a fan of Red and Black on a bike! So this gets a big thumbs up from me!!
If you really want my opinion on the wheels...as you said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but...I'm not a fan of gold on a motorcycle.
Unless it's a black and gold color scheme. Other than that, not so much.
Good to see you back on the VTR man!!
Thanks Kode, I'm edging towards black wheel I think, gold just won't tie in with anything else on the bike 👍
It looks good & we all know the best motorcycles come in red. Red does seem to suffer in the sun more though and fades so let us know in a year or 2.
Regarding the gold wheels. Gold & black looks good but I don't think gold and red will look good together.
Good shout mate, I've had the tank given extra lacquer which will hopefully protect it but need to keep an eye on it.
Yeah I'm gonna go with black wheels I think the gold wouldn't go with anything on the bike 👍
I liked it befits, but that's next level. Gold will be good, but I would have black or silver. Love it 😍😜
Thanks ER, I think I'm gonna stick with black but may ask if someone can photoshop gold wheels on the image 👍
Lovely bike, if anyone watching has one and hasn’t changed the cam chain tensioners for manual ones yet , do them ! I thought people were over-reacting but mine broke at low mileage on a pampered bike recently and the engine is no longer economical to repair
What a nightmare mate, I hope you can find a replacement unit to put in.
Mine are done and great advice to anyone else who owns a vtr 👍👍
Go with the gold wheels. Got 98 with black and red Chinese fairings and gold wheels. Looks good in my opinion but I also have 6 spoke wheels off a Cbr instead of the 3 spoke.
Are you able to send me any pictures of your bike so I can take a look.
westonsupermotovlog@gmail.com
I would love to see it 👍
Wow mate love the new colours.... you done a great job! I’d keep black rims with possible gold tape... saw you at bike night wasnt sure if should of said hi haha
Mate I'm gutted, you should have. Would have been awesome to meet you.
Next time definitely 👍
Yeah think ill stick with black but the rim stickers is a good shout 🤔👍
Now that is awesome mate & now away to watch your 2 previous vids that I've missed! 😮👍
You would have thought your muscle memory would be kinder to your wrists though, so highly suspect it's just the HD that's screwed with you! 🤣👍
It's all the vibration from riding twins mate, the wrist takes it all and along with my age I'm definitely feeling it, still not interesting in a ying ying 4 cylinder sewing machine though 😂😂
I love seeing this back out on the road, it certainly does look different, I will admit I miss the black, however I’m so glad you’re happy with it dude 🤘
For the wheels I’d go with black now, I’d of only done gold wheels if the bike was black 🤘
Great vid mate, hope you’re well 🤘
Thanks Grant, I think black is definitely the safest bet, I'll just have to buy another bike with gold wheels 🤣🤣
Looks and sounds amazing!!
They are incredible bikes, I miss it but will have another one, thanks for watching 👍
Looks a great job, definitely doesn't look like a 25 years old bike. Like the race rep look 👍
Thanks, I'm super pleased with how it came out, given the bike a new lease of life 🤩👍
Sp1 Rossi rep nothing wrong with that. Rossi fan here its cool. Black is fitting but gold i think would look better seeing as the calliper is gold you could use that to maybe get a rough idea but yes the darker gold
I'm so torn mate, black is the safe bet but I really want gold wheels 😢
I've got a little while to decide now as I won't strip it until the winter 😎👍
@@wsmv the choice is yours but either way it will look good as the colour combo will work with both black or gold or like a bronze gold
Your toy, your money, your rules, stuff anyone who criticises your choices on your bike! 😀
Looks great mate.
It is weird the different riding positions the different bikes we have and I can relate to it being weird going from an upright bike to a racer crouch. The good thing for me about having the ADV bike and superbike is that now riding the V7 caferacer is easier for me than when I first put the clip-ons and rearsets on it as I have to swing my leg really high to get on the Toe-Rag and squash them really tight on the Gixer :D
The weight on my wrists when I got back on the vtr was so painful, forgotten what the riding position was like 😵💫
But having the choice of two bikes (even older cheaper ones) is brilliant, take the bike that suits my mood. One day I might have to road test a V7 because they are stunning bikes 🤩👍
@@wsmv I love the looks of the new V7 850 but my v7 is mine! :D
😎👍
I live out in the California delta not a breath of wind today just got done doing a ride down the river sitting at home now wondering why I came home:-( LOL
Sounds like a perfect day James, I'm sure in califirnia you'll have many more 😎
Currently just above freezing here 🥶
Bike is looking great!! For the wheels could do a wrap on the wheels with the gold vinyl? See how it looks but I think maybe a sparkle flake gold would make it pop, like a bright tie on a plain shirt? Take care and ride safe mate 😊🙏
I wonder how expensive wrapping a wheel would be?
Something to definitely think about 👍
@@wsmv could order some vinyl and have a go yourself. Chaos causes did it, check out his channel
Excellent job 👍👌
Thanks Ian, I'm really pleased with it 👍
dark gold mate. my vtr is yellow with lite gray.
I'm really nervous about gold, always wanted gild wheels but not sure if it would go with the red/black.
Yellow vtr's are the fastest ones 😁👍
Looks good matey, more importantly though it’s good to hear you like it 👍 Surprised you didn’t go for the Casey Stoner Ducati lol. Come to think of it that had black wheels 🤔
🤣🤣 I would have loved a ducati paint job but I would always be on something pretending to be something else.
I love the suzuka vtr colours and red/black/white is definitely my favourite combo 😎👍
Bought a shoddy 60.000 mile VTR last month to fix up over winter (not much riding to be done here in Norway for the next 5-6 months). I`ve not even ridden it but expecting a fun bike come April
You'll love it John, 60,000 miles is not unheard of on the vtr, its a great engine just check you have manual camchain tensioners fitted as the automatic ones have a habit of failing and causing much damage.
I've been to Norway but only Bergen for a few days and loved it, it was winter and the only driving I did was military vehicles so the snow wasn't too much of a problem.
Coming back next summer and can't wait.
Let me know how you get on with the rebuild 👍
@@wsmv The camchain tensioners is on my to do list for sure. This is more of a rescue operation than a restoration. In my head i`m picuring a "naked VTR".... Rear subframe is all bent out of shape but found another on Ebay. Fairings front and rear, seat cowl, it`s so bad it`s a lost cause and this is a budget build. (We all know how that usually works out but for now atleast i keep telling myself it`s a budget build) I`ve removed one radiator and fitted the other up front with an upgraded fan. Seems to work fine. Not sure what to do with the oil cooler but i`ll figure it out. Previous owner had welded some kind of undertail Ducati 916 looking exhaust from pipes i can only assume he found in his bathroom, so Dominator slipons fittet for now. Sounds great! Making videos is not really my thing but i`ll try to put SOMETHING together before spring. 🙂
@@EVILSPAWN1003 it's a shame you are so far away. I have original exhausts and full fairing clogging up my garage that I would love to give to someone doing a rebuild
@@wsmv ruclips.net/user/shortsuzRpJNNm3Kc
That's stunning, sounds really good 👌
Bike looks great well done.
Thanks bud, it makes it look like a new bike and freshens it up to last another 25 years 🤣🤣
Yeah, that’s lush. I like it a lot 👌🏼
Thanks SB 👍
I have mine in yellow color (much better than your "Valentino" color 😈😄) for 3 years now. I doubt that I will ever sell it. That classic never getting old look (combined with the Yellow color 😈😄) it gives it that specific head turning look. The rest of the bike, the engine, the brakes, the handling...the everything, speak for it self.
It's a shame you want to sell yours...
Hi Anastasija, yeah I think I've changed my mind (again), how can I sell it, I love it too much, and when I get so many replies from people who own them and love them I can understand why.
Of course yellow is the fastest 😎 everybody knows that, I think that's why Valentino has his '46' in yellow 😁👍
@@wsmv It was just a joke about the color. Of course I prefer it in the yellow color, but everyone has their own taste and that should not be discussed 😀
The blue is a gorgeous colour on the vtr but you don't see it very often 🥺
l thought I wanted a Ducati ,but I'd rather three vtr's and money left over! Maybe the gold wheels might be an expensive mistake.
I'm with you mate, decided on the black for the wheels 👍
I always wanted a duration and bought a monster 821 as soon as I could afford one, a house purchase forced the sale and I bought a vtr which is all round a much better bike 😍👍
The gold wheels are like gold earrings on Marilyn Monroe, not necessary and still beautiful, hey.cheers from down under.
Thanks bud, where in Oz are you, I really need to visit there someday
Just a stone's throw from Byron Bay, northern New South Wales. It's rolling green hills and valleys surrounded by rainforest mountains. Winding. roads creeks and little traffic. PS my last bike got turned into a bathroom.
Sounds amazing, proper paradise 😍
🤣 at least with a bathroom you can still dissappear by yourself for a hour 🤣
Bike looks great mine is red with gold wheels they really suit it I also have a red hugger on the back which works nice and Moto CNC bar risers that have nice covers on top looks more finished
I have yo admit the thought of bar risers interests me, really noticed that the weight on my wrists was quite painful after having a break from the vtr.
I did have a carbon hugger but cut it down to just a chain guard to open the back end up, the only major mod I want now is high level end cans but it hard to find link pipes that will match my existing silencers.
I'm still unsure about the gold wheels, worry if the red/black/white scheme might be too much for another colour 🤷♂️
Thanks for watching buddy 😎👍
The VTR looks great in the Cabin Honda colours. I'd leave the wheels black, as I think they suit the colour scheme. However, it is your choice. Coincidently I have gold wheels on my bike 😂
🤣🤣 I think black will be best, I'll just have to buy another bike with gold wheels on 🤣
I got my super hawk today and man I love it but it pretty big and heavy not gonna lie but overall the great is really good looking and fast too
They are amazing bikes and actually well balanced, I have a sportster and I find the vtr really light after Riding that 🤣
Hah, ride some more bikes at 240kg wet its on the lower side of mid weight.
9:32 My gl1500ct is 400+ kg, the st1100 is 350+ kg. And I know there's lighter bikes but not many in the 750- 1000cc bikes
She looks lovely, a job well done mate! As for the wheels I think black looks best, maybe some perforated red rim tape would give them a highlight to finish off.
Thanks David, I think I'm with you with the wheels, going gold is too much of a risk amd could make the bike look a lot worse 👍
I agree mate, gold might be a bit too blingy for her. My bike has black wheels and some rim red rim tape improved them no end. Only a fiver and an hour to do so it was a no brainer for me 😊
I like it!
Not sure if i'd change wheels to gold though, prefer black personally.
Good job mate.
Grumps.
Thanks grumps, yes I will probably stick with black as its a safer bet than adding a 4th colour to the mix 👍
She's a beauty, buddy 👍 So glad you kept her!
Why did you decide to get aa fairing kit rather than fixing or patching the original?
From the video, it looks like a job well done. I'd go with the black wheels.
I'm not a VTR aficionado but I'm glad it's on the channel.
Thanks Noob, it was a much cheaper option to buy it ready made rather than have to repair and spray the damaged fairing, plus I have options now while the vtr is still on the road.
Yeah I think I will stay with black wheels 👍
I have one and I like it a lot ☺️
They are great bikes 🤩👍
Looks fantastic. My first thought before you mentioned wheels was "gold" . Don't know if someone could 'Photoshop' it to see what it might look like? Oh and nice bit of flying 😁
Cheers buddy, I've always wanted gild wheels but not sure if it would look too cheesy on an older bike. If someone could do a good job of photoshopping it it would be awesome.
Dji make it so easy 😎👍
Awesome mate this looks and sounds superb well done... What a gorgeous looking thing. Wheels are always a nightmare to get right.. I see what you mean with the gold wheels but black really suits this scheme.. maybe black with a gold perforated rim sticker.. just a thought. Well done I love it. 👍
Thanks buddy, yeah it's a difficult one to get right, I love the white wheels on your VFR but I don't think I could do that on mine because the single swing arm on yours makes it looks so good (I wonder if a single sided swing arm will fit the vtr 🤔)
🤣🤣
WOW great job WSMV
Thanks Mark 👍
She looks nice see what yer going for there red and black always a good combo gold wheels fer me don't do it black fits with the colour scheme ,gold would add nothin good if she was all black yeh or even all red maybe . The fairing looks good well done on fitting that good job all around job . 👌Pucker !!
Thanks Mal, I'm beginning to think black wheels are the best option, it's the safe option and means I will just have to buy another bike with gold wheels 🤣🤣
@@wsmv Oh yes that's true good thinking 👍😁
Bike looks incredible! I think black wheels suit it, gold would be too many colours!
I think you're right David, I'll just have to buy another bike with gold wheels 🤣
Looks great, I would keep the wheels black, but perhaps that is just me.
Thanks Daz, no not just you mate, I think black is definitely the best option 😎👍
oh, beauty IS in the eye of the beholder, and my eye says she's a beaut!!!!
🤣🤣 thanks Bob 👍
It looks super, Just wondering about the petrol tank. Is it a cover or did you respray it. If it is a cover I assume it will mark the tank, or is this not the case? Also with these fairing kits what kind of work did you do at the body shop?
Hi buddy, it's a tank cover but I fitted some pads inside to protect the tank but it was quite scratches anyway so not too worried.
I had several panels relaquered just to give as much protection as possible 👍
How much to fill tank and how many km .thx
In the UK about £20 and I get roughly 120 miles out of it before the light comes on, hope that helps 👍
Hi mate F/ing AWESOME in Red great vlog ag but don't go with gold wheels, black wheels perfect anyway you take care and ride safe TTFN
Thanks Thumper, I think you're right it's gotta be black wheels 😎👍
Love it, but a few questions if you don't mind
1, did you go for the full kit with the tank cover
2, if you don't mind me asking I've seen the price of these but couldn't work out the import costs, do you mind sharing the import costs.
My VTR is a red one and I've been thinking of doing the wheels gold myself but I think with this kit I would leave them black.
Love you videos keep up the good work
Thanks Paul, and feel free to ask away, if I know the answer I will definitely share it, all about community 👍
Yes went for the full kit including the tank cover, it meant I didn't have to remove the tank to get it sprayed and if I ever want to return it to black I can.
The import costs were £45 which you pay when the parcel reaches parcel force.
However the seller allows you to make an offer and I've been told that of you make an offer they then don't cover the import tax, I'm not 100% whether that's correct bust sounds legit.
If you are going to order I would clarify that before paying, it's OK to get £20 off but not if it'll cost you £45 in tax 😡
But I still think the kit is well worth the money, it doesn't come with the belly fairing, that's separate and I also bought the honda decals myself and had the put on the tank before getting it re lacquered because the tank cover is more likely to get fuel spillages.
I think I'm gonna stick with the black wheels, safe bet and the red/black/white colour scheme may not work with gold 😎👍
Ive always loved these but never owned one. As an older rider now, I was concerned that the bars might be a bit too sporty and you mentioned that it was wrist straining for you. As bad as a full blown sports bike or modest do you think?
Hi Peter, they are knowhere near as bad as most sports bikes, but there can be a lot of weight on your wrists still.
Many people have mentioned that there are bar risers available that make a huge difference but I haven't tried them.
Although the bike will do everything it is still a sports bike really and that riding position does make for exciting runs down twisty sections 😁👍
@wsmv That's kinda what I thought. But looks like fun. Thanks for the reply and info. Cheers.
@peterballauthor always a pleasure buddy, stay safe 👍
You forgot the most important bit. Is it faster now it's red?
100% 🤣🤣
Go Gold Wheels!
Ho Roxy, still undecided, I will probably stick with black but perhaps source a second set of wheels to paint gold and see if it works.
The race bike with this fairing had white wheels but that's a lot of cleaning 🤣🤣
White wheels
I've got a question for you Superhawkers. I have a '98, and I absolutely love everything about the bike, however, the handlebars absolutely kill my hands. It puts so much of my upper body weight on the heels of my hands, its actually painful. There are lots of options for installing different bars, risers, etc, but in order to change the position enough to make them comfortable, the fairing either has to be removed or cut. I really don't want to cut it, as the Honda plastics are no longer made. The other option would be to remove the fairing, but this bike is funky looking as hell without the fairing. Though about polishing everything under the fairing, but I would still have to install another headlight assembly. There really is no easy solution. Do any of you have any thoughts on this subject?
I've been told you xan get get handlebar raisers which sit on the same mounts as the original clip ons but lift it about 1" 1/2, I haven't tried them because it can ruin the lines of the bike but shouldn't need the fairing cut.
These bikes don't look good without fairing, I had mine off to replace the whole set and its not made to be naked.
I do suffer the same problem with wrist and hand pain, which will probably be the reason if I get rid of the vtr.
Thanks for watching, hope you sort something soon 👍
Just dragged my 98 out of the trailer after 15 yrs, got the carbs cleaned and it runs!
The thing I didn't like is the clutch effort - works but seems excessive changed the fluid but no improvement. Any ideas?
The clutches are really heavy after a good ride out my left forearm is in agony, the biggest cause is a stiff slave cylinder and easy to replace but the first thing I would try is lube the clutch lever pivot, after greasing mine it did improve 👍
jus got one of these d0nt like to go slow thoe apart from that its a good bike is bakeing hot ride one of these bikes in town laying over engin fer a 20 year pld bike holds its own
🤣 they are rattly beasts that argue with you when going too slow 👍
Yeah they do hate going slow.. but they love full throttle:-)
I got mine back in March so I had all summer on it I really like the bike also and I've had CBR 1000 RR and I've had CBR 600 Double R a GSXR 600 and a few others sport bikes so I've had a quite a few bikes.. and I have Road a lot of bikes I really like the way this bike delivers its power fun bike all the way around handles great just put a new set of dunlaps on there they are track tires but I ride aggressively I don't have a bad word to say about the vtr1000 great bike.. and for you that are curious my 600 was an 08 the 1000 was a 2010 GSXR 600 was my third bike back in the early '90s I think the bike was like a 92 but yeah I've been riding forever and the VTR 1000 caught me off guard I was surprised I originally bought it cuz I got a good deal but within minutes of riding it I was like damn
🤣🤣 I bought mine because it fitted a very tight budget and didn't really expect too much, how wrong was I 🤣🤣
@@wsmv so ive found out but im likeing it more more every day ride safe dude
Gold wheels??? Nah!!
Hopefully you didn't do that!
Harley BLOWS!
Sticking with the black wheels for now anyway, I think they suit it better.
The Harley sucks, squeezes, bangs and blows 🤣
Very over-dramatised and the rear shock was a favourite mod anyhow.
Thanks for watching 🤣
Keep em black...
Yep I think you're right 👍
You think a firestorm is light and responsive, your Harley must be a brick 🧱😆
Yep, that pretty much says it 🤣🤣
Go black wheels
Yep I think black is the best plan, gold is a bit risky, the other option is white but I'd be cleaning them all the time 🤣🤣
I have a VTR.... All I give a f**k about is the soundtrack!
🤣🤣 they do have an awesome soundtrack 🙉👍
