Watching your videos has greatly improved the work i do at my job. Yesterday I had to use the rework gun to solder tiny LEDs to a flexible PCB, something I have struggled with in the past. They wound up looking great and worked just as well. Also I frequently solder tiny 42G camera wires to USB PCBs, my solder joints look so much better, all this after watching you and mimicking some of your techniques. Thank you for posting your videos, I now feel as though I have the confidence to do anything that is asked of me. Even my supervisor noticed how much improvement I have made in my work the past few months, I should have a raise coming up soon, and high quality work will def not hurt the chance of that happening. Id really like to take the skills I am learneding now and transfer that into an electronics repair hobby/business in the future.
Though the panel itself might be dimensionally identical, there may be subtle differences in expected display timings and refresh rates, or the pinout/layout of the PCB/ribbon that are application specific. This makes it difficult to source a replacement. No display such as all white, all black, etc. suggests the TFT panel is missing some critical signal like clock. Maybe a dissection of a broken panel will yield more information.
I learnt a lot from watching Alex at work. Have already repaired 2 emergency rechargeable lantern and fan. Next, I'm working on a damaged Ac-dc 15v power supply. *Fingers crossed*
The part number on the flex is not good for looking up. Part of the number is FPC (Flat printed circuit) which could indicate that the cable carries a different part number than the display itself. It's there any numbers printed on the back of the display itself?
I message Mini Maxx on their Face Book page about having replacement parts and place a comment on one of their post for the Mini Maxx for replacement screens, housings and cords. Will see if they respond back. 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀And how disappointing it is they don't have any.
@NorthridgeFix I think it's a custom displays made by TRULY. that's why you cannot find them on the market, I'd saw similar marking such as TFT7K0273FPC-A1-E on other displays, and they have TRULY mark on them. try to contact them for info. It's easy to find them by searching *truly display*
You can probably source another display, but you will have to make a custom flex PCB for making the connector fit. If you repair a lot of these, it might make sense to make it.
Just get a tuner with a simple LCD screen, you arent watching 4K movies on these things. I had a Diablo tuner that had a simple, black and white, LCD screen and it was good to go for years. I lived in a state that does emissions testing so I would swap my stock tune back in once a year for the test, it never let me down, and it had my stock tune stored in it, so if it went down I would have lost the stock tune. Back then it was something like $50 to get a days worth of access to the Ford software download website to use with a passthrough module, I dont know what it costs these days.
When you did the other video about this screen I told you I found those screens on aliexpress but no answer. Obviusly not the exact model number but since this screens are so simples I'm sure they can work.
That lcds have a ship soldered on it... I cant find any info from that screen in web... but looks you can find some compatible ones with the same chip soldered...

I have an EVGA 3090ti and this company will no longer be working with Nvidia for future GPUs as you may already know. If my videocard goes belly up I will be sending it to you for sure. I do have a broken waterpump on my EVGA 2080ti that I was looking to just replace the water kit with a stock cooler but I am no longer able to find my original cooler lol. Would this be something you would be able to get and is this a type of job that you would be able to take on? I put the water kit on this awhile ago and it was seriously a pain so I'd rather have a professional do it.
I remember working on a product which included a screen somewhat like that one. Assembling the prototype we broke dozens. They are extremely weak, especially the flex cable part which gets damaged if you blow on it. Good times
There is similar model on market named "Truly TFT7K0273FPC-A1-E". I dont know what is difference between that TFT8K0273FPC-A1-E and Truly model TFT7K0273FPC-A1-E? Only difference what i can to see is number 7 instead of 8 in model number but who knows maybe is the same size and can work instead of that with number 8? Maybe is that number only different revision but it is same display?! That TFT7K0273FPC-A1-E cost about $25 - $30 online. Maybe is worth to try this if is size and connectror are same.
@@NorthridgeFix It's true, I do tend to get fixated on the tiniest details like not wasting the smallest component that could be reused. I need to change that within myself.

Will be nice to see a video with your opinion about low temperature silver solder paste. The one that auto adhere to pins without the help of flux. Is it good for general use or only for bga and tiny chips? Thank you for the knowledge in every video you post.
Hi Alex, can I ask in this case, is it possible to do wick solder removal first for removing it from donor board? It is because I saw the connector is going to be soldered tip by tip anyway. Thanks
If you see after he finish solder he speaks of two pads the other side UNDER the plastic that he most likely cannot re-solder, but they are only there to hold the connector on better. These are probably the reason he choose to remove the connector the way he did as they are not accessible from the top and need heat from other side or plastic will melt.
No, wick solder removal only mainly works with through hole components and only if there is plenty of space between the component leg and the hole or board surface, meaning that the component leg will be completely free of physical contact after the solder is absorbed. On surface mounted components you cannot get all the solder out and there will always be physical contact if the component is factory mounted (with a very thin layer of solder under it). Leaving a small non visible connection and trying to pull it off will result in ripped of pads or damaged component. Maybe if the connector is manually soldered like in this video and placed on a thicker solder pile it could work so that there will be a gap under each contact pin after using wick but not with machine mounted components.
can u please mention the heat temperature when u de soldering any connector depend on the board layers , what heat degree should we use also the air speed
how about cross checking component from both customer & good LCD. Just for reference & knowledge. I know it not worth it but not a waste to try until u find a good supplier for that LCD

Putting connector pins in parallel, it should be illegal. It's designed to fail. If one connection breaks, the remaining ones are overstressed, until another one dies, and so on.
