      Thats your opinion. I like it’s personality and suggest you personalize any way you like.
      Mine has been repainted in a deep blue paint with light blue fine metal sprinkled in. Honda red wheels, gold callipers, Corbin seat with red piping, Two Brothers carbon high mount cans, small LED signals and I re lettered it with red US Super Hawk 996 as I happen to like that name better. To each his own.

    Regarding the top of the forks? A common tuning trick is to raise the forks in the yokes by 5-6mm. Doing this reduces the rake angle a little bit and it makes the handling crisper. I know I'm speculating, but possibly that's what we're seeing here.

      I love the bike, more than enough power for the road and great torque too. I live in the Cotswolds, lovely twisty A and B roads out here, I jhst use 3rd gear and roll on and off the throttle, hardly need to touch the brakes, great fun.

    I looked at buying a 1998 a week ago - good paint, 55k kms, but I got frightened off by the carbs. 46mm x 2 and they are not amenable to being sleeved down. Makes for a thirsty engine 6-7 litres per 100 kms even if ridden moderately. Love v twins but.........

    • @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes
      @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes  Год назад +2

      I honestly have never purchased a bike and even considered the MPG - For me personally (as a casual rider) a big bike like this is for putting a huge grin on your face over a few hours riding, so MPG doesn't come into it. And I wouldn't buy a big V-Twin for commuting anyway, so I just fill it up and roar off into the Sun 😁

    • @donziperk
      @donziperk Год назад

      Can’t worry to much about how thirsty it is. Actually if you keep the throttle hand under control they are fine. Hold on who can do that when it sounds so good to wring it out. Go with fun per litre is high so what the heck burn the fuel up.

      @@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes yea nice iirc they are DSG, I am tempted by the newer bigger Hondas but a gear cam has been my bucket list bike since I was a child hence the 5th gen thing (I'm currently on a KTM 450exc and a CBR 1000f), apparently they like a bit of boost and as I build custom turbo car stuff anyway I might do that if I'm short of power, it all depends how nice the bike is I am a bit of a purist sometimes and all out tuner others so it could go either way haha!

      Yeah I'm happy with the trade.. I probably would have done better selling the dirt bike and then going out and buying one but they don't pop up very often so that's what I had and he was down to trade so I figured it was worth it it's the bike I wanted I always had a thing for the VTR 1000 it really kind of blows me away how hard these bikes pull for a V-Twin I really don't even understand it it just pulls insanely hard I don't even know if minus stock I wonder sometimes mine will come up in second gear pure power wheelie... other one I rode wouldn't do second gear only first so I'm pretty sure mine has been modified I just don't know what he did to it it's got mig pipes on it so I know it's been tuned pretty sure there's more to it than that though it's a quick bike it kind of doesn't make sense to me on how fast it is I also have a CBR 1000'08 of course the CBR is faster but the VTR is funner and in the twisties I'm just as fast VTR just falls into the corners I would almost go to save better than the CBR 1000 but not my 600 that's the best handling bike I've ever had 2008 CBR600RR those things are on Rails but VTR isn't far behind amazes me with those old style of shocks but I guess it's just that low center of gravity with that 90° V-Twin basically laying on the ground hard to find a bike that does fall into the corners like the VTR
