Can't imagine Dave going through the same thing again with passing of Taylor.
This appeared in my recommended feed today. It's only one day after the tragic news of Taylor Hawkins. I can only imagine the pain Dave is experiencing now and hope he has the same fortitude to keep going.
He wasn’t even mentioned in the “25 years “ part
And pat
I've spent the last two hours making my way through the video essays. These are incredibly informative, impeccably produced, all the while keeping the music as the central star.
binge watching them myself
and THEY ROCK!!!
I love that first album, and I love Dave grohl. The rest of the Foo fighters catalogue doesn't usually do much for me, I'm just glad Dave found happiness with his one true love again.
Same
There is Foo Fighters the album and Foo Fighters the band. I like the album better.
I agree with one exception…The Colour and the Shape
It's cool to wonder about if Dave and Kurt could've been like Lennon-McCartney, but it's also cool that even without these what ifs Dave Grohl had the strength to get back to his true passion
Never. Lol. Kurt Cobain was only pretending to appreciate the contribution* because the camera was rolling, behind closed doors he had unsurprisingly began to loathe the exceedingly talkative drummer (Courtney Love), and had apparently even been talking about replacing him for various reasons in the weeks before his recording In Utero. He famously had even been overheard by Grohl stating that they needed "someone more like Dan Peters). He was angry with how wordy Grohl had been in some magazine interview, apparently.
Grohl and Cobain are from different worlds and we're (are) too different to coexist on an equal plain. Cobain was too insecure (didn't need to be) and too domineering on all things to do with his music, and Grohl is the same. They would have clashed and eventually separated, probably in 1994, honestly. But, that never was to be.
@@VanishedPNW I didn't know you were there damn. What sources did you use that you seem so secure that what you're saying is factual?
Music will never leave Dave...he embraced it.
And now they're going to be inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!!
Dave going through grief once again, RIP Hawkins
Those Late! demos are so awesome, Love that Nirvana used marigold and recorded it.
Dude I been waiting for the next video your stuff is great
This is amazing, I love these videos. Keep doing these!!
Really enjoying these essays!
Dave recorded the first Foo Fighters album in the same studio Nirvana recorded their last song...haunting. #Justiceforkurt
I remember buying this cassette when I was still in elementary school.
Excellent job on this video 👌
Love the 2 videos I’ve watched thus far (the other about Pearl Jam ‘Black’). Awesome stuff.
drums aren't even his first instrument...insane he's one of the best drummers ever.
That was poetic license by the maker of the video. Dave might have got a guitar first before a drum set but drums has always been his MAIN instrument up until the Foos. Read his book it's a great story. Only when he started the Foo Fighters did guitar become his main instrument.
I can’t tell you how easy it was to watch and listen to your video. The reason? I wasn’t hit over the head constantly with the word “suicide.” It was used once in the beginning if I’m correct. Other references were worded with a kinder heart. I appreciate that.
Yeah I hate it when these kinds of videos dwell on Kurt passing away. Like... I’m not trying to sweat and feel weird about someone I looked up to no longer being with us. I like that this video focused on the results of getting better and how Dave saved himself which is more important IMO
I love the early layer vocal effect
No mention of almost joining Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers as a drummer?
I don't think Kurt was his best friend, but a good friend.
You can have multiple friends, and even if they werent 'best friends' they were really close, being in a band together, so I think the whole point of the video still stands
Wow I’m glad I caught this fresh! Excellent work!
Dave Grohl, the best man in Rock.
Another awesome video dude. Can you do one about green day?
Oooh! Yes Please. Green Day!! Saw them before COVID in Austin. Phenomenal show.
Wow this was amazing!
Awesome educational clip
Um... Don't think Goldsmith would say he is still in the band with 9 albums under his belt... and Taylor might have something to say about that!
I think their first album was their best
I wish I could start if everyone else stops I might start 🤣😉
My wife died 16 months ago. Ive been struggling to "move on" ever since...this gives me hope.
I’m sorry for your loss❤️
Sorry for your loss😢
If I’m not mistaken foo fighters are in the hall of fame now
Yes grohl in 2 hall of fame bands
Not a bad documentary, but it is missing a few interesting facts. Dave played with Tom Petty and also the Backbeat band in the interim.
Nate went to my high school, pretty cool ngl
Were Dave and Kurt really best friends? I've never heard they were that close.
From what I understand they were. Apparently, they had both had similar childhoods upended by divorce and they connected through that. The fact that they "clicked" personally is what landed Dave the Nirvana gig.
Yeah from what I’ve heard they were really close, but kurts wife out of spite said that they hated each other even though they really didn’t
This is from an interview with Grohl a few years after Nirvana
Your house containing everything you own catches fire. After saving loved ones and pets, you have time to save one item. What would it be?
"Probably this letter I got from Kurt in 1992. That sounds terribly melodramatic, but it's true. I lose everything: passports, wallets, car keys, credit cards, but that letter is absolutely irreplaceable. He wrote it to me when everything was going nuts. We were all living in different places- he was in Los Angeles, I was in Virginia and Krist was in Seattle- and some decisions were being made without me. I got really bummed out and Kurt sent me this letter about my role and stature in the band. It was all, 'I love you like a brother.' It was just before we did 'In Utero' and it said, 'I can't wait to get back in the studio and make a record so we can whittle ourselves back down to a comfortable level,' Which of course never really happend."
They were in the same band wdym 🤨
@@anonymous2457 ??? I think my question is self-explanatory. Just because people are in the same band or whatever, doesn't mean they are best friends...or friends at all. Dave may be BFFs with Taylor Hawkins now, but not with everyone else.
Geez the algorithm hits this channel hard. 600 views to almost a million views on another video
I'm fairly certain you said april 8th, to october when dave grohl started playing again. That's 6 months, not 8
First instrument was trombone, not guitar
que video maravilhoso
Great video, but we all know that the Foo Fighters came to be when the Foo first arrived to Earth.
My God, is hard seeing this today.
Everyone thinks Nirvana is all about Kurt, but it was Dave that made that band, Nirvana was nothing without Dave. The same is with Travis Barker and blink 182.
Yeah, no. I know it sounds like a "feel good" comment, trying to give recognition to the "outcast", but definitely wrong. Bleach is Nirvana af, raw and definitely the essence of their music, and Chad Channing was the drummer back then. No one (no one sane at least) would say Bleach isn't Nirvana. Dave added some stuff but I wouldn't even dare to say that Dave made Nirvana more than Kurt. You must be a drummer.
@@thecorruptversion When I say made the band I mean, took it to next level. Its always the same story, a band is on the brink of making it, go through a couple of drummers, then the someone joins and the make it big. Just like Tré Cool in Green day and Ringo in the Beatles..
I'm not going to watch this video, but I need to say this... Dave released his first Foo Fighters album in '95... He never "almost quit music".
RIP Kurt
And Taylor.
FRESH POTSSS
Hey 1995 Dave: Alannis Morrisette wants her face back.
Rip Kurt and Taylor.
hmph. i think you're missing a whole story here about Dave and Courtney and Kurt's death.
So was I .
Wish he had. Probably would've made a brilliant car mechanic.
Depression and suicide sucks.
he knows something about Kurt's death...
Dude, kurt was fucking murdered by courtney's command.
All you need to know about Mr. Grohl is those first couple snare hits in Teen Spirit.
Dave is bigger than Nirvana now . Just a stepping stone. World domination.
Thank god he didn't. Nobody would be left to fight the foo
Didn’t even start the video, I just came here to say: it’s because Kurt cobain painted a fucking room with his brain. Everyone knows this, I’ll be making my exit now.
Curt didn't commit suicide.
Yes he did he shot himself
It’s Kurt with a k not a c.
Quitting music probably would have been better than the Foo Fighters.
Dave looks like an angry lesbian in the thumbnail
If Kurt hadn't Epsteined himself, Dave might never have become the star he is.
Lost his best friend to murder*
There ya go I fixed it for ya
The Foo Fighters are grossly overrated and are the modern day Rolling Stones. A band held to heights undeserved due to a general lack of talent in the music industry.
?
Their newer stuff is definitely overrated. But what’s wrong with their first couple albums?
Jesus Christ, I thought that was Jacinda Ardern in the thumbnail 🤮🤮
I wish Dave would have quit. He's annoying as hell
It's a shame he didn't quit. He's offered little to music himself and less than nothing for society. May he join Kurt soon.
that’d be funny if it was funny
@@mothman5330 I wasn't trying to be funny. Or sarcastic, or ironic. I meant that exactly as it read.

@@mothman5330 yeah, you seem the type to enjoy Dave Grohl. That tracks.
