Well, I will give you my 1st hand experience, because I am Russian myself. A few days after the collapse of the Soviet Union, it was weird. To see the red banner replaced by the republic flag. But, after a year or so, when this video was recorded, everyone got used to it. (Edit, not very much detail, as it happened almost 30 years ago now.)
I remember watching this video back in early 2019. I came back today because I remembered it, and for some reason, this brings back memories. I don’t know why, but it made me feel really happy. Thank you for uploading this.
An anthem from a difficult time, but a time when people could still have hope for the future. Look where they are now... And with that reheated Soviet melody. I think that the 1991-2000 anthem has a kind of dignity that the current one lacks.
Me and my cronies love shelling the parliamentary building, significantly dropping the life expentancy, making life in our country objectively worse for everyday people, and becoming rich off the backs of people who have died as a result of the decisions of us and the ones the Americans sent! It's just great for us!
In the Soviet union wasn't better, the economy was allready collapsing since Breznev Times, and got worse with Gorbatchev, who was trying to improve a stagnated economy but instead it got worse. Yeltsin allready inherited a difficult situation, thats why USSR fall.

And poverty in the 90s was caused mainly by the consequences of the disastrous Soviet experiment with a planned economy, and it began even before the collapse of the USSR.

The collapse of the USSR didn't happen overnight. It was a slow process and everyone knew the inevitable was coming.
