Hey! Any friend of that sweet, sweet guy, the Car Pervert himself is a friend of mine (ok, maybe a slight exaggeration, but certainly any friend of Jonny will be looked upon very favourably). This car is the absolute epitome of a restomod - and what a looker! I've always been a fan of a 3½ P6 and this is brilliant!
Brilliant idea to use 3M panel bond for the roof seal. All in all, a lot less invasive than welding, and not far removed from the Estoura's roof extension to begin with. I'm not sure it's as removable as suggested - it's arguably stronger than welding - but nevertheless, a smart way to do it. Lovely implementation of the Landy EFI system too. Always surprises me how few cars have this mod, even though it makes them that much better as a regular cruiser. It's not _that_ much more wiring, and the P6's tank isn't as hard as others to modify for an in-tank pump and sump.
Nice P6 estate, sounds good, love the Rover V8 burble. Looks like you had a good drive, I know that road from Wern towards New Brighton and going up Minera mountain to Worlds End hope you had a good time in the County of Wrexham, this is about 4 mile away from me great video
@RichardMcLaren estate is not used in Australia.... a cortina estate was not a thing here, even in advertising.... it's sedan or wagon. I understand 'estate' is used in other places.
I remember in Autumn 1963 when the P6 came out it was described as the worlds only four door two seater. I think this explains why an official estate version was never made.
Im 53 passed my test twice!!! First time when i was 18 Your missing out on a lot of enjoyment If you're car mad you gotta sort your driving licence out The longer you leave The more you're missing out I know now its complicated And not cheap In time it might get more expensive and more complicated The longer you leave it
Very true. The driving test in Britain is hard and they never make it any easier or cheaper. I rode motorbikes up until 1996. I never had a car licence as I never had a family etc. I felt no need for one. But as soon as I heard they were bringing out a written test, so you would have to do TWO tests to get your licence, in 1995 I started learning to drive. In 1996 I sat my test just 6 weeks before the written test became law. I passed. I really would not have started driving had they not brought in that written test. I wasn’t bothered about the test itself. I was riding on the road already anyway. I just felt that it was just another way to screw the motorist. So I got through my test just in time. 👍
I took a Cat C test last year as the 7.5 T on my legacy car licence was not enough for my needs, 40 odd years since my car test and yes the theory and hazard perception are entertaining but not scary. Erasing probably millions of miles of bad habits was maybe harder !
I am sick of seeing Driving license posts In Classic Britain videos If you can't hack his decisions Even if they're in error It would be better not to comment Because this isn't the point of the video And he'll find out soon enough without help
Always loved this car. It was the same colour as my Estourer in Almond. They look better in black or very dark colours though. She sounds good with the uprated engine. Not sure auction is the way to go with selling but it would be nice to know or see it being sold if you can film it Aron. You should have filmed the police jam sandwich in the background too.
Wow, you seem to have owned so many cars for a person who cannot legally drive without 'L' plates. Hope this will be remedied as your new years resolution
I had an 'L' reg, 3500s way back when. My first car. I'm sure it was British racing green with quite a pale beige leather interior. Loved it. 5 star petrol
I really don’t like the looks of the estate but this is truly a lovely example. Although I appreciate original cars, the mods on this one have been discreetly and tastefully done and from the outside you would not know until you heard the engine. The wheels actually suit it too, although I think I still prefer the look of the originals but presumably the SD1 wheels give a more suitable range of tyres to choose from and that is probably vital considering the extra grunt.
OOR number plate that would make a Portsmouth registered from New car (possibly wadham stringer supplied) And im from Portsmouth Also spotted the ambulance BK number plate both from Portsmouth
This is the second one of your vids (the first being the P6 police car) where you’ve referred to “putting photos up now in the video”, but no photos have appeared!!
How many big engine cars/Vans have you owned that you can't drive Even if you pass your driving test today You wouldn't get insured on anything bigger than a 1.4 litre car?
@classic_britain but it was your car, And you couldn't drive it then and can't drive it now And once you've passed your test You won't be able to get insurance or be able to afford it
Car insurance for a new driver over 30 is going to be 1500 to 1800 on any car engine size .. 😊 Absolute rubbish saying can't get a car over 1.4ltr that's not how insurance works.. I know I work with car insurance
Hey Andy i like what you've done with this survivor it's a cool usable classic, i also like Sheldon's mad enthusiasm for car's but don't understand why he's not got a license yet seems crazy not wanting to drive them, good video of a car I never knew existed
@classic_britain FAR FAR FAR more than you do. I think 55 years working on classics and owning and cherishing many even Rovers, Jags, Rolls Royce MGs and many more shows I do. If you can accept proper criticism then it shows you haven't a clue.
Definitely quirky looking …. Awkward but striking. Quite a thing in the 60s and 70s to make bespoke estates out of saloons. Aston Martin had them and of course Crayford did them for Fords at an eye-watering cost of 30% plus extra.
@@classic_britain Yes, and I'm glad you didn't take it personally sir. My stepfather had a 200TC P6 and it was a decent car, obviously quite a technological step forward when it was released. Well the handbook even on a 2000 supposedly told you what tyre pressure to use for sustained cruising over 100mph.
