This was the first "irregularly" sized 1/6 figure Hot Toys made. Adding this dude to the collection gave everything else such depth and variety. This made me wish harder for figures like the Hulk, Juggernaut and Colossus etc. He STILL looks great!
Been a fan of Avatar since I was a kid when I watched it in theaters with my dad. Pleasantly surprised to see you review a figure of Jake himself. Especially after I just watched Way of the Water.
Perfect timing after the tease of an updated version! Lets hope the new version has UVA paint like the great job NECA did on their Way of Water line. Also praying for a Neytiri 🙏🏼
I had this figure around 7 years ago and lost him (long story). I thought he was great except for the bitsy pieces that kept falling off of his outfit and I never could figure out where they fell off. I remember being very impressed by that base and its glowy parts. I had him displayed in a simple museum pose like yours. I bought him a second time this past summer but haven't really unboxed this newish one completely. He's so tall it is a challenge to find a display place for him.
@@davida6146 there was a fire in my apartment building and I lost almost everything. I was able to recover four of my Hot Toys afterwards (but Starlord lost his head) from the building wreckage.
It's going to be extremely disappointing if they make Jake alone, again... they already teased him and the body and sculpt look the same, but I'm hoping for at least one more figure, either Kiri or Neytiri would do it for me
I remember this one sitting for while, a lot of people passed on it and I seen a few for less than $200 - Because it wasn’t Neytiri I passed on him which was a huge mistake! Glad they’re making a new one!
@@JustinsCollection this warrior version of Jake is my favorite version of him in the movies. Even in the 2009 movie, the War jewelry set was so stunning and eye catching
Can confirm it’s prone to shoulder socket breakage. The good news is the way it breaks makes it easy to super glue without losing movement. I just keep him posed simply so I’m not worried about it.
If you have some Alien, Predator or perhaps other SCI-FI alien figures, this might fit in nicely with the collection. Very impressive for over 10 years ago. Justin, do you think we might see these rereleased due to the success of Avatar 2? Thanks for the "retro" review!
Avatar was and still is a legendary movie that made so many memories and nothing is ever going to change that because the older it gets the better it will become.
Much prefer beautifully sculpted joints that will last indefinitely than a rubber overlay that I will constantly fret over. Great review. Really hope a Neytiri is announced
Jake looks spot on! Already watched 'The way of water' twice in IMAX 3D and it was visually stunning! The storyline, the CGI, the graphics, dialogues and VFX were commendable and brilliantly executed. What do you say, Justin?
I watched it in standard, I usually can’t keep my food down watching 3D but it was still a DAMN good movie, the figurine does look quite movie accurate
Thank you so much for this review, Justin. This is such an awesome figure. I really hope they go as seamless as possible with the new Na'vi figures. I'm bummed that their new IG post teasing Way of Water figures shows exposed elbow joints.
Thanks again for the vid. Just as to not being able to scan to make the head sculpt though, they wouldn't even need to, because they could go straight from the cg data (as you said, all CGI) and cut out the scanning in the first place! Hell Hasbro started rapid prototyping/3d printing from data nearly 25 years ago with the Episode One 3 3/4 figs! But it's not always easy to get that data (even when you work on movies) so HT probably went the traditional route with these. Not like HT doesn't have a raft of great sculptors after all, both traditional and digital... interestingly the head sculpt on the new one is more accurate. But they kept the jointed approach.
Hi Justin! How are you? Hope all is well. I wasn’t excited about this figure initially because as I’ve said before, the main reason I went to see Avatar1 is because Sam Worthington was in it and I absolutely adore him. Ironically he becomes a navii so he doesn’t look the same. Then I saw Avatar2 and started to like the character even more. So now I’m intrigued by the character Jake and the whole family. I think this is a great figure, he’s so close to what the character, that is essentially a cgi, looks like. Regardless of the seams and joints not being hidden, it’s still an ambitious attempt at making a challenging figure filled with detail and texture. It’s worth getting, I hope they make more figures from both movies. Thanks for the video 😊💎
I think it's cool that you are going down the line and getting old Hot toy figures. The new ones are well done when it comes to the paint work and tailoring but a lot of the old ones are no slouch. I feel like 10 years ago is when they really upped the quality. Crazy to think it cost $314.99 usd at the time. Right now, Ahsoka costs about that much and doesn't nearly come with the amount of accessories that figure has not to mention it's size.
I know I’m really late but I’m getting equipment for my birthday ESPECIALLY a hot toy because you have inspired me/ influenced me to do what you are doing now thank you you might not remember me though I’m the one whose always commenting on your videos and doing requests but thank you very much for being a inspiration to my life🤗

I saw this guy for sale at 2012 Comic Con and almost pulled the trigger but it was the size that stopped me, the thought of having to transport it back home was too much. It certainly has some serious shelf presence, sad they never made a Neytiri to go with him, maybe this time around?
try in the next you get Mcfarlane especially for Avatar 2, but get all the characters and animals complete series, the price might be equal for 1-2 hot toys. Just for fun the collection of variations. for the types of animals it is quite interesting for me. Btw, i purchased them all, so cheap 😂
I wish the figures from the new movie had double jointed elbows, especially Neytiri. Any figure with a bow and arrow needs double jointed elbows and butterfly joints in the shoulders
Hello :) not related to this review but just wanted to ask you about your experiences collecting 1/6 figures? I've been a 1/12 collector for years so this is a big change (i'm mostly worried about flaking and all) And do you recommend buying older releases with incomplete accessories? I saw a certain sith selling for cheap but he doesn't come with his lightsabers

I have limited space to display so it works better for me.
I’ve heard you mention a few times that toys that are a few years old and still boxed run the risk of being damaged and degraded. Does that happen when you buy them new and display them? Do they just naturally degrade over time?? Hardly seems worth it if that’s the case.
@@JustinsCollection - I have toys that are 30/40 years plus and still going strong.
