    • @Yesquire0
      @Yesquire0 4 месяца назад

i'll agree that most Refs will call that infraction on the defense, but, the rule requires an instant flinch by the offensive guy. These days the play always looks like the O-line guy sees the D-line guy move, thinks about it for a second, then decides "If I move now, that will get us five yards". If he has to think about it, the flag should be thrown against the offense. That makes it a bit of a subjective call, but I don't think the Ref got it wrong last night.

Hard to not love the Lions when a guy like Dan Campbell is their "chief of staff".
Even in his first season, in which the team had serious limitations, you could see the players willing to do anything for him, even when they knew that a win was likely to not happen. Because he throws his face for his players too.
Dan might not have the accolades yet, or even the winning record, but he looks (in mannerisms and physically even) like two of the greats this league had, Bill Cowher and Dick Vermeil.
He is hard and hotheaded in the sideline like Cowher and leave his heart in the headset/play chart like Vermeil.
The relationship with the front office cannot be better, they bought his idea of a culture and it's working incredibly so far.
The Lions have lost for too long as well. In every way, manner and result conceivable.

Die hard Rams fan for 55+ years. Great game. Knew it was gonna be close. I was rooting for the Lions all year...especially when the Rams were crapping the bed early in the season and I thought they had no chance. Rams go on a run, beat the Niners last game of the season to get the 6th seed make the playoffs and have to play the Lions. Kinda a win/win for me.
Obviously I was rooting for the Rams and wanted them to win. Rams D wasn't too good in the first half...great in the second half. Rams offense moved the ball, but did not score TD's in the red zone when it counts. Detroit scored 3 TD's in the red zone while their D kept the Rams out of the end zone when it counted. That was the bottom line. Not any no call or stupid penalties.
Yes...Puka got held that last play but the refs would never call that at that point in time. No way. Heck, the way the refereeing is now, they might not have even seen it. That is how poor of a job these refs are going these days. NFL needs younger, full time refs. But that's another story.
If you told me in October the Rams would be in a playoff game against the Lions, down by 1 point with the ball late in the 4th quarter with a chance to win the game, I would have taken that all day long. Go Lions !

I am so very happy for the Lions right now! It has been such a long time coming. And I say that as a lifelong Packers fan who happens to be living in Kansas City. No team is entitled to victory and success, but when a team like the Detroit Lions finally turns it around, gets it right, and looks like they could actually make it to the Super Bowl…You have to just grin and clap and cheer them on. I grew up hating the Bears and the Vikings, But I could never quite get that much anger aimed at the Lions…. Wouldn’t it be crazy if the NFC championship was Packers versus Lions?

I'm a Pats fan who was rooting for the Lions and nearly lost my mind when the refs called "offsides" against the Lions. All I could think of was the robbery the Lions suffered by the refs against the Cowboys.
Jared Goff is getting tougher mentally and it shows. Credit the head coach for pushing his QB, and getting Goff to deal with the pressure by putting the ball in his hand at every opportunity.

I feel like in all of the sports commentary I am listening to today I am not hearing enough praise for Jared Goff. Jared was traded to the Lions a few years ago to basically replace Matt in NFL purgatory/ 🔥🤬 but instead of dying Jared excelled . Even this clip seem to discuss other things & less praise of Jared accomplishment. I am an 🦅 fan & if we crash & burn tonight I am rooting for the Lions.

Been a fan since 1975. This is tremendous. Talking about the non penalty with Puka. How about the non neutral zone infraction by the Rams that made Decker jump in the first jalf that ended the Lions drive? That could have been a touchdown drive, or at least a field goal by the Lions.

Right after the big trade, the majority of wag opinions were to the effect that the Lions really didn't want Goff but had to take his contract in order to make the trade work. Goff was seen as not only garbage, but expensive garbage the Lions might have to pay somebody to take down to the curb. Then some of the coaches, after talking to Goff and seeing him perform on the field began saying, much to the surprise of Lions' fans, that Goff was actuallly a very good QB, and that the Lions didn't need to draft some hot shot who would be mainly lost for a couple of years as a starting QB. It took a while for Goff to show his stuff. He confesses now that his confidence was shredded by McVay out in Los Angeles, and his psyche had to be rebuilt by his coaches and teammates in Detroit. He is, in fact, and has demonstrated now for 1.5 seasons, that he is a legit NFL QB in the prime of his career. We are lucky to have him leading the Lions and happy to pay his salary.

Stafford was very good but Goff was better in this game. That was the ultimate difference. Stafford was being pressured heavily while Goff had some time to throw in the first half. I give Stafford credit for keeping them in it in the first half and making it a game in the end but it wasn't enough.

I couldn't help but think that this kid, A) is having the best week of his life, and B) the kid has no idea how massive this is, because he hasn't been alive to see how bad it has been.
I wondered if you had seen this photo yet too, and if you had thoughts of your own!

As far as holding Puka, I seem to recall a “false start” in the first half called against the Lions when it was actually the Rams who jumped first. That thwarted their scoring drive which they were rolling over the Rams at that point. So there’s enough crappy or missed calls to go around.

I attended all those games in the first half of the year when the Atlanta Braves were dead last and hadn't been a good team in years.
