This is perfect. I have avoided making drawers because it looks too hard. I'll stack 2 for desktop cabinet for crafting tools. Mine will be 4" high though. Thank you for this!
i just made my floating side tables. i also just watched the floating bed the only thing differently i painted a woodlen scene with bigfoot in the background. lol thanks!
A little tip I learned to stop the Brad nail from coming out the side was to turn the gun the right way. The nails are designed to only bend a certain way
Great video. I am building something similar, so looking for inspiration. Some tips I have come across. When attaching the drawer fronts, use the hardware holes (remove the handle) to temporarily screw the front to the box. Then open the draw, screw in from the back of the box, and then reattach handle. That does mean you will have to have the hardware screws visible inside the drawer. I guess you could glue the front on, use the hardware screw holes as temporary fixing. I'm also thinking about routing out the underside of the outer box top to embed a wireless charger into the top, so a mobile device can just be placed on the night stand and will charge.
Nice work. A trick for shims- instead of playing cards, laminate samples from the box stores come in handy. I'm totally stealing these floating nightstands.
To attach the drawers to the guides, you should be able to keep them pushed all the way in and then put the drawer box in and push it back until it locks in place, that way you don’t have to pull the guides out and set the drawer box on top and lay underneath to click them in. Thought maybe that would help make things easier down the road for future projects
you scared the shit out of me with the red and blue bots from 10:21 since i have a dead pixel in a courner of my monitor and i thought is just died 😭,awesome video too.
Thank you! I don't have plans, but the drawer outer dimensions are 16.5" wide by 11" deep. The bottom panel is 15.5" wide and 10" deep. Height of the box is 6" Hope that helps!
Loe your work man Very detailed and well explained. I loved the idea of the playing cards. I need to make some fir my newly renovated bedroom. I hope and pray they come out as nice a yours Greetings from LA
I didn’t use any brackets. I just screwed through the back of the night stand directly into studs or drywall anchors and it is plenty strong. Hope that helps!
The outer dimensions of the drawer are 18"x6" and I used 3/4" MDF so the drawer front opening is 16.5"x4.5". I then sized it down an 1/8" so it was 16 3/8" x 4 3/8". Hope that makes sense!
why not mark on the drywall where the draw is going, remove the drywall and install some deadwood, put drywall back now you have solid wood to screw the nightstands to.
This is cedar that we reused from our kitchen demo. You won’t be able to find it in stores. Some of the big box stores sell legitimate reclaimed barn wood online though. It can be quite pricey however
Hey man great project! I'm building a set with my son. Him and his lady apparently found this video and wants me to help him build. I read down in the comments the inner drawer boxes are 17x10. So would it be correct to assume you cut the bottom planks at 16x9 ? Appreciate it.
Thank you and sorry for the delayed response! I have actually updated the design. The drawer outer dimensions are 16.5" wide by 11" deep. Therefore, the bottom panel is 15.5" wide and 10" deep. Hope that helps!
Good question! The outer box is 18" wide, 6" tall, and 12" deep. You adjust these dimensions to suit your space if needed. The inside box dimensions will depend on the type of drawer slides you are using but I made mine 1" shorter in every dimension. So it came out to 17" wide, 4" tall, and 11" deep. Hope that helps!
@@GoldenKeyDesign It sure did help, I kind of liked the slides you used although their reviews are not great, but they should work for what need them for. Thanks!
@@GoldenKeyDesign I wonder, if you sandwich some acrylic in between your 45s with the light source inside the drawer behind the acrylic if that would be enough radiant cascading light to see what’s on top of the drawers at night as well as inside. Getting two birds stoned at once. Just a thought I figured I’d share, love the details you put into your work, you’re inspiring. As a true complete beginner, I’ve never worked with wood, my background is in racing composites and paint, so this is a new venture for me. But made easier by the help of your videos, so thank you my friend
Thank you! I used a standard Kilz 2 primer and an interior eggshell paint in Limousine Black. The drawer front is actually leftover wood from the demolition of the kitchen. I believe it is cedar but has a lot of weathering/patina. Hope that helps!
There's nothing wrong with what you did, but I like to attach draw fronts a little differently. I like to find my handle position, like you did, drill the holes for it, align the front (like you did with cards or whatever, doesn't matter as long as it's aligned) then screw the front to the drawer box from the front through the holes I made for the pull. Then open the drawer, screw it in from the back, then remove the initial screws and install the handle. I don't like have the double sided tape in between. Maybe I'm just being anal. Also, I feel like it's more accurate and secure when installing the screws from the back. Anyway, just thought I'd share.
The playing cards as a measuring device is brilliant.
It makes installing the drawer front so much easier!
Came for the diy floating nightstands but loving Olive 🥰
She's the real star of the show!

Thank you! finally an actually "easy" and simplified floating drawer. Perfect for a begginer.
Thank you 😊 Glad it was helpful!
So clever! I’m glad your channel showed up as recommended.

Nice job 👍
Check out using a French cleat with a nailer at the bottom of the box for floating projects. Easier and stronger in my opinion
Great idea!
Love the floating nightstands. I like how you used the reclaimed wood for the drawer fronts to match the head board. Well done!
Glad you liked it!
@@GoldenKeyDesign is there donloadable free plans for this??

There’s gotta be a better way to install them drawers, beautiful result!
Again brother, outstanding. 'Nuff said.
Appreciate it, thanks!
Good job buddy very nice DIY installation of drawer very smooth slide in and out...
Thank you, appreciate it!
I’m obsessed omgggg
Thank you so much!
I will try these pretty soon
Let me know how it turns out!
Good job!
Thanks!
Am I the only one who thought the dog looking outside was super cute before he shows some love to his human?! 🤗
She's the cutest!!
I think you put more screws into those small drawers than i put in my cabinets lol
They look incredible though!
you scared the shit out of me with the red and blue bots from 10:21 since i have a dead pixel in a courner of my monitor and i thought is just died 😭,awesome video too.
Haha! Yeah, my camera was on it's last legs - I've since upgraded
cute Olive :)
Absolutely amazing, one question, would you happen to have the plans available for measurements, cuts and such?

What brackets did you install on the back of the drawer in order to mount it? I must be missing something from your video
I didn’t use any brackets. I just screwed through the back of the night stand directly into studs or drywall anchors and it is plenty strong. Hope that helps!
Those draws are awesome can you tell me the Dimensions of your enter draws
Thank you! The exterior of the drawers are 18" wide, 12" deep, and 6" tall. The drawer itself is 17" wide, 10" deep, and 4" tall. Hope that helps!
Lol! You didn't clap much this video. I guess some didn't like it the last time, but that's your style!
Haha! I have received so many comments on how much people hate my clapping. Had to limit it a bit 😂
Nice Work‼️✅
So Nice & Gorgeous
Thank you!
Absolutely Brilliant, missed the 👏
Thank you! I try to include the clap here and there in my new videos haha
Nice job, love the color can you tell me where you got the outlet items, cover with gold hardware and light switch? thanks
Thank you! The outlet and switch are from Buster + Punch. They are a bit pricey but I think they are well worth it
Hey, I love the video and I was planning on making one for myself. I was just wondering what the dimensions for the drawer front were in the video.
The outer dimensions of the drawer are 18"x6" and I used 3/4" MDF so the drawer front opening is 16.5"x4.5". I then sized it down an 1/8" so it was 16 3/8" x 4 3/8". Hope that makes sense!

Never heard of floating nightstand interesting.
Saves floor space and looks very sleek!
I love the bed for a queen side how much
Not sure I under the question. Could you clarify?

why not mark on the drywall where the draw is going, remove the drywall and install some deadwood, put drywall back now you have solid wood to screw the nightstands to.
That's a good idea! I don't think its necessary as the studs are strong enough but it would be peace of mind
Did you find that reclaimed wood for the headboard and drawers at a Home Depot or Lowes?

How’d you know where the dry wall anchors were when you attached it to the wall
I marked their locations prior to install the screws
Awesome project, thanks for sharing! Loved the bloopers at the end
Thank you! Bloopers are my favorite part too 😂
Dude your a badass
Thanks man!
Can you tell me what point in view you added the brackets to attach the shelves to the wall. I missed it
At 4:20 I installed a piece of MDF on the back of the drawer. I screwed through that piece and into the wall to mount the drawers. Hope that helps!

What’s the measurements for the inner drawer in comparison to the outer box

Can you list the size for the draw?
Круто чувак ,молодец )

Wait no motion activated LEDs inside the drawers for night time lol everything is amazing, so now it’s time for me to cookie cut your design
Should have used LEDs haha! Thanks for the comment!

Also what kind of wood used for the drawer front

Can you do this on a brick wall?
By this, do you mean mount a floating nightstand? If so, then yes you can. Just need to secure it with the proper anchors.
Does anybody know the actual measurements for all the cuts?
Hello my friend can I have the plans please
Unfortunately, I don't have plans for sale for this drawer

There is always so many ways to skin a cat haha! I like your approach too
I literally watched paint dry.
😂
The right side drawer handle doesn't look level.
I can assure you it’s perfectly level. Might just be the camera angle
draw look nice..why not make 4 legs to hold the draw? why buy a draw when u can maek your own..
I wanted it to be floating so I didn’t use legs. I like have the open space underneath
1 in smaller drawer is too snug. Should be at least 1 1/2 inches smaller.
My drawer still had room for clearance but it may depend on the slides used
Amateur ahaha
I'll take it haha!
Nice💪🏾
Thank you!
Bruh ima stop subscribing to this person he don’t give out measurements
