Same - I also saw Sleater Kinney live during what I assume was their tour coinciding with this release, at my city's coolest/most well known venue for bands to play at: First Avenue, which featured in the Prince film, Purple Rain. Back then, even though it was an all ages show - people could smoke indoors there - I came home reeking of a gross campire, lol. Great show though, of course.
You could teach a college course on the guitar interplay on this album. From their debut right up to The Woods, nobody made rock music like SK did. They were untouchable.
Definitely - the Woods itself is just an amazing departure from their prior sound, with the first track: The Fox, being such an amazing opener to that album too. Such a classic now, but for me it instantly was on release.
Peter Granata, curious, how was it? Not the same without Janet. Last time I saw them it was the final tour before the hiatus. Followed these Ladies for almost 10 years. Anytime they were in NY, saw them. Almost 50 when they did The Woods tour. Oldest person at the show. Haha..chatted with a 14 y.o. kids’ Mom. She was early 30’s...they were kicking ass as usual.
@@michaelbrickley2443 Unfortunately I never got to see them with Janet. I toured with a band called Emby Alexander out of Phoenix AZ for a few years and after going up the west coast on a few tours I began watching Portlandia. I was just a big fan of Carrie and heard about the show on an NPR broadcast and thought "no fucking way it's the same Carrie Brownstien"..sure enough haha. But anyway, show was phenomenal! I was front center stage and got to touch hands with Carrie and Corin as well as get a signed vynil and one of Carrie's guitar picks! Very great experience, I hope to see them again very much and I'm a fan for life! :]
@@petergranata6240, well, one thing about Carrie and Corin, they were like twins from different mothers. A couple in the beginning and after that split, they were still two halves of one coin. Like all the great rock partners in playing and writing, a la Keith and Mick...they complete each other. Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
@@michaelbrickley2443 Oh wow - forgot they were a couple at first, but now that you mention it - I remember that. I last saw them live in 1999, I'm guessing in support of this album's release and they certainly had great stage chemistry from what I remember, as a teen trying to be "punk" with spiked hair, lol. I remember Carrie staring at me for a bit cause I was right in front, super into the show. I know it's a three year old comment, so likely you won't see this, but anyway, this track is a perfect opener to this album.
@@JET7C0 Thanks for your comment and the memory. Yes, Start Together was the perfect opener for this ride. The Hot Rock was a bit more introspective compared to the high octane ride of Dig Me Out but it grew on me. It had some great moments and showed a lot of growth as a band. Shalom
If you want me, it's changing If you want, everything's changing If you want, the sky would open up If you want, your eyes could open up I'm a mess I'm the worst But the best That you've heard Come so far, come close together Don't tear apart what we worked for Right or wrong, here we are I wanna know what you are, what you are Baby, don't you leave me, baby, don't you go 'Cause I'll head out the fences, head out the door Baby, don't you leave me, baby, don't you go 'Cause I'll roll with the punches, roll out the door I don't know What you want But I got What you Baby, don't you leave me, baby, don't you go 'Cause I'll head out the fences, head out the door Baby, don't you leave me, baby, don't you go 'Cause I'll roll with the punches, roll out the door
This will ALWAYS be my absolute favorite album by them!! Love these ladies. ♥️
This album is dear to my heart.

@@JET7C0 yeah! That was back in the day! Lol. I didn’t discover SK and this album until well after it came out.

Perfect arrangement.....its all perfect
One of the best bands ever!!!!!!
If you want me, it's changing
If you want, everything's changing
If you want, the sky would open up
If you want, your eyes could open up
I'm a mess
I'm the worst
But the best
That you've heard
Come so far, come close together
Don't tear apart what we worked for
Right or wrong, here we are
I wanna know what you are, what you are
Baby, don't you leave me, baby, don't you go
'Cause I'll head out the fences, head out the door
Baby, don't you leave me, baby, don't you go
'Cause I'll roll with the punches, roll out the door
I don't know
What you want
But I got
What you
Baby, don't you leave me, baby, don't you go
'Cause I'll head out the fences, head out the door
Baby, don't you leave me, baby, don't you go
'Cause I'll roll with the punches, roll out the door
Great song from a great album by a great band
This album is fucking amazing
