The Hydra Stopper armor puts my mind on the military from Fallout 4. The armor looks like another Power Armor that they didn't put in the game. It has that white star that looks pretty much identical to the game as well. Plus, that green pretty much the reasons. It simply gives me Fallout 4 vibes.
Hydra Stomper is based on the aesthetic of the US military of 1939-1960 although specifically the Lee tanks and early Shermans. Fallout 4 is based on the 50's and 60's. Both draw from the same pool of WW2/Early Cold War inspiration. Stomper was designed by the guy who did Iron Giant, which I believe has been one of the many points of inspiration for Fallout.
The WW2 aesthetic might be the greatest aspect of this "figure" design. I also like how the Hydra Stomper gives me Iron Giant vibes blended with the Mark 1 from Iron Man 1. One of the great romances in the MCU was Steve and Peggy, thankfully they gave us a version of this... as if destiny can't keep them apart. Thanks for the review.
Glad I watched this! I was just about to purchase then I thought I'd watch your review first. You saved me 700 bucks! shame about those legs. Hot Toys dropped the ball IMO. Should have made the HS posable.
The Hydra Stomper almost seems like a glorified display stand for Steve Rogers and Captain Carter, but it does look awesome. Great review as always, Justin!
Animated Steve Rogers collects the hands of fallen Nazi officers as war trophies. That's his thing. The movie Steve Rogers sheds a tear for every living soul he has to take. That's because war is hell on everyone.
I can't wait for this figure. I ordered it primarily for smol Steve, he's adorable. It's a shame they didn't do a What if... Bucky as well, either the 40's one or the modern one. I would love to display them together, I really like the animated look.
You're absolutely right about the power pose thing. For this price and without any prominent billing of being a limited Statue this is a bit dirty and cheap by hot toys, something that's become quite frequent in the past year. Going to be a hard pass from me. I used to buy most big HT release but lately their worse quality and much higher prices have made it easy to spare my wallet
The little piece on the side of the arm that has a hole in it looks like to me extra track armour from tank A very common for tankers to do at the time so that would make sense
Justin HELP!! What body are they using for Steve? What 1/6 scale body on the market would be closest too comparison? I just got the head sculpt for cheap and wanted to kit bash.
I would love to see Hot Toys do the Sakaar Iron Man, the really colorful bombastic Hulkbuster Iron Man from the season 1 finale, maybe when seasons 2 and 3 come out
Thanks for another great review Justin! Personally, I can forgive the non-posable legs, for the sake of balance/stability when standing on the shelf, or posed on the flight stand. What actually bugs me is the “satiny” finish of the paint. It picks up too much light and makes the figure looks cheap and plastic. I wish Hot Toys had given us a nice, gritty “matte” finish in that same color. It would have added more weight and realism to the figure. Still, a lot to love about the figure…. The frosted eyes and reactor, the flying stand, the accessibility of the electronic features… I’m hoping the price reduces in the next year or two.
I was waiting for this review. I don't mind that the legs are power pose. That will help me from struggling to find balance with it and the figures I'm going to pair with it.
16:18 why does it look like these lengths aren't correct, I mean when Steve got the super soldier serum he grew significantly, would captain Carter not be a big bigger or Steve a bit smaller?? Or do I miss something ?
I really need a Big guy and Rusty the boy robot like this I think it can pass with a custom paint app and maybe a 3D printed head for the Hydra Stumper and the Steve Rogers head
TY as always for the great review videos. I would have never know it's a power pose without your video. I may reconsider this purchase since the set is $700 after taxes. I appreciate you and your time as always.
If Steve’s legs went into the legs of the stomper then I would absolutely understand about the legs but the fact that that’s not the case is a wasted opportunity. They really had no reason to not put in articulation there
Hi Justin, I do feel HT's has been cutting a few corners for a while to the detriment of the consumer! The legs should be able to move and bad design flaw with closing of the canopy! Nice set, but given the price, should have been better!
I had to re-read the description on the Stomper when it was announced and I was positive that it was going to be the same Power pose figure; it's the reason I lost interest immediately. At the time, I thought the reason for it was so that Steve's legs can go into the cavity of the hollow mold of the legs; similar to hulkbuster without having to pay for the mechanics of that figure. Doubly disappointing how Steve is basically "refrigerated" into that torso. It's also funny that I customized the Hasbro Stomper to have an opening cockpit and hollowed the torso and it ended up exactly looking as the Hot Toys version inside. If I see the set for $300, I might pick it up. Glad to hear your voice seems back to normal.
@@JustinsCollection Oh, sorry to hear about the progress of your voice. I thought since it's been a week? since you mentioned it. Hope it heals better soon.
Not to ruin the party, but I bought the Marvel Legends version and it's loaded with articulation. Of course it's $50 for a smaller figure, sure, but I really like it.
Do Steve's legs go down into the Stompers legs when you insert him? From watching your excellent video, I got the idea that the Stompers legs are stationery to allow Steve get inside without removing his legs.
Not alot of people didnt like the what if ep one at first i didnt like it then i got into it btw justin what do you do the figures boxes when your done with the reviews
A Nazi Spy attached the Laboratory before Steve could use it so Carter used the Macchine instead and became Captain Carter Because they couldn't present a Non American Woman (Carter is from England/United Kindom) as America Supersoldier, they asked Howard Stark to make an Armor (using the Cosmic Cube as a Power Source) Ps: In the Comic that probably inspired (or that at least has a similar Iron Man Steve's Concept in) this What if...? (What if...? Peter Parker became The Hulk) The Scientist died before he could create a Super Soldier and there's no Captain (nor Steve nor Carter)
Man. Lots of cool features going on, I would buy this if I had the money. (Still can only afford legends) the legs aren’t a big deal to me. But everyone is different
I’ve noticed this too. Only thing I can think of, is that I am from Uk. And the company Justin shares in the link, is based in Australia? So… Maybe that’s why the price hikes up so much? It’s odd, as I tried to order a, Rorschach aka “Herman” by SooSoo toys, and it was advertised as roughly £190. But when I got to the pay point suddenly the final bill shot upto, 1950…. No explanation or anything. I thought I had been hacked or it was it was a con. So I came to the conclusion that maybe it’s a online company based in Australia… I ended up going to eBay to buy the “Herman” and it was £250, with shipping. Only explanation I can think of.
It probably falls over when the legs move I have the marvel legend one and all they do is fall over if I ever get the money to get the hot toys one I will Kevin GI Joe and stuff
I certainly made the mistake of thinking the Stomper was fully articulated, should have paid attention to his model designation on the solo release. I hope someone comes up with a way to modify the legs. Otherwise he's a great release. I hope a 3rd party company makes a Vita-Ray chamber to pop this skinny Steve into
ultrons infinity stones should never have worked throughout the multiverse especially as they even told you why in one episode ! duuuh Marvel duuh ! there universe specific not multiverse specific , right ? But moaning aside and regarding the ironman figure . i love it , it looks great
I was super psyched to get the Hydro Stomper in the mail along with the Steve Rogers figure and was super bummed when I opened it as the hatch assembly looks like crap on the figure they did a terrible job with the hatch assembly and fit. Very disappointing for the amount of money spent on this figure!

We need a bunch more What If figures!
I've been looking forward to getting this set. I love that we get a skinny Steve. So many possibilities for posing with Cap. Carter.

Damn all thats missing is leg articulatation and its perfect
For real

Great video and excellent figure/set, I preordered just the armor, I want to place it with a Tony's Workshop full diorama
Thank you!
I do find it funny how they provide a flying base but the leg pose doesn’t fit a flying pose lol
Legit
Justin, how do you maintain your figures that have that ever so dreadful pleather? If at all. I've never had figures with them, so now I'm curious.
My climate is pretty stable so I don’t do anything really
Now I want a ww2 Howard stark

The little piece on the side of the arm that has a hole in it looks like to me extra track armour from tank A very common for tankers to do at the time so that would make sense

Yeah, I think the issue is the two pack is sold as a "Figure set" while the lone Hydra stomper is sold as a Power Pose.

never thought they would makes this another surprise

The part on his one arm with a pin missing is on purpose I believe. The part is a piece of tank track.

what was the point of the legs not moving if his legs don't go into the stomper's?
No idea, cheapness on their part
Love this Justin hot toys made amazing attention to deatil

why not seeing Steve Rogers had be the hydra men and like to seeing the light swords and big guns too,
Sorry?
I love the way this armor looks and the fact that Howard (Not Tony) managed to build an Early Iron Man (Warmachine) Suit

@@JustinsCollectionim kinda sad bout the articulation in the legs it could’ve been better
Awesome so awesome 👏🏼 one of my favorite figures! I can’t wait to get them. Cool review Justin 👍🏻
Noice!
The left arm has tank treed on it as it was often used as extra armor.
Ok!
Great unboxing like always. You should invest in a polarized lens filter to cut those glare reflections from your softbox.
Not a bad idea!
Hey Justin, love the channel and it really got me onto figure collecting

Hi Justine! Nice review! Question though, how do you get early access to new HT figures?

No, I showed you in the video. You have him cross legged in the suit so the legs are separate.
Just a thought. Since this year marks 40 years since the release of Thriller, would you ever review the Hot Toys Michael Jackson (Thriller edition)?
Maybe!
I was really hoping you were gonna put Captain America next to Steve so we could see the difference in size, but still a great review as always

really cool
